Cotto vs Margarito Undercard Odds: Brandon Rios vs John Murray
Note: These lines are as of 3 a.m. EST on December 3, and may have shifted by now due to Brandon Rios' weight troubles. Also, Rios must weigh no more than 147 pounds at 9 a.m. this morning, or the fight is off. These odds, at this point, are drastically out of whack:

What these lines do tell you is that this fight was being seen as a no-brainer blowout before Rios showed up looking like death warmed over at yesterday's weigh-in. There have been rumors that Rios hadn't eaten in five days. I mean, that's just a rumor, and I have no idea if it's even remotely true, but that's the kind of thing we're talking about. He looked so bad that it doesn't seem totally impossible.
This fight is a total wildcard now. If the odds for Murray have stayed this way, that might be worth a little bet. He's not a guy to take lightly, or to be in poor shape against. He's no world-beater, but he's tough and comes to fight, and he will test your endurance. If Rios isn't prepared, his star could take a big hit ... if the fight goes on.

I’ve never seen someone look quite as bad as Rios did at the weigh-in. He looked like ghostly, like a sheet – lifeless. I already thought Murray was a live dog, and given Rios’ dehydration, together with the manner in which his team have totally overlooked the Mancunian, I think those odds are currently irresistible. There were stories this week about Murray approaching Rios and shaking his hand, before a member of Rios’ team asked Murray (no funnies intended) who he was. Put it all together, and John Murray has an unbelievable shot at a huge win and a world title.
"Occasionally, there is a boxing match that, in its demonstration of skill, courage, intelligence, hope, seems to redeem the sport - almost. Perhaps boxing has always been a sport in crisis, a sport of crisis."
The only photo I can find—and how weird is it that his weigh-in photos are almost completely suppressed?—are at Boxing Scene, you have to scroll down past AM and MC and Rios is next up. The link refuses to transfer. He’s surrounded by guys who look 8 miles wide, looks like an abused 12-yr-old recently rescued from life in a filthy closet or something.

I just watched the weigh in on YouTube via boriqua boxing, and Rios looks like death. It’s unbelievable that he may still fight.

Getty is our licensed photographer, arguably top company in the world. They have nothing of Rios. They have the weigh-in as you can see. It’s really weird.

I don’t know how to do it, and I’m guessing copyright law gets involved, maybe I’m paranoid.

Personally, although Rios definitely did look weakened, i don’t think it’s going to be quite the big issue that some do. I think once he fully rehydrates he will be at least 75% of his usual self….. At least….. And a 75% Rios is enough to beat Murray, imo.
It could make for a more competitive fight though.
Saying that
it partly depends on how he lost the weight (did he leave it too much, too late?) and whethte rhe has underestimated Murray and not trained as hard as usual.
I think the latter point is unlikely and i’m also certain it’s more to do with Riso just being too big for Lightweight now.
This will be his last fight at 135. (No shit, Sherlock! :)
He’s rumored to have not eaten or drunk more than 6 oz. of water over a 4 or 5 day period, angering Cameron Dunkin when he found out. That’s really what concerns everybody, I think. If he got a little too thin but did it right, not so damaging. But it’s like he binge-dieted instead of binge eating.

Interesting
That was my main concern, that he’d done it the wrong way.
Starving himself as you say there is just stupid.
