Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

On New Year's Eve a week ago, writing a blog, I mentioned that I hope to fight for the championship belt by the end of 2011. Today, all indications are that in the coming week I will be signing contract to fight Wladimir Klitschko.

Tomasz Adamek's Official Website (in Polish).

Other sources are reporting that Klitschko's camp has confirmed this fight as well. This whole situation has become a fine mess, but at least Klitschko seems to be turning lemons into lemonade. Talks with David Haye fell through after no TV date was available in the UK until July. Klitschko then signed to fight Dereck Chisora as a warm-up, and Haye apparently refused the July fight (which was still on the table) because he felt that was too close to Klitschko's scheduled April 30 fight. Klitschko moves on to the next best thing, as Adamek is the consensus #4 heavyweight in the world and apparently the only top heavy yet to face a Klitschko who actually has the fortitude to do so.

Haye is now slated to fight his mandatory Ruslan Chagaev in May. Of course, that will probably never happen because Chagaev can't get licensed to fight in the UK due to his hepatitis-positive status.

On the Klitschko side

Bern Boente is saying they’re in serious negotiations with Adamek, that it’s not quite set in stone yet, and that the fight could end up being with either brother and Adamek doesn’t care which one.

And that the fight would actually probably be in Poland

Now comes the culmination of Highlander's improbable quest.

Which will probably result in Adamek getting KO’d but which won’t stop me from eagerly looking forward to it.

Hey, at least Adamek is the best opponent either K brother has faced in a long time.

God Bless Adamek… but he will get killed.

Adamek will have his chin broken to pieces. It is the type of fight that I hope he gets KO’ed because he is the type of fighter that will get up no matter what and will to be saved from himself

He is one of my favorite fighter… balls to the wall but common…. he was fighting at 168 not too long ago. The only way he wins if he goes all Corey Spinks like in that Taylor fight and hope that the judges reward the him for running. He can’t stand toe to toe with Wald.

He can’t stand toe to toe with Wlad.

He can definitely stand nose to nipple, though. :)

If i was Haye I would push hard to get a fight with Adamek asap and demolish him first to push all the pressure onto Wlad.

Everyone bitches about promoters and networks

but in the cases of the heavyweights, it’s the damn fighters fault that no one gives a shit anymore. They don’t fight each other.

Once the holder’s of the mythical baddest man on the planet title, the Klitschko’s determination to rule together at the top is about as lame a way to rule as it gets. Throw in Trotsky… I mean Haye…and you have three losers holding up generating any kind of universal interest in boxing on a grand level.

I don’t know how you gentlemen on the other side of the pond feel about Haye but the mother humper simply doesnt fight enough for me personally to even give a shit that he exists.

The fact is there are three guys maximum that anyone might give a hoot to see…and they have more sorry ass excuses for never allowing for one unified title than the WBC has titles for the same weight division.

Sorry about the rant….but this used to be MY heavyweight division.
The one that everyone cared about.

If Haye is so "ho humish," why is it that everyone wants to see him fight? My own take on haye is

that may be in the 1 percentile, but I truly believe he has the equipment to give Wlad a very interesting evening in Germany. As stated before, when you combine his incredible hand speed with his muscle mass, you get the potential for lethal results. As for keeping close counsel on his own career, he deserves props. His earnings on a round per pay basis have not been all that bad nor have they been bad on any other basis. One fight with either Klit, and he goes to Monaco on a yacht.

I am one Yank (maybe the only Yank) who likes him and likes his chances against Wlad (but not against Vitali).

I don't take personal insults well. My wires are such so that when it happens, i'm not going to put on head gear, lace up the gloves and put in the mouthpiece. I'm going to drop the gloves and just move in.

This debate was had recently, with both myself and Phill agreeing with your stance that Haye simply talks too much and doesn’t achieve enough to really warrant his supposed standing.

I love the Trotsky ref by the way, but in Orwell’s Animal Farm, Trotsky/Snowball is chased away by massive dogs with big fangs, intent on his destruction. There aren’t any big dogs chasing David Haye away, he’s running all by himself. That would make him more easily reconcilable as Mollie…. ;)

Adamek's chin has not appeared exactly unshakeable at heavyweight.

I would watch Wlad decapitate Adamek for free on television, but I wouldn’t plan my day around even that free showing.
Meanwhile, Haye has proven to be much like a politician: Inspiring words

the coronation—

After?
Ho-hum. At this point, I don’t really care if the heavyweight division ever becomes interesting again.
