Open Thread: Friday Night Fights and Shobox

July_9_poster__espn__medium Couple of decent cards on American TV tonight.

On ESPN2's Friday Night Fights, Hank Lundy (18-0-1, 10 KO) will battle John Molina (20-1, 16 KO) in what could be an all-action slugfest. Neither guy is afraid to mix it up. Lundy had an entertaining bout last time out on ESPN2 with Tyrese Hendrix in April, and Molina has won a couple since losing his first pro fight to Martin Honorio.

Shobox features big welterweight Mike Jones (21-0, 17 KO) against Irving Garcia (17-4-3, 8 KO) in the main event. Garcia hasn't fought since May 2009, when he lost a KO-4 in a knock-down, drag-out brawl with Luis Abregu. In the co-feature, loud welter Antwone Smith (18-1-1, 10 KO) looks to keep winning when he takes on Lanardo Tyner (23-3, 14 KO). Tyner is a capable guy whose losses have come to Saul Alvarez, Lamont Peterson and Mike Arnaoutis.

Also tonight, on Telefutura, Erislandy Lara (11-0, 6 KO) is in action.

The whole northeast has been killer

But at least there’s air conditioning. Was about the same temperature when I was in Cambodia a couple months back, but no A/C there makes it unbearable sometimes.
