Pacman vs Money
Who do you guys think would win
if Floyd Mayweather and Manny Paquioa dont fight, boxing will be doomed for a long time.Money Mayweather and the Pacman are the best and biggest draw fighters right now.If they dont have this mega fight, who in the world are we realy going to want to see fight. No one else in boxing can generate as much publicity as these two.And lets look past the money and look at the quality of the fight,it would be a classic matchup. You would have a boxer with a arsenal of punches that exceed anyones in the sport, and a boxer whose defensive skills and smarts are second to none.If this fight happens, which we all hope it will,i think Floyd would win by split decison.I just think his headmovement and countering ability would be a little to much for Manny. But the big question is,Will we ever see the fight happen.

Not that I want to get into the giant discussion, and it will really depend on when they fight, but right now I go with Mayweather by decision in a genuinely great fight that makes all the bullshit at least SORT OF worth it. I truly believe they would have a magnificent fight.

Speaking of Floyd
Have you all seen this? Is is supposed to be Floyd at a cockfight in PR. The top video is short and just on him. The bottom is longer, but it is just of him at the very beginning, the rest doesn’t show him, just the actual cockfight. (if it is him)
Not a big deal. Do you think it is him? thought it was pretty funny if it is him. My only question would be, were is Roy Jones?
http://deadspin.com/5594886/floyd-mayweather-takes-in-a-cockfight
Haha
Roy’s got ‘em going in his back yard,i bet!
I saw it on an MMA site,of all places. They must have been having a quiet day.
I couldn’t tell if it was him or not in the clip i saw.
One I saw on an MMA site not long ago
Fedor Emilianenko and Denis Lebedev doing boxing sparring in the middle of the woods in Russia. Just weird.

I think if it doesn’t happen until next year, both fighters are that bit older, maybe a bit slower,it could be a bit different a fight to what it would have been had they fought in March.
I was going for Mayweather at first in a close decision but it think Pac would push him all the way in a very good fight.
In the end i think Mayweather’s natural size advantage and superior skill set would see him through but i would not be suprised at all if Manny pulled it off.
Mayweather by close UD,possibly SD,as you say.
I used to be interested, honestly, I did.
Now, I really couldn’t give a fuck. Before too long the pair of them will be old news, some body else will be the new attraction and like it or not, it’ll be “Floyd who?”
They’re acting like a pair of twatty prima donnas, doing us all a big favour by maybe possibly thinking about almost nearly fighting. Fuck’em.
I don’t think Marquez did outbox Manny, certainly not in the second fight.
Besides boxing isn’t always about “boxing”.
No way does Manny get embarrased, imo.
true
besides.. pacquiao’s learning curve has made a drastic change since then. notice he was still a one-armed slugger in their second fight. pacquiao would demolish jmm in a rubber match IMO.. and it would also be in the welterweight division, which would give pacquiao all the advantage
Eh, its more of a “Manny/Roach doesn’t do well versus someone like Mayweather” but this is already too much virtual ink spent on this subject.

Past is the past
Floorer you have to realize the vast difference between today’s Pacquiao and yesterdays. Not the same fighter as it has been pointed out. Mayweather was actually trying to bully a fight with Manny Pacquiao. But he’s waited too long. And the longer he waited, he got to see what Pacquiao is able to do. He watched Pacquiao fight fighters he didn’t want to get in the ring with – and fight fighters he did get in the ring with but he destroyed them in a way that Floyd didn’t. Mayweather took De La Hoya to a split decision. An old De La Hoya.
So Pacquiao gets in the ring – they can day De La Hoya was dehydrated or whatever – De La Hoya is one of the smartest boxers – he knew what he was doing. He got in the ring and right there in that ring, Freddie Roach told Pacquiao, Change the gameplan, go straight at him. We’re gonna get him. And he stopped him. Then he goes out there and just crushes Ricky Hatton. And lays him out on the Rock Star sign. Ricky Hatton had Mayweather moving around for, what, 10 rounds? Mayweather didn’t want to fight Ricky Hatton, he kept waiting till he got exposed. Once he got exposed by the same fighter who beat Andre Berto and they robbed him (Luis Collazo). He beat Ricky Hatton, he buckled Ricky Hatton. That’s when Mayweather said, I’ll take that fight."
Mayweather will not fight anyone unless he has the advantage. He knows Pacquiao is a small guy but he’s stronger. He knows Pacquiao has power. So what he did was do what he did to all those other fighters – get in their head, make them wait. And actually, I think he was hoping somebody like Miguel Cotto would beat him – so the public wouldn’t want to see that fight any more. It put more fear into Mayweather’s heart because Mayweather has to see that. Like Freddie Roach said, I let everybody see our sparring sessions because we want to put fear in whoever Manny fights. When they’re sparring, they’re training for knockouts.
When Mayweather saw – not only what Manny Pacquiao did to Miguel Cotto, but he took a tough Miguel Cotto left hook – he buckled off that left hook and he tapped them gloves together and told that boy, Come on. And beat him up. Beat him up. Now you got Pacquiao looking at Margarito. Why is that gonna happen? And that’s gonna put more fear in Mayweather’s heart. Margarito starts slow, has no speed, no defense. That lil boy gonna stop that man."
So what’s next for Mayweather? Maybe Berto or Williams? Highly doubt either one.
But if does fight Berto it’ll be because he’ll beat Berto. Berto has no feet, he stands like a duck. He has no feet. Of course he’ll take that fight. I say Berto is a C + almost B fighter. I seen him lose to Collazo. I seen him get dropped. I don’t think he should go past three round with Mayweather, that should be a sparring session.
Can Mayweather beat Manny, Yeah!, If Mayweather trains as hard – and Pacquiao breaks both his hands before the fight. Other than that, no. If they both train at their A game, Pacquiao’s gonna stop him. Mayweather’s style of fighting is to beat right-handed fighters. He had problems with Sharmba Mitchell but he beat him – (Mitchell was) washed up. He had problems with Chop Chop – Chop Chop hurt him in the fight. Zab dropped Mayweather, Zab gave Mayweather hell for the first four rounds. His style is not really for southpaw fighters. I believe if Zab was a disciplined fighter, trains at his hardest, did what he’s supposed to do, he’d a beat Mayweather that night. But he ran out of gas like Mayweather said weeks before: ‘We all know what’s gonna happen. Zab is a front-runner. We all know that front-runners eat you up in the beginning of the fight.’ I don’t even believe Mayweather is beating these fighters down – he’s training a lot harder. So he’s able to last longer, and that is what Mayweather hangs his hat on. Against Pacquiao there is no end in sight, no rest period, no time outs, gas to the pedal all 12 rounds.

The Oscar that fought Floyd Mayweather was infinitely better than the Oscar that showed up to “fight” Manny Pacquiao. Floyd was fighting Oscar in Oscar’s weight class. Floyd was not his best at 154 (weighed 150 or whatever it was) and it showed. But he still won.
2. Oscar was incredibly drained and useless in the Pacquiao fight. I mean this cannot be said enough, and cannot be understated. Oscar was in awful shape for that fight. He looked terrible. He hadn’t fought at 147 in years, and overtrained terribly.
I am not more a Floyd fan than a Manny fan or vice versa (frankly I’m sick of them both at this moment, but I admire both of them greatly for their in-ring skills). But I can’t give Manny more credit for his win over Oscar than Floyd deserves. Floyd beat the better Oscar.

This doesn't do Pacquiao justice, in my opinion.
Floyd was fighting Oscar in Oscar’s weight class
Pacquaio was one fight removed from fighting at 130. 147 was a hell of a lot closer to Oscar’s weight class than it was Pacquaio’s.
Floyd was not his best at 154 (weighed 150 or whatever it was) and it showed. But he still won.
Manny had no idea what he was going to be like at 147. You could even say that P4P he wasn’t as devastating a puncher at 147 as he was at 126/130. Oscar had height and reach advantages over Manny. But Manny still won.
Oscar was incredibly drained and useless in the Pacquiao fight. I mean this cannot be said enough, and cannot be understated. Oscar was in awful shape for that fight. He looked terrible. He hadn’t fought at 147 in years, and overtrained terribly.
This is all a bit too revisionist for my liking. 147 was a whole lot closer to Oscar’s weight class than it was to Manny’s. Manny was taking a massive risk going up that high, and I don’t remember anyone at the tiome saying “y’know what? Manny will destroy this has-been.” Now that he has proved himself a welter, people say stuff about the Oscar and Hatton fights like they were foregone conclusions, but I picked against Manny against Oscar, Hatton, and Cotto. Making out like Oscar was in the physical shape normally associated with Stephen Hawking detracts from Manny’s achievements and courage, in my opinion. He took the risks, he made top level fighters look like bums, and now people say it was all too easy?
But I can’t give Manny more credit for his win over Oscar than Floyd deserves. Floyd beat the better Oscar.
And Floyd is the naturally bigger man, who had fought at one weight class lower than he fought Oscar at for years. Manny was the much much smaller man making a massive jump in weight over a very small period of time, and taking the bigger risk. Hindsight is 20/20, obviously, but come on. Oscar was no pub car-park brawler, and Floyd’s win over him was a whole lot less impressive than the nature of Pacquiao’s. I mean, seriously, what did you want Manny to do? Jump up 4 weight classes in 2 fights, and go after a 2008 Margarito?
Now, Tweek, boxing is a Man sport. There is nothing in the world more Man than boxing. It is Man at his most Man. So when you spar with Ned here, just dig deep into that most Man part of you. (Uncle Jimbo, South Park: Tweek vs Craig)

Pacquaio was one fight removed from fighting at 130. 147 was a hell of a lot closer to Oscar’s weight class than it was Pacquaio’s.
And Pacquiao was actually in shape. Oscar, because of the weight, was not.
This is all a bit too revisionist for my liking.
It’s not revisionist, it’s what happened. You’re focusing here on the talk before the fight. I picked Oscar too. I thought he’d be too big. It turned out to make no difference because he wasn’t close to being in shape to keep up with Pacquiao or to much bother him at all. He was thoroughly embarrassed in that fight because he was in awful, awful shape. He was beaten senseless and run ragged until he quit.
Making out like Oscar was in the physical shape normally associated with Stephen Hawking detracts from Manny’s achievements and courage, in my opinion.
Honest to God, if there’s anyone who thinks Oscar was a useful high-level boxer in the ring that night, I’d love to meet them and take them over to the eye doctor. He was hideous. Absolutely hideous. He wouldn’t have beaten anyone worth their salt that night, and Manny is worth more than his salt. It was never a question of whether or not Manny Pacquiao could handle himself in the ring, but about the size difference between the two men. The size difference was at least partially negated by the fact that Oscar de la Hoya had nothing.
I cannot give Manny Pacquiao more credit than I give Floyd for beating “the same fighter,” because they did not beat the same fighter. Oscar still had something in the tank when he fought Floyd. He had zero against Manny. He basically brought a knife to a gunfight, and while thanks to his height Manny may not have an AK-47 at welterweight, he was certainly packing.
He took the risks, he made top level fighters look like bums, and now people say it was all too easy?
You’re making this about Manny Pacquiao, and it’s really not. It’s much more about Oscar de la Hoya. I’m not saying Manny Pacquiao is to blame for Oscar de la Hoya not being in shape. He didn’t poison him. Oscar chose to go to 147 to fight Manny. Manny accepted. Oscar proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he could not comfortably make 147 pounds anymore. Manny kicked his ass.
I mean, seriously, what did you want Manny to do? Jump up 4 weight classes in 2 fights, and go after a 2008 Margarito?
Well, since you’re asking, I was hoping he’d fight Marquez again since they’d just had a great one, but instead he fought David Diaz, and then had the money fight with Oscar. I don’t blame him for not doing that (Oscar was a lot of money), but that’s what I wanted. And at the time, for the record, I was hoping Oscar would fight Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito (since Oscar had stated his intention to return to welter), but he stammered about not wanting to fight a fellow Mexican, and not wanting to fight Cotto because Oscar’s wife is Puerto Rican, and flashed his Golden Grin. So he fought Pacquiao, and he paid for it.
But I will not ever think that the Oscar de la Hoya who lost to Manny Pacquiao was nearly as good as the Oscar de la Hoya who lost to Floyd Mayweather. I just don’t think it’s true, and I’ll always give Floyd more credit for beating the better Oscar. I will also always give Pacquiao more credit for nearly beheading Ricky Hatton at 140 pounds, where Ricky Hatton belonged, than I will give Floyd for beating Ricky at 147, where Hatton had already proven he had some problems. And I give Manny Pacquiao enormous credit for whipping Barrera, going tooth-and-nail with Marquez two times, effectively ending Erik Morales’ career as a top-shelf fighter, thrashing Miguel Cotto, and fighting tremendously against and dominating Joshua Clottey.

I was trying to highlight the “Floyd beat the better Oscar” from SC’s comment but I couldn’t. I thought if you copied and paste it in the subject was how you do it. I was wrong. If anybody can let me in on how to do that, it would deeply be appreciated.

Not to sound like Im slow or anything, but do you click that blue symbol first and then click what you are trying to quote or vice versa? I tried both and I didn’t get any result.
Find what it is you want to quote and copy it by highlighting it with your mouse cursor (click and hold your left mouse button) then right click and choose ‘copy’. Then, paste it it the ‘message’ box (right click the message block and choose ‘paste’). Highlight it and click on the blue ‘quote’ symbol, like this:

I always then click the ‘preview’ button to make sure I did it right. Check it over. If it looks right, click ‘post’.

The problem is sometimes you click that speech mark
and it only comes up with the first biot of code. Happens to me all the time right now. I know I have to click it again and enter a / at the right point, but someone not used to code might not know how to do it.
I meant to mention this issue to SC a while back, but, I guess I just got round to it.
