Bradley-Alexander could be done as soon as next week

The date has been talked about frequently, the fighters have thrown trash talk back-and-forth, and the promoters and HBO both seem to want it. Now, Lem Satterfield reports that a fight between Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander could be signed as soon as next week. They would meet on January 29, 2011.

Bradley's promoter, Gary Shaw, will be attending a meeting with HBO, and Don King, Alexander's promoter, is likely to attend as well. Shaw expects a good money offer from HBO, and with good reason. The network is reportedly pushing the fight very aggressively. Alexander fought on HBO on Saturday night, beating Andriy Kotelnik in a hotly debated bout. Bradley debuted with the network on July 17, beating Luis Abregu in a one-fight move to welterweight. Bradley had been set to fight Marcos Maidana before Maidana pulled out.

Bradley (26-0, 11 KO) will almost surely be a fairly heavy favorite against Alexander (21-0, 13 KO) after Alexander's spotty performance on Saturday night. After watching the fight, Bradley stated that he could do everything Kotelnik did, but better.

I would argue that it could be dangerous to simply write off Alexander's choices, though. While he did make a lot of mistakes on Saturday, good fighters learn from tough tests like that. The hope will be that Alexander learned from the experience against Kotelnik and will come in with a good gameplan.

While this may not be the 1 versus 2 matchup it was before Saturday, it's still a fantastic fight. Styles make fights. The early expectation would be that it'll be Bradley's pressure that will be the thing to beat in the matchup, but you just never know. Here's hoping the fight is signed.

Latimore Sends a Message: Wants Vanes To Step Up (BoxingScene.com)
Deandre Latimore (21-3, 17 KO) is attempting to answer a challenge from Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17 KO), who is trying to call out the top dogs at 154 pounds. I actually like that as a fight for both of them, since Martirosyan has been underwhelming in wins this year over Kassim Ouma and Joe Greene. I would favor the more accomplished Martirosyan, but Latimore would be no pushover for him. I do not think Martirosyan is ready for Miguel Cotto or Paul Williams, which is the level of competition he's trying to get into the ring.

Good matchup !!! How do you see it as far as they matchup guys....

Someone sooner or later is gonna knock Bradley out !!! It just might be in this matchup IMO !!!

It's not a matter of "IF" the North will break you. It's a matter of "WHEN" the North will break you.For up here every year counts as two on the outside.

Even though Devon struggled Saturday I think his speed is still going to be rough on Tim. And I think it should be a really good fight if Devon is ready to engage, though he’d be smarter to at least try to outbox Bradley early. Bradley loves to mix it up and drop his defense, and Alexander showed a little of that too on Saturday.

Well I haven't seen as much of either fighter as you and that said it is

really hard to base ones opinion when one only cathes replays of them on youtube and or a rare fight on tv.It is so much easier to judge a fighter when you can see how they progress and how they improve when they step up by watching their careers in succession.I have to say that I agree although with the little i do know of either Devon seems a little lazy whereas Bradley more an athlete than a blood and guts fighter !!! Of course Bradly can grow into a fighter of that mold but will Alexander become a harder worker. What do you think…

Actually Bradley will probably get stunned but Alexander isn’t the type to be able to cash in as the athletic Bradley should be able to stay clear long enough to recover.I’m not to sure about Bradleys chin although his athletic abilities and conditioning are superb !!!
