Weights for Saturday: Huck-Godfrey, Adamek-Grant
Weights are in for the two biggest fights of the weekend.
In New Jersey, Tomasz Adamek came in at 217 pounds, with Michael Grant at 261. Adamek also weighed in at 217 for his last fight with Cristobal Arreola, a few pounds lighter than he was against Jason Estrada, when he had some gas tank issues late.
For Grant, the 261 is about where he's been since 2002, hovering in the high 250s and low 260s.
In Germany, cruiserweights Marco Huck and Matt Godfrey both made weight. Huck came in at about 198 1/2, with Godfrey just under 199. Boxing Scene has photos from the weigh-in.
Bad Left Hook will try to bring live coverage of Huck-Godfrey tomorrow afternoon. The televised card on ARD starts at 2:30pm EDT.

"Grant-Adamek"
is my kind of juicing…… Grant at 261 pounds is in fine shape, as is Adamek at 217 pounds…. GO GRANT! I love it when a presumed washed-up fighter like Grant shocks the world and upsets the odds….. If Grant has his head screwed on right and is willing to stand and deliver at whatever cost it may be at, Adamek will be in the fight of his life / career….. WORD!

If I were
wealthy with my act together in 2010, I’d be back home in Los Angeles living in a suite in one of the major buildings in the downtown area……. Not necessarily a penthouse, but a styling pad 25 to 35 stories upward…….. HOWEVER! You will crap a serious brick when them damn quakes come a rocking at 4am…… Been there; done that…… Yeah, L.A. is a cesspool that’s over-populated, but the Hollywood party scene is killer……

shot of Adamek and Grant from the weigh-in
Grant looks as good as you could expect a 38-year-old guy his size to look.

Grant looks
a helluva lot better than Foreman did at age 38 in March of 1987 against Steve Zouski up in Sacramento, CA. when Foreman was 267 ungodly pounds……
Foreman was a massive dude himself, however, he never carried weight above 240 pounds very well in the girth area….. Against Holy in 1991, Foreman was a well trained 257, but that girth was still too thick at the weight…….
I liked Foreman in 1987 and 1988 when he was down to 243 / 244 pounds for his ESPN fights with “Sekorski and Trane.” Foreman was lean at 235 for Qawi, but I figured he’d eat his way out from 235 rather quickly… Well, he did……..
Grant looks fine at 261…… He’s got a 44 pound weight advantage over Adamek……
