Victor Ortiz Promises to Break Noses Next Time He Headbutts Someone
And now re-introducing the Victor Ortiz action figure with Tough Talkin' Action!
From RingTV.com, where Ortiz says definitively he headbutted Mayweather because Floyd elbowed him somewhere between 16 and 5000 times:
"You want to get dirty, I got dirty...I let the best of me get away. For that, I started feeling bad. That's why I was like, 'Floyd, man, my bad, yo. I apologize, man.' So I gave him a hug. That got me to feel human once again in the ring," said Ortiz.
"And when I felt human, I paid for it. Although, you know what? I take it as a learning lesson and a learning experience. And the next time, it ain't going to be that. If I'm going to head butt you I'm going to break your nose the next head butt."
This is all so hilariously dramatic. "That got me to feel human again."
"And when I felt human, I paid for it."
YOU KNOW WHAT?
My word. The young man's filter is all blocked up.
But I do appreciate the idea at the end. Hey, if you're gonna do something, do it well.
Ortiz, of course, faces Andre Berto on February 11 in Las Vegas, live on Showtime.

Agreed--
If you are going to do something, don’t half-step.
One never heard of Fritzie Zivic trying to kiss opponents.
Declare war? Well, once inn war, a person better take out the enemy when he has the chance.
Maybe Ortiz needs some time with Ann Wolfe!
OMG. don't you understand the nature of torture?

Should we go into a
listing on experts beliefs about the efficacy of torture?
Or are you the leading expert on that now???? Those who torture are generally shunned anyway, no?
Anyway war was/is a metaphor for a fight, especially one that’s turned nasty: Not too many fighters would advocate for torturing an opponent because most of them are realists not sadists (and they respect their fellow fighters) and even those who have such in their nature would understand that unless one is far superior to an opponent then one better take that opponent out when possible. There is always a chance of a cut eye, lucky punch, etc. and such knowledge is fundamental.
I don’t think that Ortiz was in any position( or has the nature) to “torture” Floyd for fun and enjoyment.
And Floyd certainly didn’t waste any time in ending matters when he could.
Anyway, the main point was that one never saw such as Zivic kissing opponents after thumbing them, etc.—
You are either a nasty piece of work or you aren’t: Posing and playing in the middle is dangerous and stupid.

This is an interesting one,
especially from the self-proclaimed king of sucker punches—
Do you advocate half-stepping—
Sucker punching someone and then helping him up and giving him time to recover before resuming the fight.
You are either a dirty fighter or you are not. Again, playing the middle ground… .

Khan v Ortiz strikes me as better. Maybe not in the bad blood stakes, but certainly in the in terms of incomprehensible statements
Nobody will read this and care and why should they?

Khan v Ortiz would be great to watch, 147 being the prefferred weight i think. both these guys have to come back from a defeat so why not. Khan thinks he is ready for Floyd Mayweather so a fight with Ortiz would set the tone perfectly. I see where your’e comin from with the statements thing too, could really see how intelligent some people are…
I may be wrong but I think that they did fight in the amateurs, and Khan stopped Ortiz. Not that it means much. But yeah, I think that its a good fight that should happen in the next year or two.
Nobody will read this and care and why should they?

Is there any way to verify that? They were amateurs on two different continents.

I think they did fight, it was mentioned in an interview. I dunno the result tho.

After the way Khan handled a bigger (weight wise on fight night) Peterson, Ortiz may give him hell
by Sweet science on Dec 21, 2011 1:08 PM EST up reply actions
ortiz is capable of giving anybody hell, as long as he keeps his kisses and cuddles away from the ring. Khan seems to be on everybodys lips justnow (for right or wrong) this is one fight i gotta see though, next year hopefully.

For me
Khan definatley has unfinished business at LWW now. I will be very shocked to see him run for the hills of WW.
Khan really has plummeted in my estimation. Not his talent level. His fucking whining has really pissed me off. I owe someone an apology
by Sweet science on Dec 21, 2011 1:43 PM EST up reply actions
Ortiz doesn’t have the defense of Peterson, nor the heart. Just b/c they’re the same weight doesn’t mean the fight will carry on the same way… and ortiz has chin issues…
"According to all the laws of aerodynamics the bumble-bee should not fly, but the bumble-bee does not know this and so flies anyway."
hmmm
But Ortiz took many good shots against Berto who is a much bigger hitter and kept coming.
You do make a good point about Ortiz’s defense though.
God, Iv just thought. Think of the Khan complaints if Ortiz pulls the same stunt twice…..

Chin issues? I’m not sure being cold-cocked by a legal sucker punch = chin issues.

His footwork is flashy and fun to watch, I really like it, but he overreaches his front foot sometimes and gets off balance, leading to knockdowns. Bad balance more than chin. He’s not so much stunned as just gets nabbed when his balance is at risk.

I’ve declared Ortiz made 4-5 fatal mistakes… all of a chain of events that could have been prevented at each step of the way:
1.) his pre-fight smiles (kinda irrelevant but thought I’d throw it in)
2.) the intentional headbutt
3.) the kiss (*shivers)
4.) the hug (bromance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv7SUncOAAQ)
5.) after the left hook, he looked to the ref instead of covering up or moving his head/feet to defend
6.) post-fight smiles and shrug…

Speaking of Floyd, anyone hear the news of him going to jail for 3 months?
Looks like the Pac fights off again.
Holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never believed that would happen. Wow. Wonder what kind of shape he’ll be in when he comes out?
There is no safety in numbers, or in anything else--James Thurber, 1939
Vick was in Fed Prison – much nicer facilities than a County lock-up.
Burress was in protective custody, which also gave him “alone time” with whatever gym equipment was available.
Floyd’s going to county -lockup, where they often don’t have shit except over-crowded cells.
"While he may strike hard blows, he is not at liberty to strike foul ones." J. Sutherland.
Count on this...
We won’t see Floyd out of shape for a fight. So who knows when he’ll step into a ring again. Probably end of next year or the following year 2013.
Yea just read that. Fairly massive news if it’s true. On a side note he also apparently got a 500 dollar fine. I wonder which will hurt more

“Moments ago, in Clark County, boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Junior was sentenced to six months in prison by judge Melissa Saragosa. The prison term, in addition to a 12-month domestic violence program and a $2,500 fine, is for the domestic violence Mayweather has been found guilty of committing on ex-girlfriend Josie Harris and for also threatening two of his children”
I think it’s 3 months

+ 100 hours of community service and a $2,500 fine. These were instead of another 3 mo. inside, as I understand it.
I assume he’ll file an appeal, but I’m not sure how much that can protect him at this point. I think he’d be appealing from in jail. And I think he’d lose. He should never have pulled that shit in front of his kids, that’s what did it for him. You get Social Services involved, expect no mercy.
There is no safety in numbers, or in anything else--James Thurber, 1939
Wrong. He gets 3 months. I just wrote the article for another site. There is something weird, howevere,
about maybe his wanting jail time instead of house arrest. I need to check that out.
"If you sit there and watch a person take about an hour to tie his shoestrings, then you realize that whatever problems you got ain't that significant."

What house arrest? I didn’t see that mentioned on any of 3 sites, two of them using AP wire service. I got the impression that the community service and fine were sort of in exchange for another 3 mo. inside, but could be misunderstanding that part. Saw nothing anywhere about house arrest. If house arrest were a consideration, he may have chosen 3 mo in because house arrest if it were to have been an option would have been much longer.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. sentenced to 90 days for domestic violence
….I will see you on January 6 at 10:45.
Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was sentenced by Judge Melissa Saragosa to six months in jail on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a charge of battery domestic violence in connection with a violent attack on the mother of his children, ex-girlfriend Josie Harris. He was ordered to serve 90 days, with another 90 days being suspended.
The judge also ordered him to pay a total of $2,500 in fines (which is a poker hand to Junior), attend 100 hours of community service, and attend a 12-month domestic violence program. It appears "Money" Mayweather will surrender on January. 6.
The 34-year-old legendary boxer was arrested on September 10, 2010 after police said he punched Harris at his home. Mayweather also pleaded no contest to a charge of harassment stemming from the same incident. He was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, harassment, coercion, and grand larceny. The latter charge came after police said Mayweather took mobile phones belonging to Harris and his sons following the fight
Prosecutors argued that the undefeated champion fighter should receive jail time, saying any monetary fine would amount to “chump change.”
Mayweather’s attorney pinned some of the blame on Harris, calling her “crazy” and saying his client had accepted responsibility for the incident.
The attorney said a jail sentence would be a “waste of time for the Clark County Detention Center, but also for the community.”
