Anyone know what time this actually starts?
The original press release said 6:00 GMT, but I’m guessing it got pushed back since (a) I can’t find it and (b) a couple of 12 rounders were dropped off the card. Can’t find the updated time on Sky Box Office’s website.

Paul Smith
always looks a bit flabby to me (for a non heavyweight boxer) and i think he could really be a middleweight.
Also
Johnny Nelson is turning into a terrible pundit, imo.
He’s been coming out with some crap lately and may be looking to fill Jim Watts shoes when he retires.
Is David Haye angling to form a promotional company with Khan or something
I have no idea why he would be talking Khan up so much.

Sky is claiming that Brook-Jones is on for early next year
Not sure if that’s actually the case though. Last I’d heard, HBO was looking at a Jones vs. Soto Karass rematch on the Montiel-Donaire undercard.

He's still only young
and Frank Warren likely knows what he’s doing but Kell Brook really needs to blow this guy away and get some more seasoning/tougher step up fights.
Looks like Mike Jones is rematching Karass so that liekly won’t be happening in early 2011.

I know he didn’t look great against Jennings and this fight just now didn’t prove much but i don’t remember Jennings demanding a rematch.
As i said at the time Jennings cornerman stopped it,not the doctor, who usually stops it on cuts.
He would have TKO Jennings within 2 more rounds, imo.

The difference in class is evident...
Still searching for an alive Dan Tucker.
Smith-DeGale R1

Atmosphere is really high for this one. First minute passes without much of note. DeGale pawing with his lead hand. DeGale trying to find range, Smith swipes a left hook but misses. DeGale landing pretty much at will when he does throw, as Smith just does not have the reflexes or speed to battle him. DeGale ripping him late in the round and Smith looks well overmatched in terms of talent there. BIG left by DeGale.
DeGale 10-9

Smith-DeGale R2

Smith targets the body, which he’s going to have to punish if he wants to win this fight, I would guess. Smith doing better work this round, but it’s still all DeGale when he lets his hands go. His speed is just too much, his class too much. Smith’s a good, solid fighter. But DeGale has legitimate world class tools. Whether he fulfills potential is one thing, but I wager if he doesn’t, it’s not going to be against a guy like Smith. DeGale’s just looking too talented.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 20-18

Smith-DeGale R3

DeGale neutralizing him with his speed yet again. Smith gets in close and throws, though. Smith is fighting well. About as well as he can. Smith having moments again this round. DeGale might have allowed himself to get too comfortable. Could wind up being Smith’s best round of the fight. Or maybe he just might get back in this.
Smith 10-9
DeGale 29-28

Smith
is definitely a natural middleweight.
The size difference is obvious with these two and Smith’s back fat still jiggles a bit when he punches still.
Smith-DeGale R4

Referee really isn’t thrilled with DeGale’s tactics, holding and fouling and all this. DeGale with good work inside, head and body, then he backs down. Smith is cut — shocker! Pretty good cut, too. There’s something about DeGale…I think he’s a great talent, but something about him really does make me wonder how he’ll deal with someone who isn’t way too slow for him and will give back more than this. This was an easy DeGale round.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 39-37

I forget
Under BBBoC rules, is a fight stopped on a butt the same as unified, e.g. it goes to the cards after the 5th? Or is it like Thailand, where it’s a no contest no matter what?

I hope he’ll be fine to get through it though

Smith-DeGale R5

Smith pressing a bit more. The crowd rises every little moment he has, but DeGale is outboxing him without much trouble.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 49-46
It just feels like we’re waiting on the inevitable.

Ha!
No matter how good he is, what he wins, how successful he becomes… I just cant take to him and prob’ never will.
I get the feeling I’m going to be that way with Andre Ward. I recognize how good he is, but I just don’t like him. I do like watching him fight, though.

I'm wondering how Ward-DeGale would play out in a few years
They have a LOT in common

Smith-DeGale R6

Smith is really trying his ass off now. Both guys landing good shots, but DeGale winds up getting the better of it. DeGale goes low, time called. I couldn’t see if it was really low or not.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 59-55
Not a bad fight, and the exact right test for DeGale. He’s proving out.

You see the exchanges where the crowd was going crazy in slow mo, and they’re all like Smith misses two shots, then DeGale nails him with a hard counter.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Smith-DeGale R6

This is really not nearly as close as Nicky Piper thinks it is. It’s a gulf in class. DeGale totally dominates the first two minutes of this round. Smith just can’t do anything with him, and it’s not for lack of effort or grit. DeGale falls on a half a jab or something, but it’s ruled a slip.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 69-64

Smith-DeGale R8

Smith gets rocked hard on an uppercut about two minutes into another good round from DeGale. This is what it is now. DeGale isn’t being overly aggressive about anything, just plying his trade and winning the fight.
DeGale 10-9
DeGale 79-73
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Smith
looks like he dare not throw in case he gets countered much of then time.
As a seasoned pro though,he’s showing a good chin and heart.
If Smith wasn't fighting at home, this would have been stopped by now

Smith-DeGale R9

Straight left by DeGale to start the round. DeGale unloads with a combination. Smith really can’t even get out of the blocks anymore. Well there he goes, throwing, and they say, “That’s better from Smith!” and I suppose it is in that he’s throwing punches, but he’s not landing them. Smith nailed with a left! DeGale going for the finish! Smith rocked again, but he holds on! DeGale really stalking and throwing shots when he closes the distance now. I think he smells blood in the water. Nasty left hook by DeGale and another AND THE FIGHT IS STOPPED!
James DeGale TKO-9
Fine stoppage.

The absolute best thing about this is that they’re acting like Ovill McKenzie (18-9, 7 KO) is some massive puncher because of a goddamned Prizefighter tournament. Where BTW he went 3-0 (1 KO).

That’s an absolutely appalling stoppage. Bellew is flat out crap. I hope Frank Warren feeds him to Clev, just so we can see him sliced up and knocked out. What a prat.
Such were the days, still, hot, heavy, disappearing one by one into the past, as if falling into an abyss for ever open in the wake of the ship; and the ship, lonely under a wisp of smoke, held on her steadwast way black and smouldering in a luminous immensity, as if scorched by a flame flicked at her from a heaven without pity.
