Mora makes weight, still loses 20% of his purse
Sergio Mora tried again and made the junior middleweight limit on a second weigh-in tonight, coming in at 153.6 pounds on the scale. 20% of his purse will still be going to Shane Mosley.
Vivian Harris also cut down to the agreed-upon 142 pounds after initially weighing in at 143½ on his first attempt. Harris faces Victor Ortiz tomorrow night on the undercard.
Photos from the weigh-in can be seen at BoxingScene.com and at Yahoo! Sports. Shane Mosley looks very fit, but then when doesn't he?
Don't forget: We're going to have all-day boxing coverage tomorrow, starting with the Magnificent Seven show at 1pm EDT, and then the Mosley-Mora PPV at 9pm EDT.

WTF?!?
he makes weight and still loses 20% of his purse? I now have a new thought process on why fighters still come in on their second attempts at weigh-ins with little improvement. if youre still going to lose a percentage of your purse then what’s the point in even trying?

you’re not alotted a hour or two to shed weight if you go over a pound or two?

well, in most states yes
but in California, over by 2lbs or more and the fine is automatic

was done anyway as far as i am concerned. This just makes me more convinced that Ortiz takes this fairly comfortably.

he’s been knocked out badly too many times—I think that’s why that ref was so quick the last time. In his last 8 fites, he was officially KO’d 3 times, but the NC really makes it 4 for 4 and was really the worst one—completely accidental headclash, awful-to-watch slip into unconsciousness, ambulance—scary for his head.

I joked in an earlier thread about VH not being in shape for the fight.
I never dreamed that he would actually have trouble making weight. Wow.
