Helenius vs Chisora Results: Chisora Robbed in Helsinki, Helenius Wins Split Decision
Today in Helsinki, British heavyweight Dereck Chisora dominated the fight, beat the brakes off of Robert Helenius, and even overcame a clearly biased and terrible referee, clearly beating Helenius in front of his home fans.
Unfortunately, the judges disagreed, rewarding Helenius a split decision win on scores of 115-113, 115-113, and 113-115. Bad Left Hook scored the fight 117-111 for Chisora.

Chisora (15-2, 9 KO) dominated the pace of the fight, unloading great shots to the body and taking Helenius' energy. By the latter rounds, Helenius (17-0, 11 KO) was clearly and totally gassed out. Chisora landed more clean shots, was far more active, and had Helenius backing up for the vast majority of the fight.
This was, plain and simple, a flat-out robbery. Italian referee Adrio Zannoni repeatedly cut Chisora off as he moved forward, including a brilliant moment where he waved his hand in front of a stalking Chisora's face.
Helenius did do some good work in the fight, landing some good shots, but he never enjoyed sustained momentum. It was the relentless pressure of Chisora that was the story of the fight, as he took away the taller man's jab, bullied him around the ring, and simply beat him, bottom line, without question.
There is no arguing this fight for Helenius, at least in my mind. But cast your vote: Do you think Chisora was robbed here, or just unlucky?

Didn't see it as a robbery
Fight was very close. Personally I gave it 115-113 to Helenius.

And what about the other 10?
The 12th was a clear Chisora round imo

But like I said
Fight was very close, many of the rounds you could give to either guy.

You were watching the same fight?
How on earth can you say the Finn won it?
Hilarious .

Judging by the comments
I have what it takes to be a judge. I am pleased.

I had it 118-110 for Chisora. At a push, and it’s a real push, I could see how someone could give Helenius four or five rounds. I’m struggling to see how two of the judges gave him seven rounds.
I complained about Duke McKenzie, and he had it 115-114 Chisora. Bloody hell this was bad.
Still searching for an alive Dan Tucker.
I always complain about McKenzie, the bloke’s appalling at judging a fight. It’s the worse decision of the year for me.
… beat the breaks off …
“Brakes,” imo.

So you expect Del boy to upsticks to Germany and fight
Where he has no drawing power, no name…….

In modern box, maybe, it’s the way to the top. Like fight for vacant belt with guy with no name and month ago no near to the top in standings.
That’s not a good way to look at things. You don’t just give in because things don’t go your way.
Don’t be lured by the darkside, Luke.
I don't know actually
You may have a point
I mean… Valuev fought over here a couple of times early on….. if things went his way Wembely would have been mad for a bit of Valuev against Haye…..

Rematch, rematch, rematch!!
It would make almost everyone except Helenius happy.

I don’t know why people always want rematches of robberies. I see no point. Someone already clearly won. If the scores had been right, no one would want a rematch.

We might get to see another exciting HW fight with a rematch
But I see your point.

The excitement of this fight meant nothing since nothing that happened mattered toward the end result.

The excitement of this fight meant nothing
It means that Chisora is a top 10 HW
It means when Chisora gets himself in shape he can bring it and is one of the most exciting HW’s out there
We know he got jobbed, but that doesn’t mean we can forget about the performance both guys put in. I say both guys because Helenius provided excitment in a losing effort too

Chisora is on the way out??
How do you mean?
by Sweet science on Dec 3, 2011 6:54 PM EST up reply actions
He’s only 27 or so, but aside from being fairly small by modern stabdards, my impression is that he’s had a fight of his own staying in shape.
He was tremendously impressive tonight, but I think his performance was an outlier in his career. I don’t think he’ll go anywhere from here, although he’ll probably get a lot of mileage out of this fight.
Helenius is one of those guys who seems to have perennial promise. I don’t think he’ll amount to much, but it will take a few more years before that becomes obvious.
My opinions only.
Some experts actually believe the young Finn will have a great career.

Have it in the UK
That way Chisora will win _
by TheMysticalNinja on Dec 3, 2011 6:36 PM EST reply actions
Not expecting him to
Just saying that’s the best way Chisora could win the rematch lol.

Total Disgrace
I had it 10-2 Chisora. Being VERY generous, Helenius might have won 4 rounds.

Havent even watched it yet ....
Havent even watched it yet … But how am I, as a 21 year old Boxing fanatic (in todays world, a ridiculously young boxing fanatic) supposed to defend the sport when time after time after this happens? Look, obviously im making a blind comment, but i trust the commentary on this site, but how is this sport supposed to sustain itself with this ridiculous stuff? On a larger scale, in my opinion, marquez was robbed, and now we see this, the sport is becoming an absolute laughing stock for MMA fans. The crazy thing is, every stupid decision gets mad publicity, but the next fight still goes wayward … do the people in control simply not care? A
I don’t really know what to tell you.
I’m old enough to remember the time in boxing when organized crime was at the tail end of losing its grip on boxing, and I can also remember the period from the middle 1960s through maybe the 90s, when boxing was relatively on the up and up.
I don’t know what’s going on now, and I don’t think it’s a resurgence of the Mafia. But I do think that something is going on, at least with judging, and it’s coordinated, not sporadic.
For myself, as a fan, I look for good fights and good fighters, and I will watch the good ones regardless of their win-lose records. I haven’t paid attention to “championships” in half of forever. I understand that fighters pay attention to both of these, but I like to think that if enough fans stopped giving any credence to these manufactured measures of success, the sport will at some point follow.
Chisora won tonight, regardless. Marquez beat Pacquiao, regardless. I remember what Agbeko dealt with against Mares, regardless. I have some idea of who to watch, because I think that these guys will still give what they have, once they’re in the ring.
MMA doesn’t have great judging either. In fact a lot of MMA judges aren’t even well versed in martial arts and come up with a lot of joke decisions. Despite its problems, boxing shouldn’t have to care about the opinion of MMA fans.
Everything is boxing’s fault to MMA fans, including bad judging because the judges work boxing matches (sometimes), the commissions are run by people who generally have boxing backgrounds, the scoring system is adopted from boxing, et al. They even blame things that have nothing to do with boxing on boxing. Apparently Cecil Peoples sucks at MMA judging and reffing because of boxing, in spite of him having no association with that sport whatsoever and a 40 year association with karate and full contact kickboxing. You don’t know how many times I’ve heard that.

Seriously
Some of you are overblowing this hugely.
There is no huge conspiracy nor is this a result that signifies the dark days of boxing. Chisora lost a very close fight, simple as.

Disgraceful judging. To be frank, I can no longer be bothered watching fights in Germany. The only positive is that I will no longer have to put up with Heavyweight fights either.
