I’m kinda surprised though, I mean usually there’s people here for FNF… isn’t this comparable?
Officially boycotting Pacquiao vs. Margarito.
Kind of, but it’s on at 11pm EDT and John O’Donnell is not exactly a name here, and Fury is probably known best for punching himself in the face. It’s basically a Sky show, but our coverage comes at a terrible time for our UK readers.

I think it’d be nice if ShoBox looked into importing more UK shows, but at proper live times. What the hell is Showtime airing at 4pm that can’t be moved once in a while? And it’s not like this 11pm start time is going to pull in some sweet rating.

Fury looks fitter than last time out — 10 pounds lighter on the scales and it shows. It still seems with his frame that he should work on his upper body development some more.

Fury-Power R1
Very, very, very small ring. These guys have no room to work, so this is going to be a banger, I’m suspecting. Fury jabbing from what amounts to distance in that dinky work space. This is the closest either of these two will come to working in a cubicle. Or my apartment.
Power charging with a straight left, but Fury lands a little left hook. Fury with a jab, and a straight right follows. Power with a right hook. Calling this fight must be awesome. FURY! POWER!
Fury slinging his right hand. Power is cautious but not really tentative. Fury with a good right hand! He’s been much more aggressive this round. He lands another right. Power is just too raw, coming on too short of notice.

I’ll say this for Fury: he fights tall and uses his length. And his jab isn’t the worst jab I’ve ever seen.
He keeps his left at his hip a bit too much, though.

Fury starting the round a bit cocky. Power with a left, but he gets caught up with his own momentum and Fury gets a few quality shots in. Right hook to the body by Power. Fury hurts him near the end of the round with a good combination.

"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Fury-Power R3

Fury with a right hand. Fury with a good, violent flurry, and Power comes back with a left hand, but Fury starts flailing away with uppercuts. None land. Fury pumping the jab, now goes southpaw for a moment and throws some shots. Good uppercut by Power, but Fury backs him into the corner again. Jab by Fury. This is getting messy and pretty entertaining. Couple of big boys laying it out there. Power is getting nailed and not backing off. Good right by Fury! Power’s getting overwhelmed this round. Fury with a hook to the body.

Just stylistically
Decent jab, but otherwise so-so on the outside, but long and effective on the inside. The fact he’s like 20% body fat doesn’t hurt the comparison either.
Bad Left Hook - The SB Nation boxing blog
"Baseball is played on the field, not on a calculator."
Fury-Power R4

Well, four rounds is as long as Power’s ever gone. Power said between rounds his hand was hurt, and he’s laying back to start this round. Fury is coming big at him. BIG SHOTS by both! BIG body shots by Fury. Power comes back with a left. Power’s gotta be hurting a bit. He’s a tough dude. Fury jabs well from both sides when he commits to it. Power is getting very tired. Fury hits the body again. Good idea.
Another body shot by Fury. Power is tiring in a hurry. If he makes it another 20 seconds, he’ll be entering his first-ever fifth round. He’s so tired he’s not even trying to get his hands up to block jabs now. Three of them land before the bell.

Fury-Power R5

Power looks totally finished physically. It’s not a mental thing, his body’s just giving out on him. Good left by Power. Fury jabbing from outside, Power not even trying to block it still. His lands are just at a standstill most of the time now. Fury hits him with a body shot, then whacks him on the back, and Power kneels — not called a knockdown.
Power is finished, really. Body shots from Fury have taken over the fight. Fury sort of just picking and pecking at him now. Good right by Fury just after I say that. Good right. And another. Fury is owning this fight.

Fury popping him with jabs, right hands. Power still working his ass off to stay in this fight. Right and a left from Fury. BIG uppercut by Power! But Fury takes it — there was no steam on it, I guess. Fury starts winging shots! Power’s legs have totally given out on him. His corner would be wise to throw in the towel — not because he’s taken such an awful beating, but he’s going to do nothing good from here out.

Fury-Power R7

Right by Fury to start the round. Power seems to have gotten at least half a spring back in his step. Fury pressuring. Big right by Fury again. Power’s chin is pretty damn solid. Fury just unleashing shots with Power in the corner, but Power spins him out and drags him around. And Power’s about to keel over again. Fury with a long right, Power falling over. Fury dominates this round.

Farhood says I can’t look at Fury and not think of the Klitschkos. The fuck I can’t.
Power hanging on for dear life and falling all over as Fury continues to pressure and throw bombs. He wants to get the stoppage. I wish Bernstein would stop saying Power has “the toughness of a mixed martial artist” as if boxers aren’t tough and there’s some scientific data that proves that MMA guys are tougher. That’s a weird thing to keep harping on.
If Fury doesn’t get him out of here, it won’t be for lack of effort. Power still throwing punches back somehow. This has gotten sloppier than all hell. 30 seconds left.
Power makes it. Jesus.

Fury is better than I expected. His jab needs works, as does his footwork, and keeping his left low is gonna get him in trouble against a better opponent, but he throws in combinations, uses his ridiculous length well, and is surprisingly adept in close. He’s a good way’s away from fighting on the world level, but he’s improving.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R1

O’Donnell with a right hook to the body. Cauthen still has some spring in his step. Cauthen slips on the Hennessy Sports logo. Farhood notes that it’s a “lumpy ring.”
O’Donnell using the ring fairly well, as much ring as there is to use. Working the body. Pushing the action. Cauthen is staying at distance and isn’t terribly active. I like “Heat.” Seems like a good dude. O’Donnell with a pretty shot to the body. Cauthen with a hook near the bell.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R2

Jab and a straight left from Cauthen. O’Donnell still more active, but Cauthen is hanging with him when they get close. How many times are they going to profile a guy who fights left/right handed but is actually right/left handed and act like it’s super rare? It happens, like, all the time, man.
O’Donnell with a right hook to the body (his money punch so far), and Cauthen comes back with a good shot. Both guys land some decent stuff at the end. Far closer round, you could maybe argue for Cauthen.

Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.
O'Donnell-Cauthen R3

Cauthen starting to mix it up more, and still has decent hand speed. Cauthen starting this round much more active in the first minute. They’re both landing decent shots — O’Donnell seems to have more power on his shots, but Cauthen is hanging in there, and I think he just barely nicks this round.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R4

Left hand lands and Cauthen falls down, but it was another slip, this time in a neutral corner. Those big fellas messed up the mat. Referee warning Cauthen for repeated TACTICS! Little right hook Cauthen. Fairly even round. O’Donnell is solid, but Cauthen is right there with him.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R5

Cauthen’s defense is starting to play a major factor. O’Donnell isn’t landing much of anything clean. But in the first half of this round, at least he’s throwing. Cauthen is playing it very safe. O’Donnell winning the round, but then Cauthen shows his hand speed a little bit.
I’ll be honest — this is a fine fight, and I’m enjoying watching it, but these are the fights that are just miserable to describe.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R6

O’Donnell gets on a good offensive run, and then Cauthen throws back a little bit. Cauthen with a little flurry. O’Donnell is doing fine in there but he seems a bit frustrated. Cauthen of course has been around forever and has been doing what he’s doing forever. This is business as usual for him. Two nasty body shots by O’Donnell. Good round for both guys, I thought.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R7

Cauthen’s mostly just getting in sneaky stuff on counter opportunities. Then in the final minute of the round he’ll try to do a bit more than that. O’Donnell is cutting a pretty consistent pace overall and I think landing the better shots, but O’Donnell’s mouth is wide open late in this round, so maybe it’s too much of a pace.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R8

Cauthen warned for holding. Extensively. Cauthen lands a chopping left that backs O’Donnell off. O’Donnell still just doing more, though Cauthen is landing good stuff here and there. O’Donnell has landed some very nice body shots in this fight, but they haven’t dented Cauthen yet.

O'Donnell-Cauthen R9

Cauthen, after a spirited effort, has “shrunk” so to speak back to his normal levels, and O’Donnell has completely taken over this fight. O’Donnell has this odd habit on the outside of doing this weird little kick step thing with his right leg.

With no power, Cauthen is pretty much totally out of this fight, considering my card has been generous, I’m guessing. Nothing has really changed in this fight for the most part. Round 10 looks pretty much like every other round. Nobody’s in any danger of getting hurt or stopped. Nothing dramatic is going to happen. O’Donnell is going to take a decision.
