My head tells me everything Scott said in his prediction post is pretty much on target (though I think Mosley will do somewhat better than he suggests). Nevertheless, I have this weird feeling about this fight.. And I’ve had it for a while now.

Mayweather-Mosley R1

Mosley digs at the body when they tie up. Hard jab to the body by Shane. Both look to be in really excellent shape. Jab by SHane, then he sneaks in and clips him with a left hook. Mosley starting fast with his left hand. Mayweather ties him up when he shoots a left hook. NICE counter right by Floyd. Shane with a left, and a right, and the glove touches the canvas, but Bayless rightly rules a slip.

Mosley tries to touch gloves, Mayweather wants to fight.

Jab by SHane. Mosley looking tighter than he did in the opening moments. Floyd looks relaxed. They’re right on both counts. Jab to the body by Shane. They’re not even calling those. Mayweather with a nice charge in. Mosley to the body again, now they tie up and get out quick. Not a bad opening round for either, but Floyd did the better work.

Lederman went with Mosley. Mosley warned for pushing early.

Mosley with a jab. Mayweather with a fast right hand, Mosley with another jab. Floyd shoots a jab, Mosley’s 1-2 doesn’t land. Mayweather misses a left hook. HUGE RIGHT BY MOSLEY! Mayweather is hurt! Mosley throwing! Mayweather is hurt in there. He’s doing a good job holding on.

Mayweather’s hands are REALLY high. That’s very uncharacteristic. Mosley with another good shot! Shane is firing RIGHTS MAYWEATHER IS HURT AGAIN! Mosley is unloading! Mayweather doing all he can. He doesn’t react nervously, but he’s not himself.

Mosley chops him again with a right. Mayweather with two left hooks. 20 seconds left in a DRAMATIC round.

Good shots from Floyd to end the round. Shane with maybe the best round I’ve ever seen against Floyd.

Good right by Floyd. Yep, he’s getting it going. Both land jabs at the same time. Floyd backs him down. This is a hell of a tactical fight so far. These guys are FIGHTING, too. They want to win big.

Long jab by Mosley. Mosley blocks a left hook. Mayweather with a great left hook and a right hand. Mosley misses a wild right. Floyd with a jab to the body. 40 seconds left.

Jabbing back and forth now. Mayweather made a tremendous adjustment this round and dominated the action. Excellent stuff from Floyd. We’ve got a contest, folks.

Mayweather getting in and out effectively again to start this round. Floyd throwing a nice jab now when he senses Mosley coming in. Shane missing plenty on big swings. Mosley just misses a right to the head. Left hook by Floyd. BIG right Mayweather! He’s in a groove.

Another good right by FLoyd. Jesus, he’s fast. He’s cutting a tremendous pace and landing very accurately now. Right by Floyd, not flush. Mosley looks a bit lost these last two rounds. Floyd is taking him out of whatever plan he had. Mayweather is absolutely dominating the fight these last two rounds. 30 seconds to go.

Mayweather-Mosley R5

Shane absolutely has to let his hands go. He hasn’t done it the last two rounds. Damn the counters, damn Floyd’s defense. Shane cannot win this fight.

Mayweather with a left hook after Mosley badly misses a right. He’s taken over in a big, big way. This is not Shane being old. Floyd’s just better than him right now. SHane has shown he can do damage, but Mayweather has adjusted. It’s on Mosley now.

Shane throws a double jab and a right, but none of it lands. He’s just not good enough. This is starting to look like I expected it to. Like I figured, Floyd is not just faster than Shane, but much, much faster.

Shane with a nice shot early. He has got to find a rhythm or this is as good as done. Tremendous right hand from Mayweather! Right on the mark. Just a great, great punch. Mosley is starting to look mentally beaten. Another right lands hard. Mosley’s getting cracked and doing nothing offensively. I suggested Floyd could have his best performance ever. With that second round shake-up, he is. He’s dominating.

Another great right hand! Left hook! Mayweather is taking Shane Mosley apart. Another dominant Mayweather round.

Shane coming out a bit more aggressive this round. He DID do better last round than the previous two, but he couldn’t do much worse. Mosley with a potshot right to the body, Mayweather with a very sharp right upstairs.

Mosley cannot find Floyd. He just can’t get to him. THere’s a chopping right by Shane, but nothing on it at all. HARD RIGHT BY FLOYD! Mosley got stung there. Mayweather opening up now. Mosley’s mouth is open, he’s gassing, and he’s getting hurt. Mosley really doesn’t have much of anything left, it appears.

Mayweather is rolling yet again. What an adjustment he made after the second round. He’s beating up Shane Mosley.

Shane makes a charge. Bayless gives him a “hard warning” on a rough-up manhandling. Now they’re talking big and Floyd tags the shit out of him. Mosley still talking. Mayweather talking back. They’re jawing big time.

Mayweather nails him again when Mosley opens up. Another beautiful right by Mayweather. Just kicking Shane Mosley’s ass now. I mean kicking his ass. Mayweather is making Mosleylook like Arturo Gatti.

Mayweather warned for a shove. Floyd plays defense for the remainder of the round and Mosley does nothing.

Mayweather-Mosley R10

CompuBox had Mosley at 3-for-45 last round.

Mayweather tagging him with the left hook, with the right cross. Just beating on him. Mosley lands one, Mayweather smacks him before he can even think about landing that one shot. This is Mosley’s best round in a bit, I think, and he’s still losing badly. He just can’t get off first.

Crowd is starting to boo a little, and now there’s a big shot by Mayweather. Floyd with another hard shot. And another. He’s just tearing Mosley to pieces. This fight has long since been a done deal.

Things for Pac to watch on Film?

I’m sure he saw PBF get hurt there and was thinking : “I got this chump.”

Wow! Too predictable.

I picked 119-108 but I thought Floyd would knock Mosley down once.

by Dezlaw on May 2, 2010 12:26 AM EDT reply actions

Mosley is too proud to go down.

And PBF was so far ahead of the Scorecards, he just didn’t want to take the risk of getting tagged by a lucky punch.

by BrockRocks on May 2, 2010 12:27 AM EDT up reply actions

lol, too proud to go down

if you get hit in the chin/temple hard enough then you go down. mayweather’s best would have been a counter to one of these sweet spots, but even then mayweather doesn’t have knockout power

That fight was good for boxing, Good not boring with 2 great athletes that put on a great show.

Kudos, Boxing

Thanks for the commentary

I’m mainly an MMA fan, but I like coming over here for the big boxing fights. You guys always do a great job of covering them, and the community is mature and level headed.

Thanks again, and good night

^ What he said

If Derek Jeter clubbed a baby seal on earth day while wearing a mink coat and crocodile skin boots while burning tires on an iceberg, the reaction would be "Its OK Derek, you’re a Yankee." -First mammal to wear pants

I think Shane would believe that the long layoff hurt him.

All ’cause the last fight he was scheduled for was de-railed ’cause of the tragedy in Haiti.

I think he’ll do another fight.

by BrockRocks on May 2, 2010 12:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Now PACMAN vs FLOYD!

and in Dallas where I’ll skype the fight over to Bad Left Hook!

Now that we get to talk Floyd vs. Manny

Can’t they test for steroids through hair?

That way Manny gets tested thoroughly without any blood taken
