Anyone know

if the webcast is decent quality? Thinking of buying it..

by LtfcPete on Feb 27, 2010 7:51 PM EST reply actions

They're usually pretty good over there

But I don’t think you can order the webcast if you’re in the US. I think it’s just non-US/Philippines/Mexico that can order the GFL PPV.

Just for background

I’ve bought about 5 or 6 cards on GFL, and I only had problems with one of them, and those problems were on the fight side (the sound cut out for about a half hour).

Vazquez-Sonsona R1

Tentative first minute from both. Both guys kinda pawing and not quite ready to engage. Sonsona throwing down the pipe. Vazquez looks a bit more reluctant than Sonsona so far. Sonsona whipping the lefts, but not connecting. Slow first round, not much going, but Sonsona was a bit more aggressive.

Sonsona 10-9

Sonsona 10-9

Wide round. I’m not sure Vazquez actually landed a punch. Of course, in Puerto Rico, because Sonsona didn’t score a knockout, that’s probably a 10-9 round for Vazquez.

Vazquez-Sonsona R2

Sonsona looks a lot faster, but he gets clipped there by Vazquez barely. Vazquez is not looking eager to engage. I think Sonsona’s speed is worrying him a little bit. This is not to say that Marvin is especially aggressive, but he’s much more so. Sonsona gets in a bad spot, Vazquez tries to open up, and Sonsona ties him up right. Vazquez starting to clip Sonsona more and more. He’s backing Sonsona down pretty well with his right hand. I think he’s been looking for openings and is seeing htem. Straight right by Vazquez gets in.

Vazquez-Sonsona R3

Vazquez gets the better of an early round exchange. Sonsona is feeling Vazquez’s power some, I think. Vazquez seems like he’s trying to lead now to neutralize Sonsona’s speed, which is a good idea to be sure. Sonsona turns himself around into bad positions a bit too often. Two left hooks to the body by Vazquez, but Sonsona comes back with his speed, only to have Vazquez slip those shots. Vazquez is looking more and more confident.

Left to the body by Sonsona, then shots upstairs are blocked. Sonsona warned for using his forearms to shove Vazquez. Left hook to the body again by Vazquez, then one shakes Sonsona upstairs. Vazquez hammering at hte end of the round with Sonsona covering up. Big round for Vazquez.

Sonsona just seems too tentative. Which is the last thing he seemed a few fights ago. He has the advantages if he lets his hands go, but he just isn’t doing it.

Vazquez-Sonsona R4

Vazquez has definitely become the stalker. Sonsona backs himself up to the ropes and gets his arms up again. Left hand by Vazquez, Sonsona spins it around and Vazquez ties him up. Tactically, Vazquez is sort of taking Sonsona to school now. He just looks a lot smarter.

Vazquez pressuring and landing with both hands. That right hand is breaking the guard. Sonsona is doing nothing offensively. He’s got to let his hands go. BIG RIGHT SNAPS SONSONA’S HEAD BACK! DOWN GOES SONSONA ON A BODY SHOT!

HE MAY NOT MAKE IT!

HE WILL NOT!

I'm not sure he has the motivation

He’s pretty clearly regressed even in his last few fights. Wasn’t moving his head at all this fight, wasn’t really moving, seemed afraid to throw punches.

I don't buy it

I think he was looking for the exit. I don’t blame him cuz he was getting beat, but I don’t think that punch really put him down as much as he just went down.

Regardless, Vazquez was gonna win this fight.

It was cleanly on the outside. I’d rather get hit there than underneath the ribs on the liver side. That punch was completely on the outside of the ribs, pure hook. That doesn’t put a determined guy down in one punch.

Nino low blows Mayol

Draculich is jumping in to stop the action, but as Vic is grabbing him, he throws a huge left hook that knocks out Mayol cold. Borderline call there. Should either be a DQ or a NC probably.

Appropriate for Mayol to lose his belt on a foul

New Champion!? This is a farce. He clearly knew he’d landed low, and he followed up anyway.

I can’t blame Nino, really. He didn’t see Drakulich coming behind him. This is very unfortunate.

Shouldn't really be a DQ either

Not really the same as Luevano-Concepcion

Regadless if he saw him or not. He had to have known he had landed low and the shot had done the damage, and with Mayol clearly grimacing and turning away… it’s just shitty sporsmanship to follow through. It’s almost like hitting a guy who’s clearly down, just because the ref doesn’t get in there in time.

It looks like Draculich is gonna call it a NC
