Antonio Pitalua vs Cosme Rivera: Gear Up for Tonight's Rematch with September's Fight (Video)

Here's the first fight between Antonio Pitalua and Cosme Rivera, which took place on September 9 in Mexico City on Telemundo.

Tonight, the two will battle in a rematch from the same location (same venue even), and again the fight is televised by Telemundo at 11:35 p.m. EST. It will also, I have heard, be available live on WBCboxing.tv.

If you're looking for a good fight to watch tonight, this is your bet. Pitalua (52-5-1, 46 KO) and Rivera (33-14-3, 24 KO) went to a really spirited, fairly controversial draw in this one, and the rematch was pretty much immediately signed.

Judges the first time around scored it 115-113 for Rivera, 115-114 for Pitalua, and 114-114 even. I favored Rivera slightly, but it was a difficult fight to score. This is a pair of tough, gritty veteran fighters who may not be world class (in fact, they absolutely are not, let's just say it) but put on a good fight, and have proven to do so with one another.

We'll have live coverage at 11:35 EST of the rematch, so join us this evening.

I’m really glad you posted this, Scott. I didn’t know they were fighting tonight, and now I have something to watch.

Yeah I mentioned it in the schedule, of course, but those things are long and it’s easy to miss stuff if you aren’t digging through them. I’m really looking forward to this one as a means of just watching what is hopefully another good fight tonight.

thanks for posting the wbc link, we don’t have Telemundo in New England.

I’ve only heard it’s available there, but no idea if that’s for sure. It’d seem right since it’s on Televisa in Mexico (and that’s usually the feed the WBC site has – they have Montiel-Terrazas, etc. tomorrow)
