Jean Pascal hints at targeting Tavoris Cloud
Lem Satterfield of FanHouse interviewed new light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal about his future possibilities, and it jumps out that he just might be targeting Tavoris Cloud instead of Lucian Bute or Bernard Hopkins.
Mr. Satterfield also reported that Yvon Michel, Pascal's reporter, says that Bute isn't interested in the fight. He and his promoter are content to stay at 168 for the time being. Bute is currently scheduled to fight Jesse Brinkley on October 15, in a fight that nobody sees as competitive on paper. It's also a fight that has drawn zero interest from HBO, which has been pushing Bute as a counter to Showtime's ongoing Super Six tournament.
Pascal says he doesn't need Bute, though the fight would be enormous in Montreal. And he hints about a possible fight with Tavoris Cloud:
"I'm a boxer, but I'm also a huge boxing fan. I like to go to shows as a fan because I'm a fan of boxing. Tavoris Cloud is like me. He's hungry, he's a young lion, and he wants to prove himself like me. So, for sure, if he wants to fight me, I have no problem to take that challenge, you know?"
Pascal also refers to himself as a martian, and says "you know" a grand total of 12 times in the interview. This makes him no match for Zab Judah.
