Mayweather, Mosley make weight for tomorrow night
Floyd Mayweather Jr. came in at 146 pounds with Shane Mosley at the welterweight limit of 147 for tomorrow night's clash in Las Vegas, clearing the final hurdle and setting us up for what may well be the biggest fight of 2010.
In the main co-feature, Saul Alvarez came in at 150 pounds, with Jose Miguel Cotto at 149 for their catchweight bout. At featherweight, Daniel Ponce de Leon and Cornelius Lock both weighed in at 125. In the final bout of the PPV broadcast, Said Ouali weighed in at 146 with Hector David Saldivia at 147 1/2.
In attendance at the weigh-in were the usual suspects, plus Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns (who talked about a rubber match with Leonard), Marco Antonio Barrera, Andre Berto and others. Michael Buffer remarked that Hatton was "a little over the fighting weight."

That's got to suck for Saldivia
Miss weight by a half pound in an eliminator.

Where are all the haters?
I’m waiting for the dudes who start saying stuff like . .
“God, Mayweather is wack! How could he come in one pound under weight?! That’s soooo to his advantage!”
Eh?

I think you're reaching a bit on that one.
I appreciate him making weight, and I wish he’s chosen to show the same respect to Marquez.

Mayweather would have done himself a huge favor by
coming in UNDER weight for Marquez. Come in 2-3 pounds under the limit and demolish him, it just adds to the aura of invincibility. Hell, blow the doors off the place and come in at 140. Just laugh about it before and after you demolish Marquez.
That coming in over weight was just an indicator of why people dislike him so much. At some point in your career I think it becomes a good idea to ‘turn face.’ Not sure Mayweather agrees.

Could not agree with you more.
Mayweather would have won the fight anyway.
Him coming in over weight simply ruined any credit he could possibly get for beating a lightweight champion at welterweight.
The disrespect he showed to Marquez, boxing fans, and the sport in general by blatantly saying “fuck you” to the whole situation is a big supporting factor in the dislike so many people feel for him.

I don’t think he CAN. If anything he might have made it an interesting fight by pointlessly weight draining himself.

Right, that’s basically what I was getting at. Everyone and their six year old sister knew how that fight was going to go, and Mayweather went above-and-beyond his normal level of brash, cocky disrespect by being overweight. At the exact same time he was being disrespectful, he took what was already an exTREME advantage in the size department and magnified it.
Floyd being Floyd, I guess. And it does wonders for riling up fans of the sport (and martial arts conduct in general), so I guess it fills his coffers a bit more. Still, you’re probably right about him being unable to make that weight any more. The dude has put on quite a bit of muscle from the looks of things.
No, I’m not insinuating anything. He’s just quite a bit thicker than he was a few years ago, to my eyes.

Let it go guys
Why do you keep rehashing that fight? It meant nothing. The man had no chance. It was a tune-up. Some of you will still be talking about Mayweather’s weight the night before Mayweather/Pacquiao.
