Yawn

Not that I hate these guys for trying, but neither is a particullarly good boxer. I live in Cleveland (as most of you know) and I have heard Duddy’s name for the past 4 years constantly. First it was that he should get a shot at Pavlik, but he had/has zero credibility to do so. Then I saw Duddy lose to Billy Lyell all of all people. Yikes. As for Chavez, he is a tremendous specimen in the ring, however it seems like a waste. His punching power was Maliginaggi-esque against Rowland (On the Pac-Cotto Undercard). He couldn’t knockout the club fighter, or really even hurt him. And to cap it off, Chavez got busted for PED’s after the fight. Ugh!. I will admit though, this is a top of the line B-level fight.

It could be wonderful action if they both bring it. It could be like the first (very exciting) Chavez-Vanda fight, but better.

I’ll be there in a fucking Irish flag t-shirt. I may get murdered, but that’s the price a white man pays in San Antonio…and it may be a small price if I get to see Duddy take out Jr before my demise.

you won’t get murdered in SA. It’s generally a cool, laid back town, but I don’t need to tell you that fight crowds can get a little excitable.

the southside of SA can get verry interesting.

A good match...BUT

a never was vs a never will be. Sorry to be harsh, both these guys deserve the work and all, but JC Jr is the most protected boxer since Sean O’Grady, and Duddy has never risen above the club fighter lever. It WILL, however, be a good fight. I’ll watch it…but I won’t pay for it.

Good Test

Im going to be at Ringside watching this Fight and I hope It’s a Slugfest and not a Yawnfest.Jr. Needs to K’O Duddy and Impresshis Fans. I Actually wan’t to See Barrera Fight even though he’s not in his Prime but it will be Fun.

These guys have both been more protected than diamonds in a marine bunker. But it still might be a decent scrap. They are about the same level of ability, so it might turn out to be a decent fight. More importantly, one of them will most likely lose, and if it’s Jr, it’ll be the end of that idiotic “streak” of his. For that reason alone, I guess I gotta root for The Dud-ster.

By the way it might be an optical illusion from staring at that Mitchell-Katsidis pink bubble nightmare for too long, but this is a decent fight poster they put together here. Al Capone versus Russell Crow at the Alamo.

Jr. Time to Step it Up

I Agree with you but I think Jr. will K’O Duddy. Duddy had Alot of Trouble against Medina.

by rgb on May 11, 2010 2:45 PM EDT reply actions

Medina might be decent though. Medina would be far and away the best scalp on Jr’s resume. And I thought Duddy beat Medina if not convincingly, than clearly. That fight should not have been an SD.

Yeah I thought he definitely won the fight. Medina is still real raw, but I said then he’s someone I wanted to check back on in a few years. If he hooks up with the right trainer, he’s got a good shot, I think. Plenty of natural ability, but very unrefined. He’s clearly a fighter.

FIGHT POSTERS

Yes, there are some great posters recently, like the Adamek-Arreola one. Anyone know where I can buy any?

by FrankinDallas on May 11, 2010 2:46 PM EDT reply actions

eBay generally has stuff and you can get a fair price.

Lol

It Will be Duddy

by rgb on May 11, 2010 3:32 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah I agree on that. Duddy should have at least 2 more losses on his record. He was never good but was at least watchable. That is until some one decided he should box more instead of slug. Now he’s not only not any good but he ain’t watchable any more. Chavez Jr I would think would be the son of Pat Chavez (90’s journeyman Lightweight) instead of boxing great Julio Cesar Chavez. He will never come close to getting any where near what his father accomplished. But he’ll beat Duddy. Just to skilled for him,
