Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Glen Johnson v. Yusaf Mack
This isn't the last fight of the show, I don't believe, as the Joey Hernandez-Ed Paredes main event has been set for a while now. So you won't want to come in late for this Friday Night Fights. The show starts at 10pm ET.

Jason Booth surprisingly getting dominated by Matthew Marsh right now in Nottingham. Booth just been knocked down on a flash knockdown, and down 5-0 on my scorecard already.

Booth TKO 11 Marsh
Fight stopped in the 11th on a very nasty Marsh cut. I had Marsh quite a few up although Sky had it a bit closer: good fight, shame about the ending. Marsh will come again, and Booth now gets to keep the Lonsdale belt.

I had it fairly even and thought Booth was slightly in the driving seat when it was stopped.
I def think Marsh deserves the rematch though. He had his tactics spot on tonight and played the spoiler in the first half of the fight.

Yeah Booth was certainly starting to take over but he definitely didn’t look too good. Second half of the fight was very enjoyable to watch though, can’t help but feel for Marsh who was up on two judges scorecards!

I know I'm repeating myself
But this show has potential to run well over its potential time frame. If you plan on DVRing or otherwise, set it to record an extra hour minimum.

Yeah it was harsh for Marsh.I really wanted to see it go to the scorecards. He deserved that.
I wasn’t exactly keeping score and maybe i am a bit biased towards Booth cos i want to see him get that Euro shot.He probably needed those last 2 rounds to win it in all honesty.

Yeah, its always a bit of a challenge to keep score watching Sky though when Jim Watt salivates over almost every thrown punch. Still can’t get over the whole build up of Ovill McKenzie as a huge puncher.

I don’t think he’ll get a fight with Cleverley if Clev gets the Euro belt.
He’ll be looking for bigger things and McKenzie will be too big a risk for too little a reward, imo.

McKenzie can go sing
Cleverly wants nothing to do with him and why should he, different class.
Jim Watt
should go and put his feet up,get a packet of Hob Nobs and a cup o’ tea and watch the fights in the comfort of his own home. His bad calls are becoming the stuff of legend!

Watt is a plank
Glenn McCrory is far better.

How could you give round 8 to Marsh?!
That was unbelievably poor from Watt. Marsh was out of it after 6, every punch missing, and somehow, Watt gives him the 8th, where he wobbled back into the ropes!
I thought the 9th could have been seen for Marsh as he flurried quite nicely a couple of times, but certainly the 8th wasn’t even close. On the topic of Cleverly, no way is he going to be fighting McKenzie. It gets him no name value and pushes him no further toward a world title.

I don't know why everyone was so surprised with Booth losing the first 3
Booth always measures out his opponents. Marsh is known for fast starts. Shocker 2+2=5 in Jim Watt’s cycle.
Cleverly is a good kid, good role model and hopefully can get a shot at Cloud in 2011. 2010 might be too early for him. He hasn’t beaten a “name” opponent and he’s still closing in on a top 10 spot, his talent or the weak division, you choose how you potray it!
How many hours till Mack-Johnson? I’m in the UK so I doubt I can last past 4am! Dedication to watch a real FOTY candidate. Mack is a top guy
I’m UK too – massive allow staying up for this one! It’s not live on our ESPN anyway, we’ll get it Saturday I think? (Whatever happens I’ve got it series linked on Sky + so it’s all cool ha)
"The terror of the unforeseen is what the science of history hides, turning a disaster into an epic"
I don't have Sky, to costy!
so that’s another dent to my boxing watch. Still, plenty of streams on the net.
Oh, fair enough! If it’s any consolation, past the domestic fights we don’t really get too much anymore as it is, what with Setanta going down the toilet.
"The terror of the unforeseen is what the science of history hides, turning a disaster into an epic"
I had Setanta
as all Top Rank shows were on there.
It’s a pain that I don’t have a reliable stream for tonight, not knowing if it’ll hold up!

Him coming to the IWA MS show was a big thing, and usually they’d have the show’s big guest star at intermission for autographs/photos/etc., but Terry came out by himself before the show even started and just walked around talking to people. Glen thought he heard the bell? Wow. 10-9 Mack.
The Seattle Times linked to my website in June 2009. I wasn't aware of this until January 2010.
Johnson-Mack R1
Mack comes out jabbing Johnson’s gloves. Johnson trying to pressure, as he generally does. Mack is trying to stay out of the pocket, jab, and work his way around the ring, like Dawson did. Johnson with a right hand over the top, but it misses and Tessitore doesn’t notice, and Mack’s counter to the body does get in. Pretty good routine so far. Now they’re both throwing with power, and Mack gets the better of it early. Looking at them, I’m wondering if Mack can hold up to big shots from Johnson.
Mack takes the first. Competitive, active round.

Johnson-Mack R2
Mack is really throwing his hands a lot, and I wonder if he won’t tire himself out. That was always his big weakness. It’s been better at 175, but he also hasn’t fought anyone besides Henry at 175. He did cut a good pace in that one, though.
Mack is landing some really solid shots. Johnson just looks slow again. I mean he’s not doing poorly by any means, but he was never exactly quick and he’s 41 now. It’s just natural stuff. Mack does a good job again dictating the pace of the round, and I thought he landed the better punches again.

Johnson-Mack R3
Johnson’s pressure looks like it’s starting to bother Mack more this round. He’s landing some hard shots in close, and Mack is getting trapped in corners. Mack really hasn’t done a lot this round at all. And that continues. Clear Johnson round.

Johnson-Mack R4
AND NOW THEY FIGHT! Mack staying toe-to-toe with Johnson, and I think Johnson won that scrap. That is not Mack’s game — but Mack has balls. Johnson has really gotten his rhythm going now. Mack’s mouth is open and Johnson is starting to impose his will. Mack’s punches are getting wide and lazy. He’s getting some of them in, and has come back pretty well in this round, but his punches don’t have the zip they had earlier, and it’s only round four. Glen Johnson is here to go all 12. Is Mack?
I think Glen gets this round, but it wound up being pretty close.

Johnson-Mack R5
Both guys are landing good shots and fighting at a pretty good pace. Mack has stopped using his legs so much, and Johnson’s jab is getting in there. Teddy continues to repeat himself constantly, and then talk gibberish that takes so long to get out that by the time he’s done making a point, you’ve forgotten what the fuck he’s talking about. Johnson is starting to take clear momentum, IMO. He’s just looking like he’s in better shape.

They trade, and DOWN GOES MACK ON A RIGHT HAND! Mack looks tired. He’s looked tired for a couple of rounds. He needs to not trade with Johnson. Johnson is pouncing as the action resumes with two minutes left in the round.
Hard right gets through upstairs for Glen. Mack tries to use his jab to back Glen up, but Johnson’s in full-on stalk mode now. Johnson is getting his right in constantly. Mack stands on the ropes. Mack not exactly eager to throw and he does, AND DOWN GOES MACK ON ANOTHER RIGHT HAND!
Mack’s exhausted.

I still don't get "Johnson was robbed in the first Dawson fight"
it was an easy fight to score with Dawson winning. Johnson finished strong, good on him, but why should he get a decision for winning the final 4 rounds when Dawson won the first 8!?
I had it a draw. It was a very close fight. I don’t think Johnson was robbed. I think he had an argument, but wasn’t robbed.

It’s not as bad as I made it out to be with the joke. I don’t think it’s great either. But I do think it’s a lot better than its reputation. “Ronnie” is one of my favorite Metallica songs, and I actually like “Mama Said,” partially because it came from them being pals with Waylon Jennings.

Jhonson vs. Beaupierre R1 (Scheduled for 6, Frank Gentile the referee)
Beaupierre hasn’t been in the ring for 4 years and took the fight on 11 days notice.
Jhonson the southpaw coming out early circling the jab. Little bit of rough fighting early on as they work inside. Referee warns Jhonson about throwing low. Good overhand left by Jhonson. Holy crap this is an ugly round.
And just like that a body shot sends Beaupierre reeling to the canvas. He gets up at 8. Jhonson attacking and Beaupierre is hanging on. Good bodyshot and now a 3 punch combination up top and the ref stops the fight.

20-18 Corley
I don’t see how you can score rounds 1 or 2 any different. Both rounds, Corley schooled Hernandez for 9/10ths of the round, but Hernandez landed the two biggest punches and appeared to stun Corley a hair. I can see both rounds scored either way, but they should be consistent on everyone’s cards.
