Could conceivably be the most exciting fight of the night too.

I'm actually not going to catch this one either, probably

I’m doing this show at a friend’s place so if my neighbors are home tonight we can yell and not bother them. So I’m headed out right when this show will start.

Looks like Hernandez just won

Or at least is confident that he won

Hernandez UD Krenz

120-108 across the board. No surprises there.

Hernandez forgot he was being interviewed by a Spanish network

And started out his interview in German. Actually kind of funny.

When Povetkin Won His Mandatory...

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was a month past his win over Ricky Hatton.

Manny Pacquiao was a junior lightweight.

Vitali Klitschko was retired.

Timothy Bradley was four months away from fighting Junior Witter and emerging as a player at 140.

Pavlik-Taylor II was picking up some last-minute buzz.

Joe Calzaghe was preparing to move up to light heavyweight.

David Haye was getting set for a big cruiserweight showdown with Enzo Maccarinelli.

“Cotto-Margarito” sounded a lot different.

He's usually exciting

But he has a lot of major flaws. I think Richards has a better chance of winning than people are giving him credit for, but that assumes he’s carried his power down to cruiserweight. He’s sort of like a less defensively sound version of Arthur Abraham. Fights in spurts a little too much for my tastes, but has good angles, etc. Steve Cunningham boxed his ears off, and still would if they fought again.

And he was winning the round up to that point too

Povetkin has NO SHOT of beating Klitschko, and he’s regressed since Teddy Atlas took over his training.

Mora’s taking a beating now

Now Povetkin is just turning this into a sparring session

He’s just practicing getting inside, uppercuts, upper body movement.

I have to say, I'm impressed with what Teddy has done with Povetkin

Povetkin is almost looking borderline slick.

I’m gonna bump the undercard and Pac-Clottey open threads to the top of the page in the next 15 minutes or so, so Brick if you put something up after that, make sure you re-bump the live threads. Have the main event thread on top.

Huck-Richards Rd 1

Richards starts out in the middle of the ring, doubling and tripling up the jab. Richards throwing lots of punches, Huck throwing almost nothing. Huck lands one punch and the crowd goes crazy. Richards throwing lots of combinations. Huck wrestling some on the inside. Someone is cut on an accidental headbutt, but I can’t see who. Huck looking charper when he actually throws, but he’s not doing it much at this point.

Huck with a jab, Richards slips it and lands a nice counter hook. Richards pins Huck against the ropes and lands a few body shots. Richards with a body shot and Huck ties up again. Excellent round for Richards, but the crowd has a tendency to influence things.

10-9 Richards

Huck-Richards Rd 2

Richards coming forward with a sloppy combination that mostly gets blocked. Richards attacking the body, Huck does nothing and then ties up. Huck finally gets offensive himself, but throws a few jabs that just hit air. Richards with a couple of hooks that land but not cleanly. Huck with a decent 1-2, and with a follow up that gets blocked.

Huck finally lands a nice shot. THe two are trading against the ropes. Huck with a right hand that staggers Richards a bit. Now Richards is tying up when Huck gets inside. Richards with a couple more ugly and slow hooks, but they get through the guard. Better action that round, Huck probably takes it on the strength of the one combo that caught Richards off balance.

19-19

Huck-Richards

Richards coming out aggressive and pushing Huck back against the ropes again. Richards with a couple of jabs that find their way through. Huck with a lead left hook. Huck pushes down Richards, and the ref calls it a knockdown. Richards gives him a really disgusted look.

Richards coming forward again. Huck catches him coming inside, and staggers Richards a bit. Huck is finally starting to let his hands go, and looks great when he does. Huck is trying to end it right here! HUCK ALL OVER HIM! RICHARDS IS DOWN AND TAKES THE REF DOWN WITH HIM. AND THE REF WAVES OFF THE FIGHT.

HUCK TKO 3

I like USS every time over Huck

But there’s not a better fight at cruiser than USS-Huck II, either.
