Bad Left Hook and The Boxing Bulletin Join Forces
It is with great joy and excitement that I announce this evening that Bad Left Hook and The Boxing Bulletin are joining forces for 2011 and beyond, which we feel strongly will give you pound-for-pound the best boxing analysis and community you're going to find anywhere.
So join me in welcoming Andrew Fruman, Lee Payton, Sidney Boquiren and Jason Karp to Bad Left Hook. With their terrific analysis and contributions, I really believe we've put together a team that will be tough to beat for boxing commentary.
What does this mean for everyone? Just a better site all around. We'll be getting a particularly huge improvement in the area of our Japanese boxing coverage, as nobody does that better than Sidney Boquiren, and that's something I'm incredibly excited about.
If you're not familiar with the work of The Boxing Bulletin, I would offer these pieces of evidence. After reading, I'm sure you'll agree with me that this is a massive step up for our site, and I hope you'll be as excited about this as I am. We will be merging their archives into ours at some point, too.

Juan Manuel Marquez Defends Title Against Michael Katsidis & Father Time by Lee Payton
Japanese Scene: Kameda Brothers Go 3-for-3 in Saitama by Sidney Boquiren
Sergio Martinez: The One-Punch Marvel by Andrew Fruman
2011 is here, folks, and it's going to be our best year to date. New year, new Bad Left Hook.

BTW....Andrew,
I’m glad you’re on board and that we are on board with you. I just read you Martinez article…and am amazed that neither the article nor the comments never mentioned Hatton falling in two….on one punch.
You’ll find Scott’s people to be diligent in making sure to point such omissions out here at BLH.
Again…welcome.

Thanks for the welcome.
That’s a fair point regarding the Martinez story. But the reason I didn’t mention Hatton falling in two, was that I felt it was far from an “out-of-nowhere type KO” as Hatton had already been dropped twice in the fight. Before the second round started, I think it already seemed almost certainly a matter of “when” and not “if” Manny would lay Hatton out.
That said, yeah, I could have probably touched on it the way I did the other examples and explained why I didn’t think it measured up to the shock value of what Martinez did to Williams.

Fair enough
I think. Was more surprised that the four that commented didn’t mention it…but in the context of that fight, it did appear that Hatton was soon to be dropped.
The same can’t be said for Weaver and Tate. Nor Tarver stopping Roy, a true fan favorite, in such devastating fashion.

Mixed reaction from this end
No offence to any of the new writers (in fact I have enjoyed reading your stuff on BB) but I really hope this doesn’t mean BLH becomes more like the rest of the blogs out there because this one has had a particular style and approach that I’ve really enjoyed over the past however long.. Welcome to you guys anyway, and I’ll try to curb my negativity until you’ve been given a chance at least but lets hope Scott and Brick keep up their levels of input as you two have really done a truly outstanding job in providing the most entertaining and accessible boxing blog/news source/forum amidst the mass of dross offered up elsewhere.. *cough*eastside*cough*.. Good luck guys

Blast! Our entire intent was to make the site something you wouldn’t like. Well, ya got us! Now we’ll just have to keep doing what we’ve been doing but with the added contributions of some terrific writers. You win this round, LtfcPete.

Don't worry
You won’t see 3/4 of the crap that gets posted on ESB any time soon. All of the guys who are joining are good, intelligent writers, and we’ll continue to make sure we have good, intelligent posters.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds.

YAY!
Enjoyed all the articles, especially, for personal reasons, Jason Karp’s take on Quebec. Quebec’s where boxing interest came from in my past, in my otherwise totally non-sports interested family. But Canadian-French Gramp’s cousins were up north of Montreal, northwest of Joliette, in a dinky logging town called St. Come (Cosmo). Back then (teens, 20’s) he was back and forth a lot, with stopovers in Montreal while transportation (horse-drawn carriages) was arranged for travel into—the wilds of Quebec, basically. So he’d have a night at the fights, seeing among others, Sam Langford. I guess it turned genetic after that—only 1/4 Quebecois, I’m still ’ere, me.

Congratulations on the blog merger...
One question for Andrew… Have Carlos and Andrew (Harrison) decided to concentrate on their own blogs instead of joining BLH, or will they occasionally post too?
Still searching for an alive Dan Tucker.
Really cool news.
This way, I’ll remember to do the fight predictions game with much more regularity!
Such were the days, still, hot, heavy, disappearing one by one into the past, as if falling into an abyss for ever open in the wake of the ship; and the ship, lonely under a wisp of smoke, held on her steadwast way black and smouldering in a luminous immensity, as if scorched by a flame flicked at her from a heaven without pity.

Big welcome to Andrew, Lee, Jason and Sidney
Your writing definitely deserves a wider audience. I really enjoyed the new round table features, and the round by round analysis of close/dubious scorecards. I’ve only really read Andrew and Lee’s posts in the past, but good luck to everyone and I’m sure this will work out amazingly well :-)

btw
I really hope Dave Oakes starts posting on here too, at least.

Good news
Both sites are great so a merger can only be a good thing as long as the quality of the articles remains as high as it has been, which I’m sure it will.
And thank you for listing me as:

Much appreciated!!! :)
I don't take personal insults well. My wires are such so that when it happens, i'm not going to put on head gear, lace up the gloves and put in the mouthpiece. I'm going to drop the gloves and just let the adrenaline take off.
You more than earned that, my friend.

The welcome is much appreciated.
I’m really looking forward to contributing to a blog with such an active and informed community of readers.
No!!! Not the Froch guy?!? Hehehe kidding, pal. I’m sure I’d love reading some more heated (and intelligent) arguments from you.

I loved the Kameda story… sadly and for understandable reasons fighters from the Japan. Thai, and etc are all too often overlooked because quite frankly… it is hard to see their fights, get background info, and lack of media coverage in English.
"Boxing is dirty," said Casamayor. " The day I’m not ready to be a dirty fighter is the day I don’t fight anymore because it will mean that I have no heart for it anymore."
Yeah. I love doing what I can with the stuff, but I don’t know Japanese so I’m limited. Sidney is the man in that area.
