Yeah. If you’re on Top Rank’s stream that’s part of their “classic fights” series which brings you such memorable matchups as that one and Gamboa-Whyber Garcia. RELIVE YOUR GREATEST NIGHTS

It advertised Rigondeaux...
so I took that it was live… I also had the commentary on silent, which didn’t help…
Gamboa vs. Garcia should have won FOTY… It was my greatest night!
Anyone know roughly what time the main event will start?
Debating whether to stay up or not, if it heads north of 4am I won’t bother though
Probably 11pm EDT here or thereabouts.

Why does Bob have to tell me before every fight that I’m going to “like what I see.” Like he’s still trying to sell me the card. It’s a pay-per-view. If you’re watching, your money’s either already there or was never gonna be.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Bryan-Mitchell R1

Mitchell is scolded to “pull those pants up” after the instructions. Not “get the trunks up.” Just “pull those pants up.”
Heads come together before any punches land. Mitchell’s a lefty and got the worse of it, but there isn’t a cut or anything. Bryan jabs, which was actually a downward slap of Mitchell’s extended hand. Bryan’s the aggressor, not that he’s incredibly aggressive. Body shot by Bryan. Mitchell is very tentative and getting hit. Mitchell squats down on the ground but there’s no knockdown called. Why not, really? He just sat down.
Mitchell’s just standing in the corner and basically can’t do anything, and Bryan is spending too much time staring at a guy who’s just pawing at his own eye.
Bryan 10-9

Bad Left Hook

Ali-Arroyo R1

Ali pumping a lovely jab right away, shooting punches to the head and body. Ali’s a bigger guy in every way. Good right to the body by Ali, then a right upstairs by Arroyo. Ali with an uppercut. Boy he’s throwing some great combinations in there. And the way he throws with intent while backing away from a charge is very nice. Watching him work here in the first two minutes, I’m ALMOST as excited as Col. Bob. That’s pretty damn excited.
Vicious right to the body by Ali. Arroyo has only been stopped once in 12 losses, for what that’s worth. Ali is just flashy as all hell, throwing with power, good jab, moves around very well.
Ali 10-9

Ali-Arroyo R2

“Ali can’t wait to get at it. This man is super cool.”
I love Bob Sheridan.
Uppercut again by Ali, then another body shot. He loves that uppercut. Ali shakes him with a well timed left hook that catches Arroyo off balance. Steve Smoger tells them to keep fighting as soon as Arroyo complains about a shot behind the head. I like how much Col. Bob likes referees not taking guff. He gets really excited about it.
Arroyo staying away a bit more this round, which isn’t giving Ali as many chances, and it feels like Ali wants to do a bit more than he needs to this round, like he’s trying too hard to do something amazing. A guy waiting for a tomahawk JAM! instead of just dropping in the open finger roll.
Ali 10-9

Ali-Arroyo R3

Ali floors him, but it’s not a knockdown, as Smoger rules that Ali pulled him down. But still Arroyo is getting hurt now. Ali is throwing nothing but hard shots now. Ali is again going back to just trying to be TOO flashy. If he’d box and calm down some I’m certain he can put Arroyo away. He’s winning easily, but the first round was really impressive and the rest has been… you know, impressive, but I can’t help but nitpick and wish he’d calm down.

Arroyo is still trying his ass off, but he’s not quick enough to find Ali. Now they’re comparing him to Pacquiao. Why not, I suppose. Ali dominates another round, though he’s not doing quite as much as he did early on. I do like his constant motion, but a lot of it is wasted. That can be refined though. His raw skills are very good.

Now Ali is back to picking his spots more, landing some good shots. Arroyo has a shit load of heart. He’s still charging right at him. Nasty right by Ali. He does have a habit of punching behind the ear. BEAUTIFUL left hook to the body, and Arroyo drops to a knee.

I don’t like it (too corny), but a lot of people do, and it has its strong points even to me. Did you like, say, The Shield? Or other FX shows of that nature? If so, it’s worth a shot. I’ve been spoiled by HBO, where everyone can really let loose and I’m not supposed to be impressed if someone says “shit.”
But I did like Justified. Timothy Olyphant rules. It’s like Bullock from Deadwood with a sense of humor in modern times. Plus so many Deadwood cameos.

Both guys have their hands moving in the first minute. Julio isn’t looking overly aggressive so he might want rounds. Davis is showing no fear, to his credit. Good right by Julio. Davis is standing in there with him and throwing back what he gets, but Julio is landing a little better. Overall though it’s mostly an even round. There’s a chopping right by Julio.

Julio is obviously using the right as a heat-seeking missile in this fight. Davey Boy pointed out at the end of the first that Davis’ left hand is too low, and he’s right. Good, stiff right by Julio, but Davis takes it well. Davis is better than I expected him to be, to be honest. Maybe another Gabe Rosado type. Different style of fighter, but better than his record. Sooner than later, though, that guy winds up being as good as his record. Usually anyway.
Julio’s a different class, but Davis is still hanging tough.

Julio pressing more now, and I think he stung him on a left hook. He’s starting to rip away. I think he felt him out and has decided it’s showtime. Good little right by Davis. Davis still coming right to him and fighting. There’s a left hook from Davis. Big right by Davis! Well damn. Uppercut from Davis lands. Huh. Julio’s cut, too. Good trade, and Julio stops him cold with one shot, but the bell sounds and they both head to their corners. Really fun round.

Julio coming out FIRING the heavy shots. It’s time to rumble now. Julio just coming right at him and winging heavy shots. Davis doing a very good job of avoiding the blows, and he ties up. Julio still hasn’t landed a good, clean shot as much as he’s thrown this round. Davis looks a little tired, but he seems to see almost everything Julio is throwing. Davis lands a right hand inside. This round’s a lot closer than they’re describing, IMO. Winnable for either with 40 seconds left. Aggression is one thing, but Davis showed some good defense and survival skills at the same time. Julio nicks the round for me, but they called it dominant.

Julio comes out hard again, but again he’s still not really landing these shots all that well. And once he doesn’t crack him right away, Julio slows back down. BIG right by Julio! Davis takes it, but he’s wobbled. And then he seems to get his legs right back, and he fires a good right hand of his own. Good left hook by Julio hurts Davis. He’s starting to wilt for sure now. But damn it all, he comes back punching. He really hasn’t had Davis “on the verge of being stopped” this round. He’s hurt him, but Davis has come back nicely. Davis, for the record, has really never been close to being stopped on anything other than a possible early referee hook. Julio is really not impressing me all things considered — he’s doing exactly what you should expect him to do, and his power either isn’t what it used to be or Davis is really, really, really tough. Col. Bob thinks it’s the conditioning of Davis. I haven’t seen Julio be much of a puncher in years is the bigger problem.

They’re acting like it would be easy for shot Michael Grant to just throw a double, triple jab and let go of a monster right hand. The problem with that thinking is Grant just isn’t good enough to do that anymore. His jab is lazy and slow. His right hand is long, slow, and easily seen coming. He can’t get uncorked before Adamek is already on him. Not that Adamek is doing anything very impressive here, either. I said when this was signed that anyone who thought Grant was really a guy who could prepare Adamek for a Klitschko was nuts, and it’s proving out, I think. Sneaky little left hand inside by Adamek. Grant hasn’t seemed to feel any of Adamek’s power to me. Adamek has definitely felt Grant’s. As much as I like Adamek — and I really, really like Adamek — he has not been great at taking blows since moving up. Golota didn’t do anything, Estrada isn’t a puncher, he mostly stayed away from Arreola, and tonight he’s showing a real dislike of being hit by a big guy, and it’s a big guy who doesn’t have the power of Haye or the Klitschkos. The fact that Adamek can’t hurt Grant is a major problem. He’s also tiring late as he did against Estrada. Right hand and a stiff left hook from Adamek, and Grant doesn’t budge. “Grant doesn’t budge” is not good for Adamek’s power. Grant is stalking him. This has become if not exciting, definitely very interesting. Now Adamek’s got his left hand really low. Grant bleeding from the mouth, says Sheridan. I am definitely finding this fight interesting from an analytical standpoint. Adamek with a good little combination, then jumps right out. He wants nothing to do with Grant. Grant is now slumbering somewhat. Good right by Adamek. Col. Bob is watching the clock like a hawk and KEEPS ASKING FOR AN UPPERCUT THAT GRANT HASN’T THROWN IN 11 ROUNDS. HE’S NOT GOING TO THROW AN UPPERCUT.
Grant no longer stalking or pressuring at all. Adamek has dominated this round and has turned the tide entirely back into his favor. Really this is one of Adamek’s best rounds overall in the fight. Right hand and a left hand by Adamek.
Adamek 10-9
Adamek 108-101

Adamek's best round.
It would go a little ways if I could only see Adamek stagger the putty-chinned Grant just once this fight, though.

Adamek-Grant R12

Well, Grant’s throwing. At least there’s that. Adamek peppers back a little bit. Grant is really hoping to load up, but I don’t think he has the speed to catch Adamek unless Adamek makes a mistake. Grant with a big right! Adamek shakes a bit, and he’s chasing Adamek around the ring throwing right hands! 1:30 left! GRAND ALL OVER ADAMEK! THROWING BIG SHOTS! Adamek escapes!
Adamek looking to tie up, and he shoves Grant away. Hey, do what you gotta do. Much worse things you can do. Grant still loading up. Adamek covering. Adamek throwing! Grant throwing! Well we’re getting a damn fun finish.
20 seconds to go. 10 seconds. And Grant stands there. Adamek gets on his bike.
Grant 10-9
Adamek 117-111

Not a bad fight. Had some slow moments, but some good action, too. Really fun 12th round.
Sheridan is about to have a heart attack, however.

I’m glad Goral won, but I don’t think he has much of a shot against either Klitschko. Or Haye for that matter.

Grant is genuinely an exceptionally nice man. I think that’s part of the reason his career didn’t pan out like it could have.

Grant was strong,
but also too timid in his attack…… Grant waited too long……. Good; not great fight…… Grant has no killer instinct…… Grant came close, but no cigar…….. Let him fade away………. He’s done………

I hope he’s ready to retire financially, because this would be a nice way to go out. He lasted all 12 in a solid fight against a top five guy. Nothing to be ashamed of.

On the other hand
I think this also shows he could get one more decent fight, something for okay money against an up-and-comer. He showed he has more left than I thought he did.
