Got off the phone with Bern Beonte: Wlad-Chisora resked for 4/30. No Haye fight now. They agreed on points, but couldnt find date/site.

Dan Rafael's Twitter. Klitschko and David Haye couldn't come to an agreement on dates, since nothing worked in both the UK and Germany until July. Rather than sitting out for half a year, Klitschko will go back to fighting Dereck Chisora in April, with the prospect of a possible Haye fight still up in the air.

Apparently it’s tentatively scheduled for 2 July. Only date Sky would agree to.

Such were the days, still, hot, heavy, disappearing one by one into the past, as if falling into an abyss for ever open in the wake of the ship; and the ship, lonely under a wisp of smoke, held on her steadwast way black and smouldering in a luminous immensity, as if scorched by a flame flicked at her from a heaven without pity.

Sky Sports News

Listening to interview with Booth now. He said Haye agreed to date, 50/50 split, location i.e. all terms. Initially he put it down to German TV, but then (predicatably) turned around and said Klitschko was running scared. Didn’t mention any other possible fights when asked.

think they’re both just trying to ‘save face’ as it were, while both of them run down a last fight deal with a company.

Ofc that will mean each will have more power to negotiate afterwards … and this saga will go on forever. :(

The Royal Wedding blamed for Haye vs Klitschko not happening on April 30th

That's a great shout, to be fair.

In 2008 Lewis commented on a possible match up with Riddick Bowe. "He waits until I am in retirement to call out my name," said Lewis. "I will come out of retirement to beat up that guy. I'll beat him up for free."

Sky were supposedly unwilling to put on another Box Office fight during the same month as Khan. Why on earth did they not push Golden Boy and Khan to reschedule? Klitschko-Haye is an infinitely bigger fight.

Probably because Klitschko and Haye don't need to deal with Ramadan

True, but they were willing to stick Haye-Harrison and The Return of Mag-Seven/Khan show within a month of each other in 2010. Something doesn’t quite add up, I don’t think. Also, Sky have shown a willingness to put Carl Froch’s Super Six fights on – I’m worried this will mean he’s again consigned to Primetime if the Johnson fight is indeed scheduled for April.

i want to see they haye-klitschko fight as much as anybody

but given the ridiculously drawn out negotiations, i don’t think they should push any other fights to make it happen.
i won’t believe a haye-klitschko fight is happening until the opening round bell rings.
that being said, if they schedule the fight in vegas, i wouldn’t miss it!

Vitali-Haye on the July date (after Vitali-Solis in early or mid-March) would be the most logical move in my opinion, but it depends on what actually was Haye’s objection to Wlad-Chisora. If his biggest worry was Wlad not having enough time to recover after beating Chisora and bailing on the fight, then it should be no problem making a match with Vitali, who would have more time to rest and train. If however Haye was simply against any interim bout because he thought Wlad might lose, then obviously he would also be against a fight with Vitali.

Wlad/Haye scheduled for July 2...

Tentatively scheduled, of course.

by Dafs on Jan 5, 2011 4:47 PM EST reply actions

It won't happen July 2

How long will that give Wlad to recover. a matter of weeks? Don’t think so somehow.

This is just a mess.

For the sake of some excitement in the heavyweight division:

I hope Chisora goes in there and ‘Leon Spinks’s him….

In 2008 Lewis commented on a possible match up with Riddick Bowe. "He waits until I am in retirement to call out my name," said Lewis. "I will come out of retirement to beat up that guy. I'll beat him up for free."

lol

Well he will have a training camp then….. I will cut this short. Can you see a fight with Haye happening four-5 weeks after fighting Chisora. It Won’t happen in June

by Sweet science on Jan 6, 2011 7:31 AM EST up reply actions

Its actually 9 weeks and July, but I share the same sentiment that its basically just not happening. I think its actually pretty insulting to the intellgence to suggest July 2 after an April 30 fight, with all the promotion that needs to go into a megafight, and from a guy who only had 3 fights in the last 2 years. I mean, come on.

I never thought this fight was going to happen because I believed Haye would stick to pricing himself out of it, and I simply cannot believe Wlad doesn’t give Chisora first option after/some step-aside money. He’s supposedly been desperate for this fight, its supposedly all personal, Haye has been making excuses for as long as he possibly can, and now he’s finally backed himself into a corner (in between his last farce and his ‘retirement date’) Wlad prefers to fight Chisora? (‘oooh I haven’t fought since September’ – I bet he could almost get better Sparring than Chisora)

I think its all complete and utter b-s.

I don't really see the issue

It still might not happen, but not because he’s taking a Chisora fight. If anything, getting the additional promotion against a UK fighter should help PPV sales in the UK.

by Brickhaus on Jan 6, 2011 10:38 AM EST up reply actions

the issue

is that suggesting a July 2 date after an April 30 fight is just not realistic. The fight should definitely be happening on the former date now that Haye’s finally agreed, and now it won’t be. He just doesn’t fight that often, and 9 weeks for such a huge fight seems really ridiculously short to me.

I don’t know about Chisora helping PPV sales, they have plenty of Wlad highlight knockouts to show anyway. Maybe if its an exciting fight somehow, but all he’s probably going to do is toy with him.

I agree

Vitali did it with Chris Arreola and Kevin Johnson

by Polish Rifle on Jan 6, 2011 10:21 AM EST up reply actions

that was 15 weeks, not 9

and Kevin Johnson is no David Haye (not that the latter is the second coming or anything, but its an infinitely bigger fight)

I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘’Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'’ (Bernard Hopkins)

by BrianBrock on Jan 6, 2011 11:14 AM EST up reply actions

It was 11 weeks, not 15

Also, Chisora is no Arreola.

The real issue for me is that according to quotes on BoxingScene from Haye, he is using the timetable as an excuse to not fight Wlad. If he believes it will affect Wlad so much, then agree to the fight and look forward to the “advantage.”

Chisora/Arreola would be fun while it lasted.

ah...I stand corrected ;)

(lame maths lol)

Why would he agree to wait around for a fight thats not going to happen? I’m sorry, before I was with you in thinking that Haye is making constant excuses. But I cannot see how a mega, mega fight like this will take place 9 weeks after he fights Chisora. Would it even be suggested that Pacquiao could fight Mayweather after that sort of a break? Would Haye have proposed it that soon after Harrison? No, because for a fight of this magnitude its just far too short. I cannot see how this is a duck by Haye, and I am not a big Haye fan.

When was the last time Wlad needed to recover from anything after a fight?

I'll be shocked if Chisora lays a finger on Wlad.

He’s a poor man’s Sam Peter, and Wlad just wrecked the real one.

I cannot see it either

he could always get lucky, but then that theoretically also applied to Audley….I’ll be really interested to see if he actually comes to fight or survive and cash his check.

No, it couldn't have happened with Audley.

To land a lucky punch, it is a pre-requisite that a punch must be thrown….

lol

the sad thing is, everyone will always remember it for Audley not throwing, but unless Haye’s hands were a blur there was barely anything at all from him either for 2 rounds. I just hope big Derek tries, however long he lasts.

I think he will.

He’d better, or Brick is coming for his ass…..

We could have a trifecta of appropriate nicknames for UK heavyweights

together with Fraudley and the Hayefaker
