ESPN bringing 'Friday Night Fights' to Fort Worth for Super Bowl (Star-Telegram)
ESPN has decided to get some attention on boxing and their Friday Night Fights series by bringing the show to Fort Worth on February 4, two days before Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium. Unfortunately, they've decided to main event the show with Sergio Mora, who will face Brian Vera, a Fort Worth native.

Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins Rematch Bumps Chad Dawson's? (FanHouse)
The WBC has a dilemma on its hands. The "sanctioning body" might push for an immediate rematch between light heavyweight titlist (and legit champion) Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins, which would get in the way of Chad Dawson's contractually obligated rematch with Pascal.

HBO Picks The Wrong Fighter To Take The Right Stance (
Jake Donovan says that Sergio Martinez is likely to face Sergiy Dzinziruk, with March 12 being the date looked at. That would go against Top Rank's proposed Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga fight, which presumably will be on Top Rank PPV. He argues that Martinez got the hard-line stance from HBO (they turned down Sebastian Zbik and Andy Lee as Martinez opponents, after initially approving the latter). The date would give boxing fans a decision to make, as Martinez-Dzinziruk is a good fight to be sure, but Cotto-Mayorga is likely to have more fireworks and Top Rank really does usually deliver with their smaller PPV cards. Of course, dates could be changed.

Corey Erdman weighs in on Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade, who has been criticized for moving too slow, but might be a breakout TV star on HBO this year.

IBF orders rematch of controversial Luis Lazarte-Ulises Solis draw (ESPN)
Ulises Solis will get his rematch with Luis Alberto Lazarte. The two went to an extremely controversial draw on Lazarte's home turf in Argentina on December 18. Nobody who saw the fight thinks Lazarte deserved a win or a draw, and this was pure home cooking.

Emanuel Steward: Don't Call it a Comeback (Max Boxing)
Emanuel Steward talks to Steve Kim, and says he was frustrated watching Chad Dawson against Jean Pascal, while taking nothing away from Dawson's now-former trainer, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, who Steward says "was going crazy trying to motivate him" to no avail.
