Half the crowd is wearing binman uniforms

Pretty amusing. In case anyone didn’t know, that’s Munroe’s day job (or in American, a garbageman).

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 1

A lot of tattoos going on in the ring. Terrazas has rosary beads tattooed onto him.

Munroe pumping out the jab to start, but both guys are kind of cautious. Terrazas doubling up the jab himself. Viking with a big right hand that whiffs. Terrazas showing a lot of good body movement. He may actually be better than people gave him credit for. Munroe with a couple more jabs, but I think he has yet to throw a right hand. Terrazas lands another couple jabs, but no punch other than a jab has landed for either fighter with about 30 seconds to go in the round. Both guys mostly staying out of range. Terrazas finally with a body shot.

Close feeling out round, but the body shot was the best punch of the round, and Terrazas’ jab was probably a bit more accurate as well.

Terrazas 10-9, but close.

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 2

Still a jabbing contest early in the round. Munroe might do well to try getting inside, but both guys are staying on the outside. Terrazas lands a combo. Munroe bum rushes in but doesn’t seem to land much. Lots of feinting, lots of jabbing, not a lot else so far.

Munroe finally throws his first left hand, but Terrazas counters him. The boo birds are starting to come out already. It’s not a boring fight, but Munroe just isn’t doing what he would need to do to win. Munroe with a straight left to the body. Munroe doubles up the jab, but Terrazas is able to back out of the way.

If Terrazas wins, evidently he’s usually one of Nishioka’s sparring partners.

Another close round, probably could go either way, but a slight edge to Terrazaqs once again. He’s just a hair more accurate, and he’s been able to get out of the way of most of munroe’s shots.

Terrazas 10-9
Terrazas 20-18

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 3

Munroe with a straight left that weakly connects, and a he mixes a couple of right hooks in there. Terrazas with a combo, but Munroe gets out of the way. Terrazas has definitely been the more aggressive fighter here, even though both guys are throwing about the same amount.

Finally the two get inside and exchange, and Munroe lands a couple of decent body shots. Terrazas with a few jabs that split the guard of Munroe. Terrazas’s jab is not splitting Munroe’s guard with regularity, while Munroe is mostly landing on gloves. Munroe with a couple of body shots, but Terrazas counters with the best punch of the round.

Terrazas 10-9
Terrazas 30-27

Munroe needs to pick things up. It’s plausible that he won the first two rounds, but if the fight keeps going like this, it will be in Terrazas’ favor.

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 4

Munroe misses a couple jabs, Terrazas comes back with a good counter. Munroe finally lands a solid left hook. Terrazas somes inside and the two brawl a bit, but Terrazas gets the better of it. Terrazas with a right hook that connects behind Munroe’s glove. Munroe with a couple of jabs, and Terrazas fires off a six punch combo that mostly doesn’t land, but shows good aggression.

Terrazas has upped his workrate a bit, but Munroe also seems to finally be getting comfortable. Nice uppercut by Terrazas that goes between Munroe’s guard. Terrazas up against the ropes for a bit, but Munroe couldn’t land on him while there. Munroe with a body shot and then a punch to the back of the head. THe ref gives Terrazas a little bit of time and the action restarts.

Terrazas pins Munroe against the ropes at the end of the round and fires off a few hard shots that mostly hit gloves.

Terrazas 10-9
Terrazas 40-36

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 5

Terrazas opens up constantly firing jabs to keep Munroe away. Munroe back over with his best punch of the fight. Sweeping right hook by Terrazas that halfway lands. Munroe with some nice body work on the inside, but Terrazas is able to pop back out again. Good left counter hook by Terrazas. Munroe has gotten more stationary, and Terrazas is having an easier time finding him now. On the other hand, Munroe is actually throwing power shots now, and occasionally landing.

Terrazas pinned in the corner. Good left hand. Lands a few big right hooks to the body. He’s finally smothering Terrazas, which is what he should have been doing all along. Now it’s starting to look more like a typical Munroe fight. Terrazas with a counter uppercut. Munroe with a massive combo of body shots. Out of the clinch, Terrazas comes out firing. This is starting to turn into a good fight.

Munroe 10-9
Terrazas 49-46

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 6

Terrazas misses with a few jabs and Munroe comes back with another body shot. Munroe is really attacking the body now, which can only help him. Terrazas with left hook to the body that thuds. Munroe pushes back Terrazas to the ropes and throws about 10 body shots, while Terrazas fires back a few uppercuts in between. Munroe’s body attack seems to be slowing down Terrazas considerably.

Munroe with lots of punches up against the ropes, pushing Terrazas back, but doesn’t land too mand of them. A few right hooks to the head do connect, and Terrazas is having a really tough time getting off of the ropes. This round is looking a lot like Arce-Angkota, where the two fighters haven;t moved for a minute, with Munroe imposing his will and Terrazas occasionally landing the good counter, but Munroe is throwing and landing much more. Great round for Munroe.

Munroe 10-9 10-9
Terrazas 58-56

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 7

Terrazas tries to keep Munroe off of him, but now Munroe is able to use his strength to get right inside. Terrazas is doing a lot of backpedaling now, fighting with his arms down like Sergio Martinez. Munroe gets inside and fires off a combo that hits gloves. Terrazas with a combo of his own that also hits gloves. Both guys trading, but neither fighter landing much. Terrazas with a hook to the body, and Munroe pushes him back and lands a straight right to the head.

Munroe gets inside and lands a couple of left hooks to the head. Big right hand from Munroe that seems to buzz Terrazas a bit. Munroe is getting inside at will now and unleashing hook combos to the head and body. Uppercut by Munroe snaps Terrazas’ head back, Terrazas finally gets out, but he seems a bit winded and isn’t able to keep away well. Munroe with a few uppercuts to the body to close out the round.

Terrazas is still ahead on my card, but Munroe has all the momentum.

Munroe 10-9
Terrazas 67-66

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 8

The Sky team has it 67-67 right now.

There should be open scoring for this fight, but I haven’t heard it yet. Terrazas with a couple of nice right hands that connect well. Munroe pushes Terrazas back into a corner again and unleashes about 15 right hooks in a row, 2 or 3 of which land. Terrazas with a couple of counters, and he runs backwartds, but gets trapped in another corner. Munroe unleashing more hooks to the body. Terrazas seems completely winded at this point, he[’s just not throwing back much anymore.

Munroe has thrown about 40 punches in a row now. Terrazas finally counters with a left hook, but Terrazas is mostly covering up and trying to let Munroe wear himself out. Now the uppercuts and body shots are mostly connecting. Terrazas just hasn’t done anything, and he’s exhausted. Munroe with about 10 right uppercuts that all land on Terrazas’s head, albeit weak ones. This round was an obliteration.

10-8 Munroe without a knockdown.
Munroe 76-75

Munroe vs. Terrazas Rd 9

The two both fire away but neither lands and they tie up. Munroe pushes back Terrazas again, but Terrazas is more interested in wrestling than fighting out of it now. Terrazas doesn’t look like he has his wind back. Left hook by Munroe to the body and TERRAZAS IS DOWN!!! Terrazas gets up at 8, but say ‘no mas’.

When he fights like he did in the last five rounds

which was also how he fought against Maludrottu, he’s tough to beat. I don’t know if Nishioka is the right fight for him to win a title, but he’ll have a shot.

Great round by round coverage Brick

I haven’t seen the fight yet but this is dynamite. BLH guys are hardcore.

I'd recommend checking it out if you can get your hands on it

Neither fight was probably on the level of Pavlik-Martinez (simply because the fights weren’t as significant), but both of them were really good fights. The only thing that annoyed the hell out of me was that they skipped three rounds of Concepcion-Hammond. But the rounds they showed were great. Not the highest skill level in the world, but all action brawling.

It was on my agenda, but then I got caught up with other bullshit. I did catch the fights after, both good fights.

You should’ve been here for the Globe Trot Weekend last November.

Wigan, England (11/27): Anthony Small v. Thomas McDonagh
Ełk, Poland (11/27): Delvin Rodriguez v. Rafal Jackiewicz
Panama City, Panama (11/27): Luis Concepcion v. Roberto Leyval
Brentwood, England (11/28): Darren Barker v. Danny Butler
Quebec City, Quebec, Canada (11/28): Lucian Bute v. Librado Andrade II / Joan Guzman v. Ali Funeka
Tokyo, Japan (11/29): Daisuke Naito v. Koki Kameda

I was so tired after staying up until 6am to watch Naito-Kameda I didn’t know what the hell to do with myself. There wasn’t any more boxing for DAYS.
