Today at 4:45 p.m. EST on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and SAT1 in Germany, WBA middleweight titlist Felix Sturm will defend his belt against British challenger Martin Murray at the SAP-Arena in Mannheim.
Sturm (36-2-1, 15 KO) is looking to make his 11th successful defense of the title that he regained in April 2007 by defeating Javier Castillejo, and his second straight defense against a visiting British foe.

Murray (23-0, 10 KO) is taking a big step up in class from the likes of Nick Blackwell and Carlos Nascimento, and is a pretty strong underdog on the sportsbooks, and in the minds of boxing fans.

It will be a single-fight broadcast on Sky Sports, as the undercard has nothing of major interest, and we'll be watching the Sky broadcast.
Join us this afternoon as we kick off a heavy slate of round-by-round coverage this weekend, during which Bad Left Hook will have live coverage of five separate events, including Cotto vs Margarito II and Mares vs Agbeko II on Saturday night.

Might not be able to do proper round-by-round here, but I will have the fight on and obviously everyone watching has a place to talk about the fight. Cotto vs Margarito weigh-ins start at 5 p.m. EST and that takes first slot over this fight.

I usually wouldn’t, but Cotto vs Margarito weigh-ins > Sturm vs Murray in terms of public interest. That’s just the way it is.

Why oh why
does Murray just stand there and let Sturm use his best weapon, jabbing his head off?
Move to the side or something for crying out loud.
Sturm’s doing enough to win the rounds, not doing enough to get the stoppage. Seems like its en route for a shutout.

uppercut gets though for MM. FS backs him up again with a series of jabs. right hand lands for FS. MM dropping the workrate, but then he unloads a good combination and gets warned for some reason again. MM gets through with another right round the side. decent second half of the round for murray

If it were in an arab country it might have been a shoe.
Like with Matthew Macklin, this fight will no doubt raise Murray’s profile on the world scene a bit.
Murray v Macklin could be a good fight down then line i reckon.
Murray is surprising me for sure. Sturm is definitely slowing down, but like the Macklin fight, still is a good fighter. Murray came to win, and I’m loving it.

strong start from FS but MM fires back. MM seems to have a little more energy saved up here. MM is really looking good in here, but sitting on the ropes will probably cost him here. MM might have took that he started and ended well

Both fighters need a strong final round. FS gets through with a good flurry as they both open up, great work by MM but FS returns fire. FS throwing uppercuts and a good right gets through. FS can’t hurt MM he just keeps firing back. FS with a big flurry at the end. That was a really enjoyable fight. MM can be very proud of himself tonight.

Man, I want Felix Sturm back in the U.S. to fight Andy Lee or JCC Jr. Sturm makes damn good fights now and I think both would be terrific.

but Murray deserves an enormous amount of credit for it. This was a huge ask considering his lack of real fights to this point.

I didn’t see the first few rounds, but I think that based on what I saw, Murray nicked it. He lost the last round, though.
Didn’t see the fight, good for Murray. I thought he’d make it close but didn’t think he’d get the decision in Germany.
