Elio Rojas injured, Gamboa fight in doubt
Featherweight titlist Elio Rojas has injured his shoulder, and it appears unlikely that he'll be able to keep his date to fight Yuriorkis Gamboa in a non-unification "unification" bout (Gamboa can't actually unify since Chris John is super titlist). Already, Celestino Caballero is saying he's ready, willing and able to step in to the fight on short notice, and we already know that's a substitute that HBO is willing to make. Another possibility is Jhonny Gonzalez, who won this past weekend and is Rojas's mandatory. If a substitute is named, it would be Gamboa's third opponent for this fight, as he was originally slated to fight fellow titlist Orlando Salido. In addition, the date had originally been reserved for a clash between Gamboa and Caballero before Bob Arum pulled a switcheroo on HBO. (Links to BoxingScene).

Well, what are the chances that Arum ever lets Gamboa or Lopez get into the ring with Caballero?
The only chance he’s got of getting either of those two into the ring is if HBO actively demand the fight, and refuse to televise an alternative.

I hope HBO drops the card if Arum puts in a scrub
Frankly, I was surprised that this was still going to be televised. I don’t know what kind of pictures Arum has, but they have to be pretty good.
I'd take either of the mentioned substitutes--
but would really like to see Caballero. Hope HBO (if they can) pushes for it.
I agree
these subs actually sound better than Rojas.

Jhonny Gonzalez isn’t so bad, I guess.
Not that The Ring’s rankings are necessarily the greatest, but their current Top 10 is:
1. John
2. Juanma
3. Salido
4. Cristobal Cruz
5. Luevano
6. Gamboa
7. Rojas
8. Ponce De Leon
9. Bernabe Concepcion
10. Rafael Marquez
Oddly, they seem to have forgotten about Caballero. Maybe it’s because they aren’t sure which weight class he’s in.
Maybe they could get Cruz?
Cruz is probably still injured from the Salido fight

Caballero isnt ranked because he is bouncing between weight classes I would think. Wasnt he recently ranked as top 10 p4p by Ring? I checked and he isnt ranked now but I thought he had been recently
