Bad Left Hook Live Boxing Results and Commentary: Edwin Valero v. Antonio DeMarco

I have only seen De Marco fight 2 o r 3 times (including his last fight) and i just don’t see what he can do to keep Valero off him.He seems like a decent technical boxer but his tall, skinny frame makes me think he won’t be able to hold a big shot well.
And no one throws them bigger than Valero at this weight.
I suppose there is a chance DeMarco can frustrate and outbox Valero.
I read Doug Fischer ‘s article about Valero leaving Kenny Adams and later Robert Alcazar for this new trainer,Mario Morales and he thinks this will work against him as Morales is a unheralded guy who doesn’t seem to have the knowledge to improve Valero’s technique, defense, etc.
Still,early KO for Valero,imo.RD3.

Could you put up boxes (or another post) for Adamek Estrada as well? I’ll RBR that one.

These time zones...
piss me off! It’s 1 am here, so hour till show starts?
Yeah
Also, the Adamek card is starting now.

FWIW
This is the best production quality I’ve ever seen for a broadcast that’s strictly on the internet
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Are you seeing Polsat TV?
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
No, GFL.tv

Where a real PPV is available, I try to support it
The more they’re willing to make fights available, the better. Eventually, copyright protection technology will catch up so it’s harder to catch streams, so I’d like them to have an incentive to develop the technology to make it available legally.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I like that Mainevents is willing to show a PPV given that for whatever reason HBO doesn’t like to show Adamek.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
It's annoying
Adamek is probably my favorite fighter above welterweight at the moment. Dude never makes a bad fight, and takes all comers.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Exactly…
He is one of my favorite fighters as well.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
I hope HBO will make Adamek-Arreola if he wins tonight
and that Adamek kicks his ass.
Anything that makes Adamek-Haye closer to reality is a good thing in my book.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
It is beyond me how they invested so much in Chad Dawson and see that Adamek could be had for maybe half as much money and give them 5 times the action.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Prospect vs. scrub still happening
Dennis “Mama’s Boy” Douglin vs. Eddie Hunter
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
He was an amateur champ
But I’m not impressed. He’s getting hit an awful lot by someone who’s 2-2-1.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Ah
Douglin is trained by his momma. Hence the nickname, Momma’s Boy.

I see three people talking about the fight on polsat…
I have to admit… I love polsat… HD quality :D
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
No
I actually paid for the stream. Considering how much better the camera work is than what Polsat usually shows, and that they’re showing the full undercard, and that there’s English live commentary, it seems like a worthy investment for only $10 bucks.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Good for you :D…
I will just enjoy the polish commercials.
I don’t think I will see the fight… will go and see the Showtime care in a few mins.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
I'm pleased enough with the stream though
would I pay $10 to watch Peter Quillin and better camera work? Probably
Oh my goodness… cheezy mentos commercials… Man i miss those…
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Are they showing the Momma's Boy fight on Polsat?
IIRC, they were going to be playing old Adamek fights all day.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Awesome
Is one of them a skinny tall bald guy? Usually they have him in those roundtables – Krzyztof Wlodarczyk, cruiserweight contender
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
No
I don’t think Wlodarczyk is not there. I’ll check again when they come back from interviewing someone. Wlodarczyk-Cunningham III make it happen!
All smartly dressed stereo-typical Central Europe. One with a beard.
I thought they were talking about Wlodarczyk-Fragomeni II
When Erdei vacates the cruiserweight belt.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
He already gave that belt up.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Erdei has vacated
and yes, it’s a done deal, along with Herbie Hide in the other eliminator
Gotcha.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I really don’t like how Erdei fights…
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
He showed balls at the end of the Fragomeni fight, which is nice
But his resume is a joke.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I don’t even think he is a top 10 lhw
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
He's quite talented
but he doesn’t face anyone of interest.
He's past his prime now
His stamina was horrible in his last fight, which was odd considering he didn’t have to drain at all.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
You’re almost certainly wrong. He’s not untalented. Most people just had Yusaf Mack in the top 10 at LHW.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Exactly
I even think Cleverly’s close to top 10 and who’s he beaten!? Brancalion next week. 175 is very shallow
I know it is shallow but it is a figure of speech. He just isn’t that good if you don’t face the best.
I dogged Chris John the same way until he proved all of us that he was for real.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Look at who you are coming him to… Mack. It is Yusaf Mack.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Right, who was just top 10 at LHW for most people. The division is getting better, but it’s still not too great.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I have Erdei 5
in front of Cloud, which might be horribly out of place, but Cloud has only beaten Woods, where Erdei has beaten Barsharin!
I actually thought I would be lowering Johnson down from #3 last night
Mack didn’t do what I expected him to. I gave him the first two, but then he just stopped. You could argue the stoppage was premature
That's in line with what I've seen from Mack in the past
I thought maybe he turned the corner since he survived against pressure fighter Chris Henry, but I guess not.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
And I'd probably have Erdei at #5 or #6
No matter how you want to cut it, Erdei’s resume is better than Cloud’s, even though I think Cloud would kick his ass.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Lets just say I think Adrian Diaconu, Cloud, and heck Jones could beat him.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Diaconu is and always has been massively overrated
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
What's his best win? Rico Hoye?
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
True, but he fought about dead even with Henry
Who hasn’t done much since.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I have Cloud 4 and Diaconu at 7. Jones sucks. Erdei would probably knock him out.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I might put Garay and Camillo in front of Erdei
Garay beat Erdei twice, IMO. Campillo beat him, and I thought he looked really good against Shumenov.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I’m gonna be moving Campillo up. I’ll probably do a good re-shuffling of a lot of the divisions.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
I've stupidly put Shumenov in
but I think I’ll keep him #10 as I have no-one better to put there except Cleverly who hasn’t done enough yet, Campillo #8, Diaconu #9.
Uzelkov?
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Hmm...
no, it’s a good call though. Stopped Dominguez and Campillo hasn’t he?
Yeah
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I respect the hell out of him, but he gets hit too often.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
He looked pretty damn rudimentary overall
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Well how much is it due to the fact that he is literally jumping into the fire? He is a flawed fighter but with someone coaching him, he can be a pretty good fighter.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Probably
But there are a lot of things he needs to learn. Like how to throw a punch without telegraphing it, and how to not use up all of your energy.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Shumenov got a gift.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Definitely
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I rate Erdei's skills quite highly
it’s just he doesn’t get a chance to show them against someone who hits back.
Diaconu is a good fighter, not a great fighter. I think he needs to work out how to move his feet
And how to not be 5'8"
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Brick… do you know who is Eduard Gutknecht?
Just saw him in the supermiddleweight rankings on the Ring mag
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
He beat Balzsay in his last fight.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Damn…. forgot that he beat Karoly Balzsay
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
I didn't see the Balzsay fight
All I can say is that it seems Denis Inkin was greatly overrated, and that overratedness has now trailed through a few different guys.
Gutknecht is a light-hitting German prospect in one of the major stables. I haven’t seen him fight, but I’ve never heard anyone touting his ability.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
He can box
he has that going with him.
But I doubt he can sustain that ability at a higher level. Don’t forget Balzsay was carried off on a stretcher against Stieglitz and this was his first fight back, and it showed.
He fights in a stright line most of the times. Not enough lateral mobility.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
I did see him once dodge a jab by moving his feet. Seriously…

We'll see
If it happens, Marco Huck will be the centerpiece, and they might not want to put in someone who’s such an obviously bad style matchup for Huck, and who easily outboxed him before.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Huck, Wlodarczyk, Hernandez, Fragomeni, Frenkel and ____
another German?
Maybe Ross
Part of the reason the current Super Six works is because they get TV money from so many sources. They need someone who will bring in cash from somewhere other than Germany for it to work.

Abregu-Gutierrez R1
Abregu throwing hard to start, and a right to the body connects. Abregu trying to counter now with his heavy right hand. Yeah, they’ve come to fight. These guys are throwing with purpose. No feeling out process in this one. Stereo jabs. Abregu jabbing, throwing his right, Gutierrez blocks a big one. Abregu throwing hard shots to the body in the first round. Left hook from Gutierrez. Gutierrez blocks the right and lands a left hook again. He’s blocking that big right pretty well so far. Abregu clips him with that one. Left from Gutierrez, right from Abregu.
Good first round. Pretty much all action.
Gutierrez 10-9 (thought he did better defensively and landed about as many good punches)
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Abregu-Gutierrez R2
Gutierrez clips him, and down goes Abregu on the left hand! He’s up, and his legs don’t look good. Gutierrez swinging for the fences now, just hunting him. Abregu is on his bike something fierce, and Gutierrez is helping out by just swinging a big left hook. Right hand Gutierrez doesn’t land on the button. Abregu doing what he can to get his legs back, and it looks like he’s getting there. Gutierrez targets the body. Abregu with a big right hand!
This fight is FUN.
Abregu still backing up, but starting to peck away with power shots of his own. Gutierrez might have given up a huge chance there. Abregu throwing that cannon right still. Gutierrez doesn’t capitalize on hurting Abregu, and Carlos survives the round.
Gutierrez 10-8

Abregu is backpedaling pretty consistently to start this round. BIG SHOT BY ABREGU! GUTIERREZ IS HURT! DOWN GOES GUTIERREZ ON A RIGHT HAND WHILE TRYING TO THROW A LEFT HOOK!
WOO!
Gutierrez is hurt, man. Abregu throwing BIG SHOT BY GUTIERREZ! Left hook Abregu! Gutierrez is hurting and going back. Right hand Abregu! BIG SHOTS BY ABREGU! GUTIERREZ TIES HIM UP!
Right hand Abregu! Both throwing wildly! Abregu going to the body. A minute left in the round! Now it slows a bit. Left hand Abregu. Abregu throwing all power shots. Gutierrez just trying to cover up and stay in there, get to the bell and breathe.
What a fight this is!

Gutierrez looks like he does have his legs back after the break. Right hand by Abregu clips Gutierrez. Gutierrez is hanging out outside, and there’s a right from Gutierrez. Right hand Gutierrez again, now Abregu ties him up. Gutierrez is getting closer to him at times and trying to throw heavy shots when he gets there.
Right to the body by Abregu. Left hook Abregu hurts Gutierrez! 10 seconds to go in the round. Abregu throwing from all over the place. Another right lands, and Gutierrez survives the round.

Abregu-Gutierrez R5
They’re throwing bombs again to start this round, neither landing clean on the first exchanges. Right hand thuds on Gutierrez’s head. Left hook for Gutierrez lands, but not hard. This is getting a little more herky-jerky in the second part of the round, as both are not exactly tentative, but know the other guy can punch. There they let the hands fly, and Gutierrez gets the better of it. Right by Abregu, Gutierrez fires back. Gutierrez nailed by Abregu! And now a left hook stings Abregu! Abregu might have stolen that round at the end.
Gutierrez 10-9
Gutierrez 47-46

Abregu-Gutierrez R6
Left hook by Gutierrez lands nicely, and Abregu gets himself off the ropes after covering up on what comes after. Gutierrez has taken his corner’s advice and is trying to move a little more this round. Gutierrez working away with Abregu close to him. Abregu now throwing the right hand again. Right by Abregu with about 45 seconds left in the round. Both throw hard again near the bell. Maybe the closest round of the fight.

Abregu throwing the heavy hands again. Gutierrez eats another right hand. Right to the ribcage. Abregu is really coming hard this round. Abregu apparently cut near his left eye. Yep, on the outside corner of the eye. Big right by Abregu! Right from Gutierrez is short. That one is not! That hurt Abregu! Abregu ties up quickly.
Abregu might be tired. Now he hits Gutierrez! Abregu looking worse for wear, but has no less fight in him. Gutierrez bleeding from the mouth now, says Gus. Good final minute for Richard, but Abregu’s round.

And immediately they will look at the cut to start the round. Do not stop this on that cut. Come on. And they will not! The fight goes on.
Abregu shaken a little from an exchange in close, but he gets back right away. Gutierrez misses a wild left hook. Both guys are looking a bit tired, but they’re still fighting hard. Abregu with some ripping shots, but Gutierrez blocks them pretty well. A minute left in a winnable round for both men.
Good left to the body by Abregu. Abregu throws a lot of shots, then paws at his cut. Most shots were totally blocked. Abregu is hunched over in there. He’s tiring pretty rapidly. Still, I give him that round.

wow have you seen the cards!
bloody hell, that’s bad
Abregu-Gutierrez R9
Abregu is pushed down by Gutierrez, sort of wrapped him around the head and shoved a little. Abregu is tired, though. That had plenty to do with it.
Yeah, they’re right: 77-73 and 78-72 twice for Abregu. Gutierrez needs to the KO. Press row has it 75-74 Gutierrez, 75-75 and a card I missed for Abregu.
Gutierrez is certainly stalking to start this round, and Abregu is totally on his bike out there. I mean he throws now and again to keep it honest, but mostly he’s staying away from Gutierrez. Open scoring! Fun for everyone. Abregu knows all he has to do is survive these two rounds, so he’s jogging his way through it.
Abregu throws a bit with about 20 seconds left in the round, maybe trying to steal the round late.
Gutierrez 10-9
Gutierrez 85-84
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
10-9 Guitterez, though the cards don’t matter anymore, 86-85 Abregu. This is a classic case of the open scoring screwing the pooch on what could have been some great final rounds
Quillin fight is going to the cards
Looks like you guys saw the better fight. I’m sure Quillin won a wide decision, but he didn’t look good doing it.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Abregu-Gutierrez R10
Abregu is totally on the run now. This is why people hate open scoring, WBC, you dolts. Running, holding, that’s all Abregu is going to do. Left hook by Gutierrez, and he’s swinging from deep down now. Abregu goes to the body, then unleashes the right but it misses. Gutierrez barely misses a home run right hand. Abregu lets his hands fly with about 30 seconds left, but it’s mostly for show.
Honestly, though, I think Abregu might have landed more decent punches this round. Abregu with a left hook. I actually give him the round for that. Gutierrez didn’t do much of anything.
Gutierrez raises his arms for no reason whatsoever. Everyone knows he lost.

I do like watching Abregu. He’s a fun guy. Gus Johnson calls this fight “technical.” OK, Gus. I think these scores were really wide, for the record, and I doubt I’m the only one who feels that way. This was a very close fight. I don’t have a problem with Abregu winning, but it was not that wide.

Adamek-Estrada Rd 1
The arena is absolutely ROCKING.
Estrada and Adamek meet in the middle of the ring. Both guys fire off a couple of jabs. Adamek looks pretty ripped in the back – I can’t imagine he’ll ever be able to get back to 200 now. Estrada lunges in, and Adamek counters with a couple of right hands. Adamek with a couple of left hooks to the body while Estrada misses a jab. Solid uppercut to Estrada’s body. A couple of more good hooks to Estrada’s body. Estrada comes in and lands a 1-2 combo on Adamek. Estrada with a soft right hand that scores an amateur point but does no damage. Estrada rushes in on Adamek sumo style and backs him into the ropes.
Adamek 10-9

Adamek-Estrada Rd 2
Estrada with some good body movement, throwing out jabs, but not really landing. Adamek qith a sneaky quick left to the body. Adamek with a shoeshine flurry to Estrada’s head. Big right by Estrada while Adamek misses. Adamek with a couple of hooks to the body. Really focusing a lot on Estrada’s soft looking body. Estrada with a couple of punches up top while Adamek pounds him to the body.
Big right hand by Adamek. The two sort of wrestle up against the ropes at the end of the round, and Adamek lands a couple of punches. Much closer round. I’ll give it to Estrada, but the judges probably give it to Adamek with that crowd in their ears.
19-19

Valero-DeMarco R1
DeMarco with a jab, Valero throws but doesn’t quite get there. Valero stalking. DeMarco doesn’t look too enthusiastic about throwing punches. Both guys are short on what they’re throwing for the most part. I think Valero’s cut?
Left hand by Valero. Big shots by Valero, DeMarco takes it pretty well. Yeah, Valero’s cut. Jab by DeMarco does nothing but get a rise out of the crowd. DeMarco misses on a big 1-2 attempt.
Valero 10-9
Bad Left Hook

The cut is on the cheek, well under the eye. Shouldn’t be a real problem unless DeMarco can mouse it up.

Adamek-Estrada Rd 3
Estrada with a flurry up top, but Adamek ducks under and lands a couple of nice shots to the body. Adamek with a series of rights that lands. Estrada tries to throw and lands a couple of light shots, then Adamek counters with a right hand that makes a huge popping sound on Estrada’s face. Estrada with a sharp jab. Estrada keeps doubling up the jab and following it with a right hand, and he’s having good success landing that right hand, but it just isn’t doing much.
Estrada with a big left hook that pushes Adamek back while he’s off balance. The two mix it up at the end of the round, and Estrada gets the best of that. Adamek was pretty clearly winning the round, but Estrada might have stolen it in the last 10 seconds on some cards, just not mine.
29-28 Adamek
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Adamek-Estrada Rd 4
Adamek circling, but neither guy throwing too much to lead off the round. Estrada jumps in with the 1-1-2 combo and the right hand connects at the end. Adamek with a flurry that throws Estrada off balance for a second. Adamek with some solid work to the body. Estrada with a strong 1-2 that seems to just miss. Adamek with a strong jab, and then a right hand. Nice three punch combo from Adamek, but Estrada lands a big right hand at the end of it. That’s happened a few times now.
Adamek’s best round of the evening.

Valero-DeMarco R2
Valero swarming on him in the corner, but DeMarco gets out of there quickly. Left by Valero grazes. DeMarco with a nice, stiff jab. He’s really relaxed. Al and Gus are talking about it, and it’s true. Valero hurting on an elbow shot and alerting Cole to it, and there’s a MASSIVE gash over his left eye. Holy fuck that’s huge. Clear elbow shot.
They’re going to look at the cut. That thing is bad.
That is terrible, and they’re going to let it go. Accidental foul is ruled by Cole, no points taken.
Valero now feeling the urgency I think, throwing a heavy right hook and getting much more aggressive. Valero WINGING shots! Here the hell we go.
Valero is really throwing big shots. DeMarco just staying calm and avoiding it. Big shot by DeMarco and there goes a mouthpiece! DeMarco throwing now! Valero with a left! This crowd is insane.
Six seconds left and they replace the mouthpiece. Nothing happens.

Valero starting to really throw. DeMarco is holding up so far, but he’s getting sloppier and sloppier, or at least riskier. DeMarco firing back. So far he’s done a good job avoiding clean shots from Valero. Valero’s landed a few, but not a ton, and DeMarco has done a pretty good job defensively.

Adamek-Estrada Rd 5
Estrada’s corner urging him to throw more power punches. Both guys simultaneously land right hooks. Neither guy really hurting the other at all. There’s good action for a heavyweight fight, but the crowd is getting antsy anyway and waiting for more big shots from Adamek. Estrada with a body shot and a hook, and the ref warns him for punching low, even though it was a clean shot.
Adamek with a three shot combo. Estrada with a missed combo and then clinches. Estrada is really the guy doing most of the moving forward here, while Adamek is pumping out punches while circling backwards. Adamek with another strong round. Estrada can’t seem to crack this nut, not that the follow-up right isn’t landing.

Valero-DeMarco R4
Stiff jab by DeMarco. Valero is getting quite aggressive. Big shots by Valero! DeMarco wobbles a hair, but he stays up and appears to have his legs under him still. Crowd is crazy for DeMarco, as you’d expect, but Valero is pretty well dominating this fight right now. He’s not letting DeMarco breathe. Upjab from Valero lands. Left hand lands. DeMarco might be getting broken down systematically now. He’s shown he can take a punch, though. Good left from DeMarco.
Gus Johnson’s hard-on for DeMarco is huge.

Judges’ cards are 39-36 Valero twice and 40-35 Valero.
DeMarco really needs to step up his pace. Valero is running circles around him and throwing plenty. Not landing a ton, but throwing way more than is DeMarco. Big left by Valero, didn’t get his body into it and DeMarco takes it quite well.
Not really the fight I expected, to be honest.

Adamek-Estrada Rd 7
Estrada comes in, launches a couple quick hooks to the body and clinches. Adamek not doing much offensively, but he’s moving very well, and little that Estrada is throwing is touching him, which is a bit surprising since Estrada had no problems hitting Povetkin. Adamek with a few more hooks to the body. Adamek moves in and out and throws a couple of combos. While he looks like a heavyweight, he’s still fighting like a light heavyweight.
Estrada lands one punch, and Adamek lands three right back. Adamek with a hard right that seems to stun Estrada a bit. The two trade like Mexican featherweights for the last 15 seconds of the round, and Adamek gets the best of the exchange.

Valero-DeMarco R6
DeMarco lands a long left counter, but Valero doesn’t budge either. Valero throwing bombs, and that left got in clean. Valero swiping at him now. He lands TWO big lefts, but DeMarco, by God, takes them like nothing happened. Those heavy lefts are starting to land big on DeMarco, but DeMarco does land a big right hook. DeMarco seems confident he can take shots. Valero ties up DeMarco. Hmmm.
These two are starting to crank it up now. DeMarco got into this round, but it was Valero’s.

Adamek starting to open up a bit more offensively now. Estrada is fighting almost like he thinks he’s winning. Adamek starting to move forward now. Estrada with a series of left hooks that connect. Adamek comes back in and lands a series of hooks to the body, and then a series of hooks to Estrada’s head. Seemingly everything Adamek is throwing now is landing, other than some jabs.
79-73 Adamek
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog

Valero-DeMarco R7
DeMarco starting the round on the defensive, going backward, and now Valero has him on the ropes. Big right hook! DeMarco looking tentative. Now he gets off the ropes. Valero is REALLY pressuring him. Right hook by DeMarco, but then another clean left from Valero. Valero has him in the corner. Big left, big left, big left! Three of them land! Another one lands clean! The lefts are landing at will now. DeMarco isn’t buckling or even backing down much, but those shots are landing over and over. Valero is dominating now. DeMarco wasn’t even remotely in this round.

Adamek with some shots to the body. Chasing down Estrada. Estrada lands a few good shots, including a big right hand at the end of the round. Estrada closely won the round, but his corner is going nuts like that just won him the fight and as if Adamek is hurt. Estrada round, but mostly because Adamek took half the round off.

DeMarco has heart and a chin. I think it’s hard to appreciate what a beating he’s catching because he’s Valero throws so fast, the crowd is obviously with Tony, and because Tony doesn’t buckle. This might be headed for a 10th round TKO.
Valero is a Monster

Valero-DeMarco R8
Big left from DeMarco. HUGE left by Valero! Now they’re throwing the bombs. DeMarco is a lot more aggressive in the eighth. Another vicious clean left hand. And another. And another. This is getting ugly. DeMarco comes back with a right hook, bless him. He needs something huge. He’s getting pounded on in there. Tough, tough kid.
Another combination from Valero. Right to the body by Valero. Valero peppering him with both hands. DeMarco is a brave son of a bitch. There’s a low blow from DeMarco. He’s gassing out pretty hard. DeMarco misses everything he throws near the bell, but he sure threw some bombs.

Estrada being much more aggressive this round, throwing lots of shots to the body. Adamek playing some keep away, throwing out the jab and an occasional combo. Adamek looks pretty gassed right now. Still, Estrada is far from dominating Adamek. He’s clearly winning the round, but mostly because Adamek is just backpedaling and throwing the occasional counterpunch.

The two are getting more active again and trying to hit each other with bad intentions. This fight has turned into a brawl, which favors Adamek as long as he doesn’t run out of juice again.
