Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Rico Ramos v. Heriberto Ruiz
Tonight is the yearly Camp Lejeune show on ESPN2. The show starts at 8pm EST, with an intriguing prospect v. veteran main event, and former Olympian Shawn Estrada in the co-feature. Generally they do a short amateur bout between a couple of soldiers on the base, as well, which always gets a great reaction from the crowd. Hopefully this year's show is better than last year's, when Rashad Holloway and Frankie Figueroa stunk it out and killed the crowd, with the Jason Litzau-Johnnie Edwards main event not a whole lot better.

Claudia Trejos is our host this evening, with Teddy Atlas. This could be interesting.

Claudio Trejos is badly struggling with…pretty much everything right now.

Wow, Claudio Trejos is just dying out there.

Claudia, obviously. I keep typing “Claudio.” I wish Claudio Castagnoli was here.

Who is
this awful girl—is she from ESPN?
If love would die along with death, this life wouldn't be so hard--Andrew Vachss
ESPN Deportes. She’s just…I mean, I feel bad for her. She’s that bad. She shouldn’t be here. They should have sent down BK if Tessitore wasn’t available, or…God, I don’t know. Anyone.

"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
You’re right, I should be more compassionate—I had a panicky moment after posting that she was maybe an 18-yr-old Marine or something and I was being awful.
If love would die along with death, this life wouldn't be so hard--Andrew Vachss
Nah, no need to be more compassionate, I don’t think. I do feel bad for her, but at the same time, if you can’t get a laugh out of it, it’s just painful. It IS painful, but God bless her, she’s trying out there, and JUST MIGHT be getting a little better.

BTW, I’m not even going to bother putting this on the front page, but Allan Green has filed a formal protest with Nevada whining about how many times he ducked in and created Glen Johnson rabbit punches. It’s an absolute waste of his time, but it’s Allan Green. I mean what else would he do, look for a fight?

This is terrible
This woman is atrocious.
ESPN and HBO seriously have declined in boxing coverage. Showtime it is for me…through illegal streaming.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Just order Showtime. Or at least stop talking about your illegal streams.

Estrada-Hirsch R1

Looked like this was going to have a super fast start, but…it isn’t. Estrada is coming off of a hand surgery and according to his Twitter has been working super hard to get in great shape, and THEN DOWN GOES HIRSCH ON A LEFT HOOK! Hirsch is clearly outclassed by Estrada, which is expected. Hirsch will fight on but he’s not good enough. Estrada swinging like a madman, Hirsch trying to tackle him. Hirsch swings an uppercut, and he’s trying to land a bomb, but he can’t beat Estrada to the punch.
Estrada 10-8
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Damn, beautiful knockdown.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Speaking of bloodbaths, the Bengals might get blown out by halftime.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
I needed 16 points out of Mendenhall to win in fantasy this week. He already has eight. Hot damn! These people musta forgot who the defending fantasy champ is.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I am 1-8
Screw Drew Brees.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
I’m 4-4 and my QBs this year have been Kevin Kolb, Michael Vick, Shaun Hill, Kevin Kolb, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Michael Vick. Last year I won the league with Donovan McNabb, Jason Campbell, Alex Smith and…some other dudes were in there. I’m shit with quarterbacks. I always figure I can “wait” and then I’m “fucked.”
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
And 3 of my losses are by 3 points or less.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Remember in week two when the Colts were up big on the Giants, and that 4th string RB on the Colts tried to get fancy running out the clock but fumbled, which set up an undefended Eli TD pass? I lost a game on that. I have still not forgiven that Colts dude.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I was about to win my week
And then someone started the Titans D against the Jags and they got the 10 points necessary of all nights to win.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
Estrada-Hirsch R2

Estrada really wild, really aggressive, only marginally effective. He is landing rabbit punches, because he’s fighting like a crazy person. Hirsch is basically operating with the idea to not be hit anymore. He shoots a punch now and then, but almost defensively, even when he’s throwing first. Like he figures that’ll buy him a few more moments.
Estrada 10-9
Estrada 20-17

Didn't ESPN used to have boxing at Playboy Mansions?
I’d love to hear Teddy pun his way through that.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
I know FSN had a couple shows there. “Best Damn Boxing” or whatever. DAMN! Our show has DAMN! in the title so you KNOW it’s EDGY! DAMN! God. Anyway one had Timur Ibragimov against Tony Thompson and I stayed up to watch it, but it was so boring I just went to bed, and I never do that.

I remember they did one with Toney/Jirov
Still remember Sunday Night Fights.

I have no idea why I’m bothering to RBR this fight, and I’m going to stop. Estrada is clearly superior and nothing is going to happen that needs such detailed documentation.

"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
That was Hirsch's best round but he is swinging wild
Back to football I can’t believe the Lions gave away that game. Who the hell calls playaction on 3rd down with Stanton?
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
My one and only serious complaint with the Lions this year is that they completely refuse to go for the jugular. You’re the LIONS. Don’t play it safe, ever. You have no room for error.
That said, they are genuinely improved this year, and Suh is the real deal and then some. That dude is nasty.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I'd have given Suh ROTY right away if he made the XP
Definitely believe they’ll make the playoffs in 2-3 years and I root for them because all of the Seahawks castoffs have made their way there.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
They’ll make the playoffs next year. Guar-own-teed. The Vikings and Bears aren’t about to get better and the Packers are sissified signing key FAs. the Lions are moving fast. I know 2-6 doesn’t look good, but a few breaks and they could seriously be a 7-1 team this year. They’ve been in every game except the Vikings loss.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I'm a Vikes fan
Childress has got to go, the Lions are getting better and I think they have a GREAT chance to beat the Cowgirls in a few weeks
I think the Lions have a halfway decent chance in any game where Stafford is healthy. Stafford worries me though. Everyone calls him tough, and he kind of is, but he’s tough without durability. So he’s a Ford truck.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Stafford's gotta stay healthy
Because I think he can be a good QB. He is decent now.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
That’s not the only reason, though it doesn’t help. Aaron Rodgers got sacked 6 trillion times last year and held up and is fine this year. Stafford has been hurt four times in two years now.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Hirsch is not doing too badly this round.
Michael Robinson leads the Seahawks in completion percentage, yards-per-attempt, and QB rating.
uh
Hmmm.
Hirsch won that last round, and now Estrada is cut. Hirsch is kind of taking this fight over, and the crowd is totally behind him.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
It can’t be just me, but I’m gonna say Estrada just doesn’t do it for me. Injury-prone, wild, overconfident. I don’t think his ceiling is very high.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
That’s because it is. So were the amateur fights. It’s amazing what people throwing punches can do for a boxing match.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I’ll ask Sergio Mora what he thinks.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
He thinks a feint is as important as a jab. He said so out loud.

He's a ring general
And just like a real general, he doesn’t actually do any fighting.

Kudos to Don King
For putting on a card in the US with a title fight, a title eliminator, another solid heavyweight fight on paper, and possibly a couple more known fighters, and not being able to find a single TV network to air it.
