The Bad Left Hook Pick'em Game: Season 9 - Week 1
Everyone is back on level terms as another 10 week season of pick'em action begins this weekend.
*** All players are limited over the course of the 10 week season to 10 doubles and 5 triples. If you're unsure of any other rules - please check the link in the box below.***
For those that haven't played before, welcome to the best pick'em game going. Please join right in and start playing (just make sure to check out the rules - we promise they are very simple).
An explanation of how to fill out your selections appears at the bottom of this post - please follow these instructions as it makes it easier for us to tabulate the results quickly each week.
Topping the bill in a weekend that features several highly ranked little fighters is a rematch of top ten flyweights, with Hernan Marquez and Luis Concepcion renewing hostilities in Mexico. The fighters met back in April, with Marquez winning via 11th round TKO in an early contender for 2011's FOTY. Moruti Mthalane, ranked a little ahead of both Marquez and Concepcion in the Bad Left Hook ratings, is also fighting this weekend, with the South African traveling to Italy to take on European champion Andrea Sarritzu.
Plus we've got the world's top ranked 105lb fighter in action, as Nkosinathi Joyi takes on top ten ranked challenger Katsunari Takayama in South Africa. The strawweights met back in January, with the bout ending in a 3rd round no-contest after the Japanese fighter suffered a bad cut due to an accidental clash of heads.
Also on the game-sheet is a super-bantamweight match-up from Mexico between Takalani Ndlovu and Giovanni Caro, and a 154lb clash from Oklahoma between Vanes Martirosyan and Richard Gutierrez.
You can check out last season's final standings here.

Okay, I'll give it a shot
But I’m really unfamiliar with most of these guys and am notoriously bad at pick ‘em games. I’ll start with only a couple of picks to see how it works. Picking the Italian for sentimental reasons and since he’s got home ring advantage. Seems worth half a point!

Correction for the Odds...
All picks made so far based on previous odds (listed below) for Mthalane/Sarritzu will stand – unless players want to make changes, which is always allowed before a fight has started. I made an error when posting the odds and the corrected numbers are now listed. Thanks.
1. Mthalane to win (any method) – risk 8 to win 2.
2. Mthalane by stoppage – risk 4 to win 5.
3. Mthalane by decision – risk 4.5 to win 4.5.
4. Sarritzu (any method) – risk 0.5 to win 8.5.
These are the corrected odds.
1. Mthalane to win (any method) – risk 8.5 to win 1.5.
2. Mthalane by stoppage – risk 4 to win 6.
3. Mthalane by decision – risk 4.5 to win 5.5.
4. Sarritzu (any method) – risk 1.5 to win 8.5.

As a tall guy, you gotta make the shorter guy take risks to get to you. Go through a bad neighborhood to get you.

I was wondering the same thing. No word from Boxrec that the fight ever existed, nor can I find anything on the web about it.
Boxing writer: "Iran, what are you going to do when you retire?"
Iran Barkley: "Rob your house"
fight was postponed
for “financial reasons”. sponsorship problems.
no, that was their first fight
They met once in the first part of the year and THAT ended in a no contest.
What will they think of for their third fight?!?!?!?!
i have 20,5 not 13,5, because marquez to win 5, ndovlu by decision 4,5, martirosyan to win 1 and 10 points for participation = 20,5
Sorry about that, I made the correction and you now have 20.5, but please make sure to enter the correct numbers. Ndlovu by decision was 3, while you entered a 2 (which was the number for the stoppage pick). I try to be on the lookout for when the number doesn’t match the written pick, but there are lot of players to enter and I don’t always catch the mistakes.
