As has been reported recently Frank Warren has announced a massive British PPV show on September 18th featuring numerous title fights (some more respectable than others) and 9 fights in all.
For anyone who isn't aware of the line up,here it is:
1/ Matt Macklin v Darren Barker for the British,Commonwealth and European titles.
2/ Kell Brook v Michael Jennings in a WBO welterweight title eliminator.
3/ Nathan Cleverly v Karo Murat for the Interim WBO light-heavyweight title.
4/ Derek Chisora v Sam Sexton for the British and Commonwealth belts.
5/ Ryan Rhodes defending his European title against Lukas Konecny.
6/ Enzo Maccarinelli defending his European Cruiserweight title against Alexander Frenkel.
7/ Frankie Gavin v former pro footballer Curtis Woodhouse.
8/ James DeGale defending his "title".
9/ Don Broadhurst fighting for the English title.
Despite the best of intentions from all those involved i would be suprised if all these fights come off (Brook v Jennings has already been cancelled at least 3 times) but credit to Warren for attempting this.
The main thing i want to know is how long is the PPV telecast going ot last?Even if they could manage to get a 4 hour broadcast i don't think they will fit all the fights in.
More than likely it will be a 3 hour show where we get 4 or 5 fights max. That's the only problem with these big shows. They are good for the live auduience at the venue but there just isn't time to broadcast every fight.
I hope i'm wrong but i get the feeling we will get to see the top 4 fights listed above plus DeGale and Gavin, which is still good but not quite as advertised.Hopefully FW is going to let us know what we will get for our money.
