WOW!

I echo Schnoobles post, Thank You. What a fascinating read, very enlightning to read of the behind the scenes view of what went into making this classic film. I applaud Mr. DeNiro for his perseverance in getting this film made. Peace!!

I can’t figure out why I don’t like this movie more. I love boxing, I like De Niro and this is usually ranked as one of the 5 greatest movies ever, not just sports movies. But I really don’t care for it. Maybe a revisit is due.

Thanks SC.

Great review….my family are “italian peasants in the bronx” so I really appreciated this movie when it came out, even though La Motta was “pazzo”….crazy. I was on those Bronx streets when it came out.

I can’t see Scorcese being in a gang…what is he, 5’2"?

IMDB says he’s 5’4". But as Floyd Sr. might say, small Italians are nothing to f*** with. Heck, Napoleon himself was kinda-sorta Italian.

He is a pipsqueak wannabe, but a great director.

Corsican….which was controlled by Genoa a generation before Napoleon was born. He spoke Italian naturally, and his accent was made fun of by Parisians. Don’t know what weight he fought at. Went undefeated until his last two fights, then was brutally KTFO.

Hahaha… that was great…

It was.

The Russians practically invented the rope-a-dope against Napoleon if you think about it.

Deniro is fucking awesome…
