Does anyone have any info on upcoming public events for Ward/Green?
I live in the East Bay and will be attending the Ward/Green Super Six fight next Saturday. Does anyone on BLH have any info for upcoming events that will be held to promote the fight that are open to the public? Stuff like public workouts, weigh-ins, etc. I know for Dre's fights in Oakland with Miranda and Kessler (which I attended too, I love how his Bay Area fan base is getting built up fight by fight and hope he continues to get big fights in Oakland!) they had public workouts in front of Oracle, weigh-ins downtown by City Hall, and other fan-friendly events. I'm assuming/hoping that the same stuff will happen this time around but haven't been able to find any information on the web.
I tried finding the info on the Goosen Tutor website but it clearly hasn't been updated in months. If anyone has info for events that are open to the public or could point me in the right direction for where to find the info it'd be much appreciated!

Ward had an open workout yesterday
At King’s Gym. Not sure if he’ll have another one. Weigh-in will be a week from tomorrow, but I’m not sure a location has been announced yet. Usually Waldo is pretty on top of Andre Ward stuff, so he might know.
Worst case scenario, you can probably pop by King’s Gym and they’ll probably be able to let you know what public appearances are next on the docket.

I emailed Ward about the events coming up....
Haven’t heard anything back yet. Wanted to go to the open workout but somehow missed that one. There was a press event on the Wednesday before the fight but I can’t find any info on that either (Last time it was in front of City Hall in Oakland). We should coordinate if you are planning to go to either the press conference or the weigh-in. I’m going with another BLH poster to the weigh-in (it was in a hotel near the airport in Oakland) and don’t be a stranger if you see me at either of these events.
I don't know if anyone would recognize you without the hat!

Thanks for feedback
I think I will just stop by King’s to ask. If I see you at any of the events Waldo I’ll definitely say wassup!
Also post if you get any info….I really want to go to these events but I have no idea where they are going to be at….

Presser
The press conference is at Oracle Arena @ 12:30 and is also open to the public. They do have wifi there so I’ll try to give some sort of live blog if I can. Excited to see Lou DiBella because he seems like the least dickish of all the big promoters (not a real high bar there….).

I'd really enjoy
Some sort of open thread from the presser.

There should be a pick'em game to make it more interesting too
Virgil Hunter talks for waaayyyy too long – 8 to 5
Green makes a really nerdy comic book reference that no one else gets (I don’t count) – 2 to 1
Some random high school from Oakland shows up with cheerleaders – 3 to 1
Bums heckle Green and DiBella – 7 to 5
Waldo gets to ask a question about Bika-Green and gets a completely unsatisfying answer – 3 to 1
DiBella/Green complains about refs/hometown advantage – 3 to 2
Someone brings up Miranda and Green gets irked – 3 to 1

If you really want to get in Green's craw
walk around with a life sized replica of a colon around your neck

Yeah I feel Green deserves to get a little bit of flak for the Bika “fight” and the Echols “fight”, but making fun of him for having 85% of his colon removed just seems harsh. However, having a giant sign with nothing but a ’ : ’ on it would be subtle enough to be funny.

Wha?!
Why did he have 85% of his colon removed?

Pick'em results
Virgil Hunter – Actually didn’t talk too long
Green – No comic references
No High Schoolers
No Bums (It was classy and had free food)
Didn’t get to ask about Bika so thats a push
DiBella did complain about California refs and one Cali judge
Someone brought up Miranda and Green made the “I was at too low of a weight and sick” excuse.
So only 2 out of 7 happened, not too bad.

Glad you posted this
I just saw the same link myself and headed over to give a (really late) heads up. I won’t be able to make it, will shoot for the weigh-ins on Friday. Have fun.
Weigh-in
Oakland Airport Hilton at 1:00 pm PT. Grand Ballroom is where it is at (same place as the Kessler fight I think which means no wifi, sorry guys)
