In his win over Manuel Quezada on Friday Night Fights, Cristobal Arreola broke his left hand in the second round and suffered tendon damage in his right hand. He'll be undergoing surgery, according to promoter Dan Goossen. (FanHouse)

He might be fat, and his training habits might be an embarrassment, but man his heart is unquestionable. Props to Cristabola.

I’m not sure if this shows that Cris has massive heart or if Quezada is just that bad.

Both?

Obsinate Me

I remain convinced that he did do better than recently this time re conditioning. I’m assuming that’s an old picture, but Friday he was less of a tube-person and more of a (faintly, but there) V-shape than the last two fights. Plus, if he had one broken and one injured hand and still not only won his fight, but actually performed entertainingly during the last 4 rounds (it HAD to hurt), he really deserves whopping props.

He hurt a hand against Adamek, too, and fought hard then. He’s not lacking for guts.

Very old picture

That was when he fought Damian Wills on the Mayweather-Baldomir undercard.

He may have lost his window of opportunity. I’m guessing one of the reasons he never trained hard was that he assumed he could always start for real sometime down the road. Sometimes hand problems don’t go away, so he might never get a chance to be great again.
