"I want the belt. I deserve it. If the fight were anywhere but here, I would be champion. I am speechless. I have no words to describe what happened. That guy has something that belongs to me."

--Andriy Kotelnik, who lost a decision last night to Devon Alexander in Alexander's hometown

Does anyone else here think ALexander sounded really out of it in the post fight interview with Kellerman? Speech was really slurred, and his eyes were closing like he was falling asleep.

Yeah, I thought the same. He did not look or sound good at all. His speech is part because that’s honestly just how he talks with the St. Louis accent, but he was kind of swaying a bit and his eyes were all over the place. I assume he’s alright and probably did the routine check-up, but he was hit flush plenty.

Actually it reminded me a lot of Paul Williams after the Sergio Martinez fight.

That Uke looked like everything Alexander was not. No muscle definition, no big back, but boy was he

an animal. He just kept coming and never let up. He was in great shape and followed his corner’s instructiuons to a tee. I was really impressed by his focus and toughness. I was also impressed by Ledderman’s push back on Max. Harold is an accomplished judge; Max is not—yet Max acts like he is one. I don’t care for that. I’ll watch the Uke fight anytime. He earned my support. Devan did not come as prepared as he could have IMO.

Harold’s scorecard was terrible and even worse then the actual judges…

I’m doing business in Ukraine and will be interested if the boys back in Kiev have any opinion of this decision….

Haven’t seen the fight, only got back from Magaluf last night and am absolutely exhausted, but it sounds like Kotelnik fought a pretty good fight. I’ve got to be honest, I’m not overly enamoured with Devon Alexander. The guy’s clearly pretty talented, but I don’t think he looked great against either Junior Witter or Juan Urango, until Witter quit and that beautiful knockout against Urango. I genuinely don’t think his resume is as good as Khan’s, and I just wonder whether this means people will start seeing Amir as the number 2 guy now?

I updated our rankings — Khan is now #2. I firmly and truly believe Khan is a better fighter. Frankly, I don’t think anyone in that division can beat Khan, but I think Timmy has a better resume and that’d be a pick’em fight to me.

Khan, if he can stay at this weight, is somewhat of a freak of nature.

He’s been discounted by many because of his KO loss to Prescott which, although fair enough, was a first round KO and has to be seen as just that until repeated.

Sometimes guys just get caught early. Ask Angelo Dundee. He watched Ali hit the deck hard against Sonny Banks in a fight a year and a half after Ali turned pro.

Now Ali recovered and Khan didn’t …so I don’t want to exaggerate the point. But when a Linares or Khan get nailed in One…I am hesitant to close the book on either. In fact, I am in the camp of those who think Khan is the man to beat at Junior Welter.
