Pacquiao vs Marquez: Beristain Says Marquez Is Clean, Pacquiao Trusts Commission Tests
Chris Robinson of Examiner.com spoke with Juan Manuel Marquez's Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain, who said that Mexican fighters don't use performance-enhancing drugs, apparently his way of dismissing the controversy swirling around Marquez working with known PED dealer and former government witness Angel Hernandez, a.k.a. Angel Heredia.
"To me it’s just ignorant, to put something in your body, because you don’t know what you are putting in there, how long it is going to affect you in the long run. ... You will never find a Mexican fighter that has any problems at all with this because we know the effect. We teach everyone the effect that you have in the long run if you take some of this stuff."
So, you don't know what you're putting in there or how it will affect you in the long run, except for Mexicans, who know the damage that prolonged PED use can have, because they have been taught. But...it...OK.
Maybe Nacho just should have said, "That's all bullshit," and left it at that.
Yesterday, Lance Pugmire had this from Nacho:
"I'm telling you, this guy [Marquez] would never do anything wrong. The eyes of the world are on him. Juan would never take anything like [performance-enhancing drugs]."
Nevada's Keith Kizer is quoted as saying, hey, don't worry, we got this, they'll be tested, you know, because those commission urine tests really tell us something, and Manny Pacquiao says he trusts the commission tests, which is pretty insane. One thing you can be sure about: Neither fighter will be on stanozolol and just get away with it! So that's something, anyway.

That’s good to know.
In the meantime, the horse has already escaped and is galloping toward tomorrow, so the barn door will get closed until the fight is over. Afterward, there may be one hell of a discussion, I just want to know which fighters I should suspect, because at this point, I can’t decide between
1. All.
2. Really good.
3. Most improved in a short space of time.
4. Rapid ascent of weight classes with success.
I should suspect everyone, because that seems to me to be the only way to be fair.
Actually, Heredia/Hernandez talked him out of that, it appears. So I guess not.
