They're replaying Alvarez v. Tyner first
So it will be about 45 minutes or so, unless this is just highlights.

There is a charm to Spanish language announcers.
An emotional expressiveness that, well, doesn’t translate apparently.
And like that, it's a promo for Campeon Azteca

Fight hasn't started yet
Will do once it starts. The clock on Suljos was counting down to now, but the poster says 23:00 Mexico time, which would be an hour from now.

Yes
It’s on Televisa Deportes. I think they had the time wrong on the countdown and it’s still another hour. I think.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog

But Televisa Deportes is the TV channel the fight is playing on.
Countdown is saying 52 minutes until the fight.

Is there an undercard?
It’s pathetic that I live in San Antonio and can’t even order breakfast tacos in spanish. They literally have to bring out the 13 year old mexican girl who speaks english to talk to me. I have no idea what they’re saying right now.

I can’t seem to get it to work right. First it was on something about a lion. I refreshed and it was on Campeon Azteca.

But at one point it was showing highlights of Alvarez, and then Alvarez in his training room
So I’ll wait until midnight and hold my breath.

Maybe it is still coming for you… it was in campeon azteca… it was while they were introducing one of the fighters. It was random.
I still keep getting Campeon Azteca, FWIW

I was just going to give up, but then heard The Final Countdown.
What an odd way to watch a fight, haha.
So is Saul going to fight at 147 or 154? He keeps fighting at 150. I worry the WBC will attempt to create an entirely new weight class for Saul Alvarez.

Funny story.
at the Duddy fight, the guy who sang the Mexican nat anthem forgot the words and somebody had to come in and finish. People were enraged, throwing shit at him. Cops had to lead him out. It was pretty hilarious.

Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Alvarez-Cuello Round 1
The two circle around the middle of the ring a bit to start out. Alvarez with a couple of jabs, but mostly posturing. Alvarez with the first combo he throws seems to buzz Cuello with a pair of hooks. This crowd is going nuts. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there’s 40,000+ there.
Another nice jab for Alvarez. Cuello is leading with his head a bit, which might be a problem. His defense is sound, but he’s just not getting anything going on offense. Alvarez with a stiff jab and CUELLO IS DOWN! Alvarez with a couple of left hooks to follow up. Alvarez still fighting somewhat cautiously after a flash KD, and the bell rings.
10-8 Alvarez

This seems to be a mismatch. A little disappointing after a vaguely competitive fight against the elder Cotto.
This guy fought even with Chavez Jr, FWIW

Cuello went 10 even with Chavez. Alvarez is nasty.

Canelo-Cuello Rd 2
Alvarez getting more confidence. Comes in and out with some strong jabs, jumps in with another left hand and Cuello is down again!!! This time Cuello actually seems hurt, and he’s gone into survival mode. Alvarez unloading with Cuello backed up against the ropes. He’s working the body, and Cuello is thrwing back, but he’s barely surviving in there.
They reset to the middle of the ring and Cuello seems to have his legs back under again. Alvarez weith a beautiful uppercut followed by a left hook and a right hook. Cuello is throwing punches, but there’s nothing on them. He’s acting like he’s hurt to the body, and Canelo has been landing some killer left hooks to the body. Canelo with a left hook to the head that makes Cuello stumble. A few more against the ropes, and the round is over while Cuello is hurt. Cuello’s nose looks broken.
Alvarez 20-16
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Alvarez’s body type is so weird. He’s wide in the upper body, thick arms, thick in the lower legs, too. His demeanor reminds me in a lot of ways of Rafael Marquez.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
The will is being savagely beaten out of Cuello. He’s afraid to let his hands go at all.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Canelo-Cuello Rd 3
Alvarez with a few stiff jabs, and Cuello is already back on the defensive. At this point, Alvarez is just stalking and controlling with his jab, waiting for another moment to pounce. A couple more big body shots. Those body shots just make a huge noise, like they hurt your ribs listening to them.
Cuello is very clearly bleeding from the nose now, and he’s afraid to let his hands go at all, because every time he does, Canelo counters him with something huge. Canelo with a big combo on the ropes that possibly could have been called a knockdown, but wasn’t.
Alvarez with another big three punch combo. He’s being thrifty with his shots, but almost everything he’s throwing is landing. Cuello arguably beat Chavez Jr, and Canelo is just beating the crap out of him. Shows the difference in class.
30-25 Alvarez
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog

And I wouldn't complain if that was another 10-8 round
But it just seems pointless
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog

Saul Alvarez is one of the few prospects in recent years who I am absolutely sure has “it.” I don’t mean he’ll never lose a fight. He will lose some. But he’s got superstar written all over him. This kid is going to make a lot of money.

I think they're both tough styles for each other
Jones has Alvarez on athleticism by a long shot, but he’s not very aggressive, and Alvarez’s aggressiveness might do him in.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
On the other hand
Jones has about 5 inches of reach on Alvarez and a pretty good jab himself
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
I like Mike Jones a lot and agree with your points in his favor, but I think a strong, aggressive guy is going to be his downfall eventually. There’s something about his style that seems like he could be overwhelmed by an Alvarez type.

The Cuello corner might want to consider stopping this. Their man does not have a snowball’s chance in hell in there with Alvarez. All they’re doing is getting their guy’s ass kicked.

I’m all for fighting spirit and toughness and pride and going out on your shield but he’s clearly afraid of Alvarez and just getting beaten up. Cuello isn’t really fighting back.

Alvarez-Cuello Rd 4
Alvarez back in the middle of the ring and controlling with the jab. Cuello hasn’t done much of anything other than paw his jab a few times with no intent to actually leave himself open. Every time there’s a small opening, Canelo jumps on it, and the shots are hitting hard. Alvarez with a big uppercut. Cuello pretty much covered in his own blood at this point. Cuello shells up on the ropes as Alvarez unloads with another big combo that mostly misses.
Alvarez 10-9
Alvarez 40-34
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog

Alvarez-Cuello Rd 5
At this point, Cuello isn’t even trying. He’s running and trying to survive as long as he can, but he just has no answers. At least give him credit for not just quitting, though he might as well.
Alvarez getting more aggressive now and Cuello is shelling up more, meaning that Alvarez isn’t finding the same openings he was before and it mostly hitting arms and gloves. Alvarez with a left hook that gets through. Cuello is now just backtracking out of Alvarez’s range, maybe hoping that Alvarez tires himself out. Cuello with a left hook that’s the first decent punch he’s landed all fight, but at the same time Alvarez lands a body shot and he’s down again.
Actually, according to the ref, it was a low blow, although it looked like a clean body shot knockdown to me.
Anyway, I’m calling this a 10-8 round. This is a bloodbath.
50-42 Alvarez
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Alvarez-Cuello Rd 6
Cuello seems to have a bit more gas now, and for the first time in the fight, is coming forward and putting together combinations. Alvarez comes back with a left hook. Alvarez with a straight right to the solar plexus. Cuello comes forward one more time, but this time Alvarez times him and Cuello moves backwards. Alvarez lands a couple more shots, and the referee says he’s seen enough.
SAUL ALVAREZ TKO6 LUCIANO CUELLO

And that’s that! It really appears Cuello gave it his best shot and he just wasn’t even close.
