The Duke
Fill your hands you sob? Wasn’t that line from one of those John Wayne movies, I think maybe the Rooster Cogburn character. However Duvall is prolly my favorite actor from his roll in Lonesome Dove, Capt. Gus McCray Texas Ranger. Damn that was one fine story, and one fine piece of acting. Peace!!
yeah, it was in True Grit
Duvall played the villain in that movie, Dirty Ned Pepper. Great movie.

i really hate john wayne, and that dry ass acting only enforces that. coens will make true grit a real masterpiece in 2011

Yeah, maybe I can find out why Rooster Cogburn is so anguished. Maybe he can cry.

Yeah, look, I love the Coens and Jeff Bridges, but bleh. Make a new movie.
I did see Barry Pepper will be playing…Ned Pepper. I’ll see the movie and chances are I’ll like it, and maybe even really love it, but I never get excited about remakes. I’m always worried someone’s going to completely fuck them up like they did with, say, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

It was
possible to fuck up The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

they’re basing it on the book, not the movie so it’s not really a remake

But what about The Searchers?

i nearly fell into a coma out of boredom. Honestly as lame as this sounds, i’ll probably never like a JW film due to my intense & fierce loyalty to Clint Eastwood (the true Western film god)

you act like it's some football rivalry
There’s no Eastwood-Wayne rivalry of which to speak. You can like both. It’s totally OK.

i take it personally when some dude goes around saying john wayne is the best western actor in history when clearly the man with no name takes that spot.

Not
Crazy Heart, right? It was also a book, written by a RI College prof!
Now that his book has been made into a movie, he can likely afford a car.
McCarthy, on the other hand, is not soon to be seen in any food stamp lines. In the old days, though, his (now) ex-wife would complain that they were eating cans of beans, but McCarthy would refuse to do a reading and make a little money. He has an ethic about writing, and nothing but writing. I miss (both of) his old style(s), but I’m sure he couldn’t care less.
i haven’t seen crazy heart yet. screeners didn’t come out for it until a month ago, but i didn’t have the space for it on my hdd. it’s coming out on dvd soon, so i can wait
