Daiki Kameda vs Tepparith Kokietgym & Koki Kameda vs Mario Macias: Live Results and Round-By-Round Coverage
We will indeed have live, round-by-round coverage this morning of the big Kameda brothers double-header from Osaka, as both Daiki and Koki Kameda are in action.
Up first will be WBA bantamweight titlist Koki Kameda (26-1, 17 KO), who defends his title against Mario Macias (23-7, 11 KO). 26-year-old Mexican Macias is not considered a legitimate contender, but Koki has been inconsistent enough in the past to not be a totally clear favorite to make a runaway non-fight of this thing.
In the main event, Daiki Kameda (22-2, 14 KO) looks to pick up the WBA super flyweight title from Thailand's Tepparith Kokietgym (18-2, 12 KO). Daiki has thus far been the lesser-known and lesser-regarded of the two established Kameda brothers, so this is a chance for him to break out in a main event role, with his older brother in the co-feature.
Join us for round-by-round results and analysis if you happen to be up, to be immediately followed by post-fight coverage.

Here I go. Again. On my own.
Watching Japanese boxing at 4 am local. With nobody.

Koki and Macias in the ring, anthems over, introductions over, about to get this going.

Koki vs Macias Round 1

Koki with a pair of body shots about a minute in, as the two feel one another out. Koki circling well, looking to create openings for himself, giving Macias early angles to think about. Macias comes in, but he’s slow with shots.
Koki with a shot downstairs, and Macias hits the canvas on a low blow. Referee warns Koki about the low blow, Macias gets up and starts to shake it off. Koki not avoiding the body when action starts up again. The show was low, for the record. Overhand left from Koki doesn’t land clean. He’s pressing the action here. Right to the body, left upstairs. Easily able to force Macias AND THERE’S A BIG LEFT HAND AND DOWN GOES MARIO MACIAS!
Macias up and will survive the round, but not the best opening round for the visitor to say the least.
Koki 10-8

Koki vs Macias Round 2

Macias doesn’t look particularly eager to engage or take a risk here. Right to the body from Macias, now he comes forward for a moment. Jab from Kameda, now opening up with lefts again, but Macias crowding him and not giving Koki that short bit of range he likes for that chopping left hand.
Jab from Kameda. Koki ducks a wild right and rips Macias with a left to the body. Like level one video game shit there. “You’ve mastered the DUCK and COUNTER.”
Kameda pushing him back now, about half the round left. Macias throws an uppercut from outside, but it’s short. Not a bad idea though — and that time he throws it and lands better, though still catches glove.
I really dig Koki when he fights like this. Really pounding the body with a right hand counter. Jab lands. Coming right to Macias. Koki makes a quick charge near the bell, but nothing lands.
Koki 10-9

Koki vs Macias Round 3

Macias has switched southpaw this round and started to back Kameda up a little bit at moments, but Kameda’s still doing strong work, and then right before the bell to end the round DOWN GOES MACIAS AGAIN! He’s up, but this is going all wrong for the Mexican.
Kameda 10-8
Kameda 30-25

Where are you watching? My stream’s getting a little choppy.

nevermind, now it's OK
AFTER I miss the stoppage, of course.

I’m using the one you posted on twitter. I haven’t had any problems with it so far. Actually looks really good for a justin.tv stream.
Pretty mediocre for me. Good enough when it’s not chopping up though, and really it was just the fourth round.

"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Whoa doctor. I don’t know why but that one’s a trillion % better for me.

Koki vs Macias Round 4

Koki seems like he wants to get this over with. Throwing hard body shots and even some semi-ridiculous uppercuts now. Koki ends it, but I missed how it happened.
Koki Kameda TKO-4

Sweet hair, Tomoki.
I don’t know the result here so what the hell.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Damn it. windowed out by accident.
Anyway I gave Garcia the first against Tomoki on aggression.

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 1

so
Garcia 10-9
Tomoki will surely turn this up, but Garcia’s here to fight.

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 2

Nice counter right from Tomoki as he starts to time Garcia just a little bit. Jab to the body from Tomoki. Tomoki starting to pump that jab out better this round. Right hand from Garcia is blocked. Tomoki cutting Garcia’s workrate down this round. Garcia short on a right hand, then Tomoki unleashes a five punch flurry and grazes him a couple times. Garcia there to throw back though. Great left hook to the body from Tomoki, now a three punch combo.
Yep, the kid’s about to hit the gas.
Tomoki 10-9

Great slow mo of that left to the body. That thing had some mustard on it.

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 3

Tomoki moving forward now, ready to make it his fight without question. Jabbing, throwing power shots. Not finding the accuracy just yet, but starting to press. Vicious right from Tomoki is blocked, and Garcia, bless his heart, comes right back on him. Garcia lands some clubbing shots in close. Tomoki’s a little wild here. Jab to the body lands. Now Tomoki gets him to the ropes and starts unloading with body shots. Garcia comes right back though. Nice stuff from him. Game effort at the least.
good round.
Tomoki 10-9

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 4

Garcia loses his mouthpiece early in the round, gets that fixed> Garcia fighting from the ropes and Tomoki just opening up with offense. But look at Garcia dig back with uppercuts! Tomoki coming hard now though, trying to impose his will and use his physical advantages. He’s the bigger guy for sure.
This is a really solid battle so far. Tomoki is definitely starting to wear him out, but Garcia is throwing everything he’s got. Unfortunately he can’t punch. Right hand partially blocked, but backs Garcia down anyway. Reaching body shot from Tomoki. Hard right to the body this time.
Tomoki 10-9

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 5

Body shots really starting to sting. Garcia can’t really do much more than he’s done, and Tomoki knows it. Garcia hurt a bit, now pushed back to the ropes. Left to the body. Harder one now. Tomoki just bullying him. Another nasty left to the body. He’s beating up on him a bit now. Garcia starting to lose some of his spirit. Another body shot. That left to the body is truly Mexican.
There it is again. Yeah, he’s wearing him out now. This is getting one sided. Garcia trying still, and throws some uppercuts in close, but he can’t budge Tomoki at all.
Tomoki 10-9
Tomoki 49-46

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 6

Back to the body about 30 seconds in. One of those is going to break Garcia, or he has a steel set of abs, and it doesn’t look like it. Tomoki shoots a right over the top, then another left to the body as Garcia tries to counter back. Tomoki head-hunting just a bit more this round, but then there’s another left to the body. He’s just trying to set it up now instead of leading with it anymore.
And then there’s a lead hook to the body. Left AND right to the body now. Garcia opens up, misses shots, and Tomoki pops him with a right to the mush. Garcia recovers quickly and finishes out the round throwing.
Tomoki 10-9
Tomoki 59-55

Tomoki vs Garcia Round 7

Tomoki gets him to the ropes, unloads with a few, and Garcia basically tips over. He’s just done.

Both main eventers in the ring. This should be going…oh, 10 minutes or so. Maybe less.

More 503 errors this morning (and sorry about that, tech team is working hard on it) but I have Tepparith up 59-55 through six. Really good fight, but has slowed as Daiki has stopped trading for the most part. He’s trying to box, and it’s not the worst idea, but he can’t keep Tepparith from dictating pace either.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
69-64 Tepparith
Daiki getting busted up when he exchanges.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Daiki might be making his last stand here. Tepparith is wearing him out.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Tepparith 79-73. Daiki is really putting in a brave performance, but this is adding up, and he’s largely getting his ass kicked.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Daiki has big legs for 115, but Tepparith’s are huge.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Tepparith-Sor Rungvisai in the near future after this?
"Occasionally, there is a boxing match that, in its demonstration of skill, courage, intelligence, hope, seems to redeem the sport - almost. Perhaps boxing has always been a sport in crisis, a sport of crisis."
They’re definitely the emerging Thai guys of 2011. Both can really fight.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Scored the ninth for Tepparith, and the 10th for Daiki. Kameda is putting on one gutsy, gutsy performance, and he may have taken a couple of these rounds I didn’t give him.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Daiki in the 11th, but just barely. 107-101 for Tepparith.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
107-102 I mean
I could see this as close as 105-104. Unless scores are moronic, I can’t call robbery here the way this is going.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Tepparith 10-9 and 117-111. Closest I could possibly see is 115-113 for Tepparith. He won this fight.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Tepparith gets the nod. Deserved winner. Good fight. Daiki has nothing to be ashamed of. He gave a great effort.
Bad Left Hook
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
115-113, 116-112, 119-110 were the scores.
