Not sure if I’m going to catch this, my money is on Sykes though. Like McArthur to take out Matthews also

I know Sykes is the British champion, and that he’s unbeaten, but I’ve got a feeling he’s going to lose tonight. He makes so many basic errors, and essentially wins fight on the basis of his ridiculous work rate. Tonight, that work rate won’t account for anything in the first two fights, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him exit before the final stage.

Such were the days, still, hot, heavy, disappearing one by one into the past, as if falling into an abyss for ever open in the wake of the ship; and the ship, lonely under a wisp of smoke, held on her steadwast way black and smouldering in a luminous immensity, as if scorched by a flame flicked at her from a heaven without pity.

by Oli Goldstein on Nov 20, 2010 1:47 PM EST reply actions

Sykes

was a top amateur (ABA champ,England rep) so i think the 3×3 round format should work for him, although he has admitted he is a slow starter.
I don’t agree that he makes loads of basic errors but he does have his faults.
There is more to him than workrate though.

by Matt Mosley on Nov 20, 2010 2:57 PM EST up reply actions

I think Choi wins this.

With a KO percentage like he’s got, he shouldn’t be too hard-pushed… sykes is my second choice, but they meet in the semi, so who knows?

by Chaos100 on Nov 20, 2010 2:22 PM EST reply actions

Choi is 11/4 for the win. I think he should be closer to 6/4.

I mean, he has more KO’s than six of these guys combined, only Matthews is in double figures.

Choi ftw!!!!!

I like Choi a lot

He probably could have won a title at one point, but that boat has sailed. But I’m afraid that between his inactivity, the three round format and his age, he’ll get knocked off at some point. I ended up going with Sykes.

I’m going with my hometown fighter Gary Sykes, not just because i know him though.
I think he’s on the rise and he’s got the momentum.
Biggest threats will be Choi (but he is 39 now),Murphy and Buckland i reckon.
