Here's the official fight poster for the Chavez vs Rubio and Donaire vs Vazquez double-header on February 4 at San Antonio's Alamodome. HBO will televise.
Chavez (44-0-1, 31 KO) will be defending his WBC middleweight belt against fellow Mexican Rubio (53-5-1, 46 KO) in what could be a really good fight if Rubio shows up ready to brawl. Both guys have an exciting style when they're on, with Rubio having better power, but Chavez a better sustained attack. It all depends on which Rubio shows up, and I don't include the version that took a dump against Kelly Pavlik. I just mean the average Rubio or the above average Rubio.

The co-feature is the fight I'm looking forward to seeing. Vazquez (21-1-1, 18 KO) seems tailor made in many respects for Donaire (27-1, 18 KO), whose explosive power and tremendous hand speed should find hole after hole in the Swiss cheese defense of the second generation Puerto Rican fighter, but we will also be seeing Donaire fighting heavier than ever, as well as fighting a guy he isn't much bigger than, which we have seen in most of Donaire's best victories. He's been huge for a flyweight, super flyweight, and even bantamweight. At some point size might become a factor.
