Open Thread: Friday Night Fights

Tonight's Friday Night Fights won't have proper round-by-round coverage from me tonight as I've decided to halfway take this slow week off from BLH in order to recharge my batteries a bit and not ban all of you. Librado Andrade is back in action in Quebec, taking on Eric Lucas.

Pretty entertaining fight so far
"If we fight, I’ll need more speed because Mayweather is fast."

Andrade seems like he is in 3rd gear but did land some good shots… Lucas face doesn’t look like it will hold up.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Andrade is a class act and rare sportsman. He will soon become second in popularity in Quebec Province only to Bute. He is never in a dull fight and, if lacking in defensive skills, offsets that by an uncommon aggression. He is very hard not to root for.

It is near impossible to hate on Andrade…
I personally want him to win one of the 4 belts at supermiddle weight and if matched up vs some like Abraham or Froch… I think he could pull the upset.

Casey v Wale..
What a fight! Tough to call a winner. Willie Casey is a fully paid up member of the “who needs him” club!

From what they said
Casey was a replacement for Wayne M.
Well, he took his opportunity and fought his heart out. In the first fight he fought Mark Moran, and just pounced on him loading up with each punch, rattling him and gaining the upper hand. He went on to stop Moran with some big shots in the third.
In the final, he should have faced Gavin Reid but Reid was cut in his earlier hard fought scraps and was repaced by wild card Paul McElhinney.
Gavin Reid looked weary after his fights and ipersonalyy think if he had gone in to the final, Casey would have been too much for him. (Esham Pickering, by the way, lost in his one and only fight against Josh Wale).!!!

I know they have these “stand in” lads in case of injury etc, but for a guy who’s already had two tough fights going in to the final to have to face a fresh fighter, does seem a big ask. I thought that they may be able to add up the score cards for the other fighters and bring in the next highest scorer or something like that. Anyway, it made no difference to the result.
