I was watching TV today when a commercial aried for The Ultimate Fighter. This is Spike TV's hit show where two up in coming MMA teams are trained by current champions and pitted against each other at different weight classes for a spot in the UFC. The newest episode has a very special guest. The former baddest man on the planet, Mike Tyson. When i saw this i wondered to myself, "what the hell is Mike doing there?". With interest sparked, I continued to watch clips of Mike cheering the fights and responding to random questions. After the commerical i had answered my question. Mike is there soley for enterainment. His professional opionion and expertise in sport fighting mean nothing to that show. He is there because American media is using his personality, controversial past and bombastic statements as a way to boost ratings. He's a joke. I am very dissapointed to see one of the greatest heavyweights of all time treated this way.
However, he is responsible for his actions and responsible for accepting this appeaance. But I don't think he is aware of the intentions of the media. I will not be able to see the show, but I hope its not about waiting for Mike to say or do something ridiculous. He is a man who was molded by his severly estranged and traumatic childhood. And a man who did well at being honorable until Cus died and Don King stepped in place. If anyone watches the show and sees otherwise, please let me know. Mike is funny and an idiot, but he is one to be respected.
