Khan vs Peterson: Tickets On Sale Tomorrow, October 28
Tickets for the December 10 HBO fight between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson go on sale tomorrow. The fight will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Here's the info:
Tickets for "Capital Showdown: Khan vs. Peterson" go on sale TOMORROW, Friday, Oct. 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Big-time boxing’s return to our nation’s capital has created a buzz amongst sports fans ready to see the Unified Super Lightweight Champion Amir "King" Khan defend his titles against the No. 1-rated IBF Contender Lamont Peterson on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Plus, Brandywine, Maryland’s undefeated top heavyweight contender and former Michigan State University standout linebacker Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell and Lamont’s brother and top lightweight contender Anthony Peterson will be featured in separate fights.
Tickets, priced at $300, $150, $75, $50 and $25, go on sale Friday, Oct. 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster by calling (800) 745-3000 or by purchasing them online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets for fans traveling from the United Kingdom are available for purchase online at www.Sportscorporation.com or by calling +44 (0)845 163 0845.
Khan (26-1, 18 KO) will be putting his IBF and WBA junior welterweight titles on the line against Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO) in Peterson's backyard for this one, and it's the first major fight in DC in quite a while. Khan figures to bring over some fans with him and the atmosphere could be good, as we often see when fights are held where fans might care about the fighters and the fight more than just being there.
It also figures to be Khan's final fight at 140 pounds should he win, as the British star has designs on moving to welterweight and chasing a fight with Floyd Mayweather next year.

I agree. I’m sold on Kahn and I hope this fight proves that he belongs with the best.
Especially considering it looks like he’s going to fight Peterson and Mitchell at the same time as a couple… man, that is an awkward pic.

I’m a NYC expat living in DC now, and I’ve somehow managed to never see a live fight, so this is gonna be my first. Looks like Seth Mitchell is supposed to fight Timur Ibragimov on the undercard, which is a not-half-bad step up for Mitchell.

Has anyone bought tickets yet?
How is it that tickets went on sale at 10am yet I go on at 10:30 and Ticketmaster is only showing $300 ringside seats available?
I was able to get the $50 tickets a little after 10:30 EST, but in the five minutes it took me to waffle about upgrading to the $75 tickets, I got moved back a full row.

Dang!
Didn’t think they would go that fast. I thought boxing was dying or something.
Well, it might have sold really well, but promoters also have this fun habit of buying a bunch of tickets and then selling them on the secondary ticket market.

I ended up getting some $50 tickets
I just know I will be in the nose bleeds with some loud, horn blowing, drum banging, beer drinkings, song singing blokes. Damn!
As near as I can tell (and I can’t really tell because they didn’t produce any seating charts), the event will be held in the cavernous main convention hall on the second floor. Which is flat, so you’re probably going to have a small ring of seats around the ring for the $300 and $150 tickets, then a second ring with the first few rows being the $75 seats, the middle rows (like mine, in row M) being the $50 seats, and a few back rows of $25 seats.

I think that this will be pretty good, although I wish it were between two good fighters without claims to any “titles.”
Khan is a terrific technician, but I think he’s just slightly less than what his rep suggest; if Peterson were just a little more heavy-handed, I’d pick him, but I don’t think he has the power.
I’m going for Khan.
The only chance that Peterson has is to slow down Khan with a sustained body attack. Lamont didn’t do a horrible job in the Ortiz fight, although that was more Ortiz giving up the win than Peterson taking it from him. However, if Khan comes into this fight like the McCloskey fight, I would think that Lamont could pull an upset.

Peterson can do that. I wonder, though, if he can get through Khan’s boxing. I don’t think he can.
He has to be a better boxer than Khan, which he isn’t, or a really strong one-shot puncher, which he isn’t.
I think that Khan is a whole lot of almost, but not quite. But, I still think that Khan will take this.
Wouldn’t mind going to this, living in the D.C. area. Too bad none of my friends are into combat sports!
