Enzo Maccaranelli is new European Champion
This afternoon, former titlist Maccaranelli traveled to Russia to challenge heavily-favored prospect Alexander Kotolbay for the European cruiserweight title. Maccaranelli knocked out Kotolbay in the first round. After suffering knockout losses to David Haye, Ola Afolabi and Denis Lebedev, this is a good first step towards getting Enzo back in the title mix. Also on the card, Dmitry Sukhotsky, fresh off a decent showing against Juergen Braehmer, knocked out gatekeeper Pablo Daniel Zamora Nievas in the first round to win an IBF regional trinket.

Good for Enzo.
I dunno how much he’s got left any more, but he always comes across as a good bloke, and he makes for good fights, so all the best to him.

I think he beats Ola in a rematch
he just gassed too much and Olafabi dealt with him as he should have. If he didn’t have those stamina issues, maybe paces himself a little more he could easily score a descision over him. Olafabi is far too lazy and doesn’t do enough in his fights for me
If anyone is interested, here's the fight video

Thanks Brickhaus
Don’t know a thing about the opponent, but it was good to see Mac firing off big punches again like he used to.

That was a hell of an uppercut Enzo finished the guy off with. Kotlobay… is not very good. Practically everything Enzo threw landed, Kotlobay’s jab was almost comically bad, and someone needs to teach the guy how to clinch when he’s hurt to buy time.

Beautiful right hand that dropped him. Enzo had some snap on his punches, looked confident too.
