The Bad Left Hook Pick'em Game: Season 9 - Week 3
Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez square off in the third encounter of their classic series this Saturday night in Vegas, and we have three selections devoted to the 144lb match-up. A couple other fights from the show are on the game-sheet, with Mike Alvarado taking on Breidis Prescott at 140lbs and Luis Cruz fighting Juan Carlos Burgos in a super-featherweight clash.
Also on the line-up is Friday's Shobox main-event between junior-middleweights Austin Trout and Frank Laporto. Rounding out the week's action, are a couple of Commonwealth title affairs from England with heavyweights Tyson Fury and Neven Pajkic battling it out in Manchester and welterweights Denton Vassell and Samuel Colomban going at it in Oldham.
If you missed the first two weekends, week three's line-up offers a quick chance to catch up to the early leaders. We've got a cruiser-weight clash from Moscow taking place on Friday, while HBO, Showtime and BoxNation are all featuring double-headers on a very busy Saturday.
For those that haven't played before, welcome to the best pick'em game going. Please join right in and start playing (just make sure to check out the rules - we promise they are very simple).
An explanation of how to fill out your selections appears at the bottom of this post - please follow these instructions as it makes it easier for us to tabulate the results quickly each week.
You can check out the latest standings here.

Extra digit crept into my line C – should read under 1 1/2 not under 11 1/2. My pick stays the same though

Can someone explain to me the hbo card rule
There is halfs?
Just want to clarify before I make my pick on that selection
No just a way to segment. So if you bet under 1 1/2, you win if marquez wins 1 or 0 rounds on the HBO card and lose for all other possibilities. The half is there to make it impossible to tie.
"The bell that tolls for all in boxing belongs to a cash register."
-Bob Verdi
So what if Harold has 10 rounds for Manny. One for JMM and the other is a 10 -10?
I don’t hope to sound smarmy? Just want to make sure :)
by Sweet science on Nov 9, 2011 4:11 PM EST up reply actions
Harold isn't european
10-10 – ridiculous.
I’m assuming a tie is a half. In which case there can be a half round. I’m assuming 9-9 (with deductions) is also a half.
by journeyintosound on Nov 10, 2011 12:24 AM EST up reply actions
Yes, 9-9 would count as a 1/2 round won for Marquez as well.
by The Boxing Bulletin on Nov 11, 2011 3:10 AM EST up reply actions
I can’t remember Harold scoring more than a few rounds 10-10, but should it happen, the round will count as a 1/2 round won for Marquez. So, it is possible, that there could be a “push” for this selection, and in that case, the play will not count as a win or loss.

i was 100 percent sure Marquez will beat Pacquiao and i even had my money on him and im a boxing fan for 2 years but i had dedicated most of my time in watching this amazing sport but the refereeing and judging in the last year was terrible! And all of you boxing experts saying that Marquez gonna get KOd in one round that he is drinking his piss and god himself wont save him got all wrong! Please now just give Marquez all the credit he deserved instead of saying Manny was the agressor and he won because this is absolute bullshit! Then Margarito beat Manny because he was the agressor
+1
Unfortunately in the era of MMA and ground and pound too many people confuse boxing with fighting. JMM is an artist in the ring, and last night he gave up 6 yrs and fought the world’s #1 P4P at two divisions above his natural weight, and won.
The judeges decision was out of Pacquaio’s hands last night, but his repsonse to it wasn’t. Pacquaio told everybody that he ‘clearly won the fight’ when he and his trainer knew he hadn’t. A warrior like Marquez deserves more than that, and if Pacquaio was the sportsmen we thought he was he would’ve been more humble in his response, he went down in my eyes.
I hope JMM refuses to get back into the ring with Pacquaio it’s a fight he can’t win, even when he wins.
