With two fights set to go on the bill at Wembley Arena in London, here's what has gone down so far.
In the featured fight thus far, Billy Joe Saunders stayed undefeated and captured the Southern Area middleweight title with a 10-round decision win over game and tough Gary Boulden. Saunders (11-0, 7 KO) won on referee's score of 99-92. Bad Left Hook scored it 99-91 for Saunders.
It was a test of stamina and patience today for the 2008 Olympian, as Boulden (5-3-2, 0 KO) was there to do anything but get run over as expected. And though Saunders did have Boulden in some trouble in the fourth, ninth, and tenth rounds, he never had him looking as though he would go. Boulden got rattled, but he was smarter than his experience might suggest, tied up well, and knew how to survive.
In all, it was not the most impressive performance for 22-year-old Saunders, but it was a valuable learning experience at worst. It's the sort of fight that could egg him on to train harder in the future, knowing what 10 rounds feels like now, and he remains a top prospect.
Other Results: Francis Luke Robinson PTS-4 Sid Razak; Bradley Skeete TKO-5 Jay Morris; Darren Cordona PTS-4 Aaron Fox; Gary Corcoran PTS-4 Billy Smith; and Frankie Buglioni TKO-1 Sabie Montieth in Buglioni's pro debut.
The card continues with one more six-round fight (which we'll add to the results shortly), then Michael Katsidis vs Ricky Burns, followed by George Groves vs Paul Smith. Our live coverage continues here.
