Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Rico Ramos v. Heriberto Ruiz

Tonight is the yearly Camp Lejeune show on ESPN2. The show starts at 8pm EST, with an intriguing prospect v. veteran main event, and former Olympian Shawn Estrada in the co-feature. Generally they do a short amateur bout between a couple of soldiers on the base, as well, which always gets a great reaction from the crowd. Hopefully this year's show is better than last year's, when Rashad Holloway and Frankie Figueroa stunk it out and killed the crowd, with the Jason Litzau-Johnnie Edwards main event not a whole lot better.

Nah, no need to be more compassionate, I don’t think. I do feel bad for her, but at the same time, if you can’t get a laugh out of it, it’s just painful. It IS painful, but God bless her, she’s trying out there, and JUST MIGHT be getting a little better.

BTW, I’m not even going to bother putting this on the front page, but Allan Green has filed a formal protest with Nevada whining about how many times he ducked in and created Glen Johnson rabbit punches. It’s an absolute waste of his time, but it’s Allan Green. I mean what else would he do, look for a fight?

Estrada-Hirsch R1

Looked like this was going to have a super fast start, but…it isn’t. Estrada is coming off of a hand surgery and according to his Twitter has been working super hard to get in great shape, and THEN DOWN GOES HIRSCH ON A LEFT HOOK! Hirsch is clearly outclassed by Estrada, which is expected. Hirsch will fight on but he’s not good enough. Estrada swinging like a madman, Hirsch trying to tackle him. Hirsch swings an uppercut, and he’s trying to land a bomb, but he can’t beat Estrada to the punch.

Estrada 10-8

Estrada-Hirsch R2

Estrada really wild, really aggressive, only marginally effective. He is landing rabbit punches, because he’s fighting like a crazy person. Hirsch is basically operating with the idea to not be hit anymore. He shoots a punch now and then, but almost defensively, even when he’s throwing first. Like he figures that’ll buy him a few more moments.

Estrada 10-9
Estrada 20-17

My one and only serious complaint with the Lions this year is that they completely refuse to go for the jugular. You’re the LIONS. Don’t play it safe, ever. You have no room for error.

That said, they are genuinely improved this year, and Suh is the real deal and then some. That dude is nasty.

They’ll make the playoffs next year. Guar-own-teed. The Vikings and Bears aren’t about to get better and the Packers are sissified signing key FAs. the Lions are moving fast. I know 2-6 doesn’t look good, but a few breaks and they could seriously be a 7-1 team this year. They’ve been in every game except the Vikings loss.

I think the Lions have a halfway decent chance in any game where Stafford is healthy. Stafford worries me though. Everyone calls him tough, and he kind of is, but he’s tough without durability. So he’s a Ford truck.
