Mares vs Agbeko 2: Fight Time, TV Schedule, Odds and Undercard

Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko settle their business tonight on Showtime. (Photo by Esther Lin/Showtime)

Tonight's Showtime double-header in the bantamweight division goes head-to-head with the Cotto vs Margarito II pay-per-view from HBO, but this is a fantastic show in its own right, with a couple of great matchups and a main event rematch between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko that has plenty of its own past controversy, although it took these guys about four months instead of three years to come together again. In the co-feature, Vic Darchinyan looks to finally pick up his first major title at 118 pounds, facing Anselmo Moreno.

Here's how you can watch tonight:

Fight time: 9:00 p.m. EST

Location: Honda Center - Anaheim, California

TV channel: Showtime (United States), Premier Sports (United Kingdom), Super Channel (Canada)

Odds: Mares is a very, very slight favorite to get the win again over Agbeko. One book has both of them installed at -115. In the co-feature, title challenger Darchinyan is favored at around -200, with Moreno around +190.

Slightly off topic but

the Romero-Avalos fight last night was a FOTY candidate IMO. Great action all fight long.
Romero might move too much for some people, but he DOES throw punches while he runs around. Avalos did not listen to his corner and work the body; he wasted a lot of punches missing Romeros’ head.

I wouldn’t have it in my top 40 fights of the year. Lots of swinging and missing from Avalos and some pot-shots from Romero. Not my kind of fight of the year candidate.

Its sad that this could be a great card overshadowed by Cotto-Margarito 2.
