Floyd Mayweather Jr. wanted for questioning in domestic battery case
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is wanted for questioning by Las Vegas police in a domestic battery case. KLAS-TV Channel 8 has this:
Police say they were called to a home at the 3800 block of Tropical Vine Street in southwest Las Vegas to investigate a family disturbance.
Police met with a female at the address and based on the information they learned, officers determined Mayweather was a suspect for domestic battery.
Police are hoping Mayweather will contact them.
The accuser is Josie Harris, according to TMZ, who filed similar charges against Mayweather in 2003, before the case was dismissed in 2005 after Harris testified that she lied to police about her accusations.
Mayweather is just days removed from an online video that outraged fans and media alike with racist and homophobic comments directed toward Manny Pacquiao. The flow of articles wondering for that one hasn't even stopped yet, and now this has come up. This has certainly not been the best week Mayweather's ever had as far as public image goes.

well, she already lied once so I don’t think she is very credible
the following two things are signs of weaknesses:
stay silent when it's needed to speak up, and speak up when it's needed to stay silent.
The timing is a little too convenient
but who knows/who cares.
Maybe she's not credible
But the fact that Floyd has disappeared doesn’t look too great, and the reports don’t sound too good either.
Plus, who’s to say Floyd didn’t pay her off to tell the cops she lied the first time?

Yup, exactly. We don’t know, but Floyd’s fleeing, the all out screaming neighbors heard, all adds up to a case where both sides may be equally incredible, but only one is wearing bruises. Sad state of affairs, especially for their kid.
The report I read says there were no bruises
Its possible I read an inaccurate report, but if this is the case…. you would think there would be a bruise or two.
::Insert Floyd has soft hands joke here::
That "report" is coming from 50 Cent
Not sure how credible he is either.

After googling it again, I realized the same thing.
It’s times like these when I wish SBNation had a delete button
from the news site you linked, it only says Floyd wasn’t home when police arrived, and this happened today correct? I wouldn’t say he’s on the run yet, if he doesn’t present himself to police by tomorrow then I’d agree. Also, we can’t just presume that he may have paid her off to keep quiet, if the charges were dropped because she came out saying she lied then she lied. If she took money to keep quiet she’s still not credible… This is just my perspective of course.

btw
not saying we shouldn’t believe her either, this is just my first reaction but if he really beat her then he should pay the consequences.

Probably not on the run quite yet
But it’s been about 10 hours now, and I’m sure he’s heard about it. He’s probably at his lawyer’s office.

guilty or not
getting advice from a lawyer would be just smart though

it's where I'd be right now, I'm sure

I don't know if this is all bad for Floyd
The timing of it and past issues with the woman in question cast doubts on her credibility. It’s bad, of course, if the charges go anywhere.
But it’s also the most Floyd’s name has been in multiple news cycles since May.

I’m certainly not saying he’s guilty. There is the issue, as Brick said, of him suddenly going missing, but we’ll wait and see on that. Still I think it’s all bad for Floyd’s image, and pretty much the last thing he needed. And his image (and ability to sell himself) is directly tied to his bank account, which will get him to sit up and take notice if nothing else does. I mean, the guy’s not Mike Tyson — Mike Tyson’s persona his whole career was largely built on danger and could survive the worst of his out-of-ring stuff. Tyson didn’t stop selling until he was getting beaten up by Danny Williams and Kevin McBride, thus losing the aura of danger. Mayweather has alternated between “annoying brat” and “clean cut nice guy who’s totally misunderstood,” depending on what he’s selling that week.

I know this is totally off topic..
But I would love to have seen Naz fight Floyd. A pair of arrogant, self obsessed little bastards knocking shit out of each other…. sound like heven to me.
Maybe his whole family is

We Only Know the Past
from an article at ESPN August 24, 2009 http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/newws/story?id=4419341
Mayweather grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was fined in February 2005 and ordered to perform community service after pleading no contest to misdemeanor assault and battery for a bar fight.
A year earlier, he was convicted of misdemeanor battery stemming from a fight with two women at a Las Vegas nightclub. He received a suspended one-year jail sentence and was ordered to undergo “impulse-control” counseling.
A lawyer who won an acquittal for Mayweather in 2005 after he was charged with hitting his former girlfriend in 2003 outside a Las Vegas nightclub was out of town Monday and unavailable for comment.
We also know that the past, almost inevitably, repeats itself.
And we know as well that women currently in or dependent on monies from past abusive relationships, although the guy is guilty and they are still at risk, fail to follow through a lot. Often the guy is their childrens’ father, severely complicating the situation.
Just factors to keep in mind.

And that's not mentioning the drive-by one of the members of his entourage performed
on some guy Floyd got into an argument with at an ice skating rink.

From the Same Article
LAS VEGAS — Authorities investigating a shooting outside a skating rink were seeking an associate of the company that promoted boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., Las Vegas police said Monday night.
The article, entitled “Cops Suspect Mayweather Associate”
Police said that they suspect a man who goes by the name “O.C.” in the shooting. Authorities described the man as a “known associate” of Mayweather Promotions.
Police said the suspect fired several shots into a vehicle as a driver and passenger were leaving the parking lot outside the Crystal Palace Skating Center on Sunday night. Nobody was hurt, but police said an argument had taken place inside the ice and roller skating center a few miles southeast of the Las Vegas Strip.
Police searched one of Mayweather’s homes and his Rolls-Royce on Monday, saying the car was involved.
Mayweather has not been named a suspect, and police said he is cooperating in the investigation. Authorities said it was not immediately clear whether Mayweather was present during the shooting.

TESTING
I don’t believe for a minute that ‘lil Floyd would swing on her…’less she has been undergoing RDT.
Actually, Despite his other flaws, this is not something I necessarily expect from him.
From his dad…yes. From Roger…for sure. The family has a history of violence against women; in fact violence period. And we all know that being raised an/or raising children in that environment often perpetuates that vicious cycle of violence.
But frankly, we don’t have enough information at this point to know one way or another what Floyd did or did not do here.
What we do know is that both Floyd and his media counterpart in the UK, David Haye, are bringing a whole lot of the wrong attention to a sport that should be adjudicated in the ring. These two, between their racists/sexist rants and their hip hop glorification of gang rape have double teamed all of us that love the game.
We’ll survive. We always do. But man…this has been one helluva shitty week for boxing fans.
So is karma
The Mayweathers are now the B-side fighters, arguing their cases on the other side of the bench. Their accusations, innuendo and slander of others won’t get them much here in the way of sympathy.
