Tomasz Adamek Wants Chris Arreola or Seth Mitchell in Summer 2012
Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek is hoping to return to the ring in March with a tune-up to get himself fresh, and then land a summer 2012 fight on HBO with either Chris Arreola or Seth Mitchell as he resumes his quest to become a titleholder at a third weight.
Adamek (44-2, 28 KO) lost in September to Vitali Klitschko in Poland in a bid for the WBC title, and recently left American promoter Main Events. He has already met and defeated Arreola, of course, as the two faced off in April 2010 on HBO, with Adamek winning a majority decision in a competitive fight.
Arreola has spent 2011 getting himself in shape and running over the likes of Joey Abell, Nagy Aguilera (video), Kendrick Releford (recap), Friday Ahunanya, and Raphael Butler (recap). Much of the talk about Arreola's future has centered on a fight with Wladimir Klitschko, but Wladimir is booked on December 3 in a grotesque mismatch with Jean Marc Mormeck.
Mitchell, the American hope for the division (for now), stopped Timur Ibragimov in two rounds on the Khan vs Peterson undercard, in what was Mitchell's HBO debut. I don't know if Golden Boy would be looking to step Mitchell up that far by the summer, but they might -- Adamek is a small heavyweight and Mitchell could simply be too strong for him. If their matchmakers see an advantage, they could make that fight, because it would be a big win for "Mayhem" Mitchell if he pulled it off.

I’d be fine with either of these fights. An Adamek rematch would be a great benchmark for an in-shape Arreola. Adamek would be a huge step up for Mitchell, but it’d be a fun fight, and it’s not like there are a ton of attractive fights for Mitchell anyway. Maybe a fight against Bermaine Stiverne would be an appropriate next step?

Stiverne’s going to sit and wait to enforce that Vitali mandatory.

I wonder who they’re gonna get next for Mitchell, then. I doubt any of the better Euro heavyweights come to the US to face him, and Mitchell’s probably not going to Germany. Chagaev, maybe? Jason Estrada? Franklin Lawrence? Samuel Peter? I’d suggest Kevin Johnson, but after that stinker against Vitali, the only way he gets on HBO is if he buys a front row ticket, and even then they might move the cameras.

Maybe Don King can get Ray Austin another big fight with Mitchell.

I'm on board for either of these. I'd take Adamek vs. Haye too, if Haye deigned to make it happen.

Iran Barkley: "Rob your house"
Would be surprised if Adamek is on Haye’s radar…………….he’s looking to cash out against angrier Klitschko.
I agree, hence my phrasing ("deigned to make it happen")

We’ll never know until his management team stops putting him in with cabbies and hobos.

Doubt it. Dodgy chin.

No. In his wildest dreams he might be Michael Grant II.
