In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, trainer Freddie Roach says that Manny Pacquiao is ready to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr, and that it's up to Floyd to make the fight happen:
Roach: "I think you really have to talk to (Floyd) about that, about why it's not happening. First it was a blood test, and we came to an agreement on that, and we worked that out, and that wasn't enough. And then it was $50 million each, and the upside would be unbelievable. That would be the biggest pay-per-view event of all-time. ... That's the only fight out there right now. The thing is, any other fight out there, to me, it means nothing. Floyd is the only challenge out there. He's what I look forward to, because I like challenges. And I look forward to it. Because he is a challenge, because his style would give us the most problems."
I think that most of us would agree that to make the fight happen, it's not just on Floyd, and it's not just on Team Pacquiao, it's on both sides to show some humility and get it done. Whether or not that's going to happen is still, at best, up for debate, and most don't expect that it will. Bob Arum has said that they're fine with the standard Mayweather fight drug testing now. So it's about money and desire. How bad does everyone want it? Because the money's there.
